Ah, not only is it easily searchable on their online dictionary, but here's the wikipedia entry for the term:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/McJob

This has more supportive info than a lot of TIL submissions.

Yeah, this was removed because it is insulting to potential advertisers. Todayilearned is garbage.

Edit: This

Edit: don't you dare question the actions or opinions of the moderators. They'll ban you even if you're not in their sub.

you have been banned from posting to /r/todayilearned.

note from the moderators:

Since you've actively stated you consider explanations of the rules to be "trashing" you, it doesn't seem like you can possibly be informed on them and participate honestly in the sub.

Combine that with insulting the mods and saying how you hate the sub seems like a good reason to go separate ways. Since you don't like the sub, this won't bug you at all, right? And if you wanted to come back, you'd have been open to discussion, but you actively stated you have no interest in it. So I'm sure you won't be trying to go make some scene, right?

you can contact the moderators regarding your ban by replying to this message. warning: using other accounts to circumvent a subreddit ban is considered a violation of reddit's site rules and can result in being banned from reddit entirely.

You guys proved you're the bosses. You can have stuff deleted from the internet. You must be so proud of yourselves.

Trolling /r/undelete to proactively ban critical thinkers.

That is some fucking gold right there.

Is this not a form of brigading, or even out right harassment?

I'm honestly speechless at this point. This TIL moderator* banned me from his sub for disagreeing with him here and then proceeded to harass me every half an hour or so for the next four or five hours.

Reddit is a business. At this point short of requiring detailed financial records if moderators any moderately popular and politically correct subreddit is going to be "moderated".Undelete may survive as only something they can point to to disclaim the truth.

The only final solution is done sort of decentralized solution.

Ahahahaha. This is priceless. "Fuck this guy and his dissenting opinion. People can't a bad opinion of me. I'm too awesome for that. Better exclude him from things."

Meanwhile, the top post on /r/LifeProTips right now is about how to save a dollar on your next order of Chicken McNuggets.

I wish I were joking.

Sounds about right.

Edit: Yep, here it is.

It literally popped up on my frontpage right after I saw this undelete post.

Meanwhile, even voat is laughing about the reddit TIL mod ban-zai attack over this post.

EDIT: A discussion of this very thread we are in right now is at the top of /v/MeanwhileonReddit: https://voat.co/v/MeanwhileOnReddit/comments/497503

This is what the Admins have done. They've introduced doubt into the mix.

I have no doubt that this moderator works for McDonalds.

Take comfort in the fact that this is the only bit of power they will ever have in their lives. They do it for free. He/she literally has no life, just look a their 20 paragraph responses to posts on /r/undelete.

All site-wide Reddit rules boil down to: "Thou shalt not fuck with our future ad revenue."

Future Digg 2.0. I'll pass.

I subscribed to this subreddit just to read /u/Batty-Koda posts.

I love that the admins are balls deep in the mods to keep this shit off /r/all and the mods are complacent in their betrayal of us as users. Fucking pieces of shit.

The deleted submission has been flagged with the flair (R.1) Not supported.

As an additional hint, the top comment says the following:

Where I grew up, in Southern CA, no high school students or even recent high school graduates could get a fast food job. It seemed like only adults who didn't speak English worked there. Probably because they were less likely to quit and worked harder than a teenager would.

This might give you a hint why the mods of /r/todayilearned decided to remove the link in question.

It could also be completely unrelated or unhelpful in which case I apologize. I'm still learning.

Mod brigading and outlandish and incoherent defense of the indefensible by /u/Batty-Koda is pure gold. Really. This is some shameful shit by TIL mods. But it's also among the clearest examples of mod disconnect to reality we've seen in months. Real /r/theoryofreddit reality-distortion and circlejerking the crazy on display here.

Bravo Batty-Koda. You win teh Intarnuts today!

Webster'd (V.): When a once reputable aggregate of definitions pulls words out of their posterior in an effort to compete with Urban Dictionary.

Presidential candidates use this word. I don't understand all this rage against dictionaries recognizing and defining authoritatively the common vernacular.

Not supported...

Despite the objections of McDonald's, the term "McJob" was added to Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary in 2003.[61][unreliable source?] The term was defined as "a low-paying job that requires little skill and provides little opportunity for advancement".[62]

So the opposite of not-supported. Also in common use in public debates for years if not a generation.

Where's the rest of the title - McDonalds asking for it to be removed etc?

It was added to the Oxford English Dictionary in 2001 as well.
