Ah, not only is it easily searchable on their online dictionary, but here's the wikipedia entry for the term:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/McJob

This has more supportive info than a lot of TIL submissions.

Yeah, this was removed because it is insulting to potential advertisers. Todayilearned is garbage.

Edit: This

Edit: don't you dare question the actions or opinions of the moderators. They'll ban you even if you're not in their sub.

you have been banned from posting to /r/todayilearned.

note from the moderators:

Since you've actively stated you consider explanations of the rules to be "trashing" you, it doesn't seem like you can possibly be informed on them and participate honestly in the sub.

Combine that with insulting the mods and saying how you hate the sub seems like a good reason to go separate ways. Since you don't like the sub, this won't bug you at all, right? And if you wanted to come back, you'd have been open to discussion, but you actively stated you have no interest in it. So I'm sure you won't be trying to go make some scene, right?

you can contact the moderators regarding your ban by replying to this message. warning: using other accounts to circumvent a subreddit ban is considered a violation of reddit's site rules and can result in being banned from reddit entirely.

You guys proved you're the bosses. You can have stuff deleted from the internet. You must be so proud of yourselves.

Trolling /r/undelete to proactively ban critical thinkers.

That is some fucking gold right there.

Is this not a form of brigading, or even out right harassment?

I'm honestly speechless at this point. This TIL moderator* banned me from his sub for disagreeing with him here and then proceeded to harass me every half an hour or so for the next four or five hours.

Reddit is a business. At this point short of requiring detailed financial records if moderators any moderately popular and politically correct subreddit is going to be "moderated".Undelete may survive as only something they can point to to disclaim the truth.

The only final solution is some sort of decentralized solution.

[–]King_Of_The_Squirrel 3ポイント4ポイント  (0子コメント)

Ahahahaha. This is priceless. "Fuck this guy and his dissenting opinion. People can't a bad opinion of me. I'm too awesome for that. Better exclude him from things."

Meanwhile, the top post on /r/LifeProTips right now is about how to save a dollar on your next order of Chicken McNuggets.

I wish I were joking.

Sounds about right.

Edit: Yep, here it is.

It literally popped up on my frontpage right after I saw this undelete post.

Meanwhile, even voat is laughing about the reddit TIL mod ban-zai attack over this post.

EDIT: A discussion of this very thread we are in right now is at the top of /v/MeanwhileonReddit: https://voat.co/v/MeanwhileOnReddit/comments/497503

This is what the Admins have done. They've introduced doubt into the mix.

I have no doubt that this moderator works for McDonalds.

Or has a diet consisting entirely of it.

Hey-o!

[–]SuperConductiveRabbiundelete MVP 1

I believe I have evidence that this isn't a coincidence.

Deleted TIL frontpaged posts about McDonalds: https://www.reddit.com/r/undelete/search?q=til+mcdonalds&restrict_sr=on&sort=relevance&t=all

Non-deleted, popular posts on TIL about McDonalds: https://www.reddit.com/r/todayilearned/search?q=mcdonalds&sort=top&restrict_sr=on&t=all

The deleted ones seem almost universally negative of McDonalds. The existing ones seem almost all positive or neutral.

I believe this is evidence that McDonalds actively operates a social media sentiment manipulation campaign on Reddit, including issuing reports for posts they dislike and/or actually having direct access to mods or moderation powers. The TIL mods in particular have repeatedly stated that the majority of their deletions happen because they receive a large volume of user reports on a post.

Take comfort in the fact that this is the only bit of power they will ever have in their lives. They do it for free. He/she literally has no life, just look a their 20 paragraph responses to posts on /r/undelete.

/u/Batty-Koda banned me from TIL for calling him out as the cancerous, censorious piece of shit that he is.

I hope he's received at least a handjob for the McJob that he's doing for McDonalds.

Otherwise, it's a shit life, man.

[–]SuperConductiveRabbiundelete MVP 1

https://archive.is/submit/

He just banned me from TIL because he was upset that I provided evidence in this thread of him being a dick to people: https://www.reddit.com/r/undelete/comments/3k839x/246611030_til_after_merriamwebster_added/cuw9pjd

This is the most extreme he's been, scrounging up whatever little power he has to try and hurt his perceived enemies. He's getting more and more enraged by these /r/undelete threads. Ironically, he's the one choosing to participate in them, and he's the one escalating things and acting like a dick, as he's always done here.

Last night after I told him to leave me alone, he blocked me and then continued to harass me for the next five or so hours and then again this morning. He still has me blocked so he can't see what I'm posting here.

[–]SuperConductiveRabbiundelete MVP 1

I'm sure he banned you from TIL (as he did to me), but I'd be highly surprised if he actually blocked your comments. He's been "participating" in /r/undelete for a year or more now, and always acts like he does here. He feeds on negativity and drama, and when there isn't enough he stirs it up, and usually whips himself into a frenzy of blind, righteous rage.

Thus, I'd bet good money that he's reading what you're writing. If he was truly interested in blocking content that makes him angry, he wouldn't chose to participate here like he does.

What's most shocking to me is that the other TIL mods and even the admins think it's permissible to have a default mod behaving like this. Not only are his deletions usually ridiculous, how is he contributing positively to Reddit at all? Mods should be janitors, not powerusers, and especially not mods on a rage-fueled power trip. Banning people from TIL because he doesn't like their civilly-shared opinions in /r/undelete? What a childish use of his little bit of power.

I don't disagree at all with your assessment of him. He's a caricature. I hope he is just pretending to have blocked me and is really lurking here, reading this. It's too much.

[–]SuperConductiveRabbiundelete MVP 1

Maybe he's just really, really passionate about McDonalds being presented only in a positive light. Maybe he's in love with their burgers.

What ever his problem is, I'm sure that it's petty and insignificant.

No, he banned you from TIL for being toxic and for repeatedly ignoring/breaking the rules.

Well, more for playing dumb and ignoring them. He didn't really break them. Just intentionally ignored them as an excuse to attack me, and played dumb just for that sake as well.

In other words: "I banned him for hurting my feelings in this sub, and now I have my sock puppet here as my wingman."

[–]SuperConductiveRabbiundelete MVP 0

He has to use a sock puppet because he's getting frustrated at the rate limiting that all these downvotoes earn him.

Wait, you and /u/SuperconductiveRabbi think I'm /u/Batty-Koda?

Hahaha. Dear lord. Y'all are pathetic.

No, I think you joined reddit today and suddenly thrust yourself into this drama with your very first comment. That's much more plausible than you being his or anyone else's sock puppet.

I'm just here to make fun of frankenmine the pedophile. No need to be a typical muh oppreshun paranoid redditor :+)

No need to be a typical muh oppreshun paranoid redditor :+)

What? I'm just pointing out that you're obviously not a real user account. And if you actually did make that account in order to "make fun of /u/frankenmine", why did you choose to do it here, and why are you involving yourself in this conversation. It doesn't really make sense, does it?

Holy shit, you really are this paranoid. Hahaha.

Anyone who uses the word "toxic" unironically automatically loses the debate.

Thanks for making it easy for me.

  • It wasn't a debate

  • That's not how debates work

I accept your concession.

No debate is complete without a sock puppet account!

All exchanges on matters of fact and reason are subject to debate protocol, unless explicitly agreed on otherwise.

Sorry.

Prove it.

You're adorable. Not even a day old!

How long do you have to wait between comments?

All site-wide Reddit rules boil down to: "Thou shalt not fuck with our future ad revenue."

https://voat.co

Feels good man.

I subscribed to this subreddit just to read /u/Batty-Koda posts.

I love that the admins are balls deep in the mods to keep this shit off /r/all and the mods are complacent in their betrayal of us as users. Fucking pieces of shit.

I'm a bot, bleep, bloop. Someone has linked to this thread from another place on reddit:

If you follow any of the above links, please respect the rules of reddit and don't vote in the other threads. (Info / Contact)

The deleted submission has been flagged with the flair (R.1) Not supported.

As an additional hint, the top comment says the following:

Where I grew up, in Southern CA, no high school students or even recent high school graduates could get a fast food job. It seemed like only adults who didn't speak English worked there. Probably because they were less likely to quit and worked harder than a teenager would.

This might give you a hint why the mods of /r/todayilearned decided to remove the link in question.

It could also be completely unrelated or unhelpful in which case I apologize. I'm still learning.

Mod brigading and outlandish and incoherent defense of the indefensible by /u/Batty-Koda is pure gold. Really. This is some shameful shit by TIL mods. But it's also among the clearest examples of mod disconnect to reality we've seen in months. Real /r/theoryofreddit reality-distortion and circlejerking the crazy on display here.

Bravo Batty-Koda. You win teh Intarnuts today!

Webster'd (V.): When a once reputable aggregate of definitions pulls words out of their posterior in an effort to compete with Urban Dictionary.

Presidential candidates use this word. I don't understand all this rage against dictionaries recognizing and defining authoritatively the common vernacular.

Not supported...

Despite the objections of McDonald's, the term "McJob" was added to Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary in 2003.[61][unreliable source?] The term was defined as "a low-paying job that requires little skill and provides little opportunity for advancement".[62]

Where's the rest of the title - McDonalds asking for it to be removed etc?

So the opposite of not-supported. Also in common use in public debates for years if not a generation.

It was added to the Oxford English Dictionary in 2001 as well.
