It's sad by TotalBiscuit published on 2015-09-09T20:33:14Z In which everyone ended up getting up hurt in an attempt to defend someone who couldnt defend themselves. Comment by Randolf Meier i think the ironic part in this whole thing is that most people (of your fans) dont want to be seen as evil by you and you always seem to take it the hard way too when the people (i deliberately do not write your community here) attack you. If everyone takes a step back they would realize that they want the same thing. as for the whole liana k thing and the girl thing since i am almost never on reddit i missed it. and no there is no good solution since there are to many people involved to communicate effectively. thats life. 2015/09/10 18:04:39 +0000 Comment by YourKing You have no control over the collective, only a voice within it. Up down voting is a highly limited system, better tooling is needed, graphs. Nodes and there connections, i like this person, i dislike this person, that effects there nodes relation to mine. 2015/09/10 17:09:50 +0000 Comment by Rush4in Actually, I want to be able to hear the people in the room. 2015/09/10 17:07:36 +0000 Comment by XartaX Personally I found the voice a little annoying, but I never felt the need to complain about it publicly. You can just be an adult and shrug, ignore it and carry on listening. Things can be annoying or even hurtful, but it's part of life to deal with it. However, that goes for that family as well (not so much the kid, though, as it's... a kid). Wherever you go, as long as individualism exists people will be annoyed about things, and not everyone can control themselves. As long as there's no physical violence in the picture, it's just a part of life to accept that it will happen. I know it's a bit harsh but... people just need to grow a thicker skin. The world isn't a hugbox. 2015/09/10 16:48:36 +0000 Comment by 3Leg Dawg (JehovaNova) @marcel-roy-908843028: All the big Youtubers I love have thier own forums,LinusTechTips,AngryJoe,TekSyndicate, and Jim Fucking Sterling Son! Most fans dont feel need to comment,I was there and half drunk by end of it,that lil girl was cute as hell FU reddit users who dont know better than to hate on a child. 2015/09/10 16:11:14 +0000 Comment by Marcel Roy @user-923491019: Similar thing happened to me. But not only was I permanently banned from the subbreddit but he was publicly shaming me in the threads as well jerking off with other users how "wrong" I am and how I'm a shitty little "sjw". 2015/09/10 16:08:28 +0000 Comment by Moist Von Lipwig @totalbiscuit: There are ways to express annoyance over something natural to someone else. One way is to talk to everyone in general, and then go "Man, this person/kid/lady's voice is really annoying." The other way is to go, "Fuck you person/kid/lady, your voice is annoying." People often confuse the two. Especially when a deluge of people do both at the same time. 2015/09/10 16:07:57 +0000 Comment by Moist Von Lipwig There are ways to express annoyance over something natural to someone else. I wish I could say the mods will deal with this but concidering the mods have been not only defending the abuse but actually joining in on the bashing goes to show how far gone the subreddit is. 2015/09/10 16:04:46 +0000 Comment by Vytautas Ĺ etkus People should stop being idiots and taking everything as directed at them. I read the subreddit. I posted several times. Did I take anything about this personally? Heck no. You get generalized and labeled if you do that yourself 2015/09/10 15:59:29 +0000 Comment by AT3chnicality it seems to me that quite a few reddit mods become drunk on the power they have because they feel powerless irl. It really is sad :( 2015/09/10 15:34:00 +0000 Comment by Matt Delaney 3 Keep your head up, TB! Theres a lot of silent people like me who follow you on twitter, watch a lot of your content and appreciate your work who never make a comment, and never post. We don't need to, because your work is great and we feel no need to comment. The offensive people who have made these comments are the loud minority. The loudest people in this case are the most offensive, not by coincidence. I'm sorry this has caused you such an issue, and I wish you not need deal with anything like this again. Love your work TB (and Genna who has been stressed tweeting about this)! 2015/09/10 15:05:54 +0000 Comment by Commander Clueless Complaining about someone's natural voice is not constructive criticism, and while nobody likes to be generalized, the proper response to comments that a subreddit was becoming toxic is not becoming more toxic. Did TB and Genna handle this situation the most eloquent way possible? Certainly not, but I think they handled it better than the subreddit did. You have to at least understand their disappointment and frustration. It probably doesn't help much TB, but I hope you know you have supporters out here in the abyss we call the internet. You may not be perfect, but you're a better man than I. 2015/09/10 14:51:51 +0000 Comment by TorgTalks oh yes, it is. definitely 2015/09/10 14:50:50 +0000 Comment by Kev's fan No. 1 @6qjxc8fvesrj: I found it mildly annoying too but that is no reason to go talking shit about a kid. It's nonsensical to say for someone to change their voice. As many people have said here, you could very well mention that the laugh is way to loud on the audio and that it needs to be worked on! The world might not be a nice place but that shouldn't be a reason for you to be part of what's terrible about it. 2015/09/10 14:45:25 +0000 Comment by J XRayStar Well expressed on the complexities you had to deal with in wanting to address it. As one of the people who saw the comments I choose to ignore them instead of try to down vote it. While I didn't agree with the comments, I had not even noticed the laughing when listening, I also didn't feel most of what I read was hateful enough to downvote or worth responding to. 2015/09/10 13:59:50 +0000 Comment by Nielk1 @thcollegestudent: Oh no I did a shit job explaining in the first place. I will have to refrain from using myself as an example in any capacity in the future as it causes people to just call me names or what have you instead of really understand what I am saying. But, then I fear the hypothetical person is a tool too detached for people to relate and understand. My basic point was to try to explain how a sudden knee-jerk reaction could easily put someone in the counter group and how I had such a reaction myself even though I was so obviously un-involved. While I easily understood I was seeing the situation as a silly "I don't see what's wrong so given how forceful he is about it I must be in said group" situation and passed it by, the fact I did see it that way briefly was instructive to me as to how others could do the same. 2015/09/10 13:58:32 +0000 Comment by thcollegestudent @nielk1: That seems a bit...obtuse...but in that case I apologize. 2015/09/10 13:50:20 +0000 Comment by Nielk1 @thcollegestudent: Maybe you missed it because you read my first comment, misunderstood it, had a knee-jerk reaction, and just had to comment thus proving my entire point on human nature in a round about way. 2015/09/10 13:42:36 +0000 Comment by Nielk1 @thcollegestudent: No, you are misunderstanding my entire point, I didn't take it personally beyond about 5 seconds. I was using myself to illustrate human nature and how given even I felt that way, all be it for a short time, it makes sense that others would who were far closer to it. This is very clearly explained in the comment chain and I'm not sure how you missed it. 2015/09/10 13:40:41 +0000 Comment by thcollegestudent @simisticot: It turly depends on which sub you go to, I watched the PCMR put a man on suicide watch for 48 hours and even offer him a place to stay. 2015/09/10 13:35:26 +0000 Comment by thcollegestudent @nielk1: I think in this instance you maybe genuinely taking it too personally. 2015/09/10 13:31:10 +0000 Comment by thcollegestudent @nielk1: You didn't complain...and felt targeted when he singled out people who complained? 2015/09/10 13:29:15 +0000 Comment by thcollegestudent @klas-kiander: Yeah I dunno if this was an audio issue on the users end or what...but to get so worked up over it? I didn't have a lick of trouble either. 2015/09/10 13:27:33 +0000 Comment by thcollegestudent @totalbiscuit: I guess you're dammed for being a good parent/person. 2015/09/10 13:25:56 +0000 Comment by thcollegestudent @david-johnson-886272928: Bingo David 2015/09/10 13:24:48 +0000 Comment by thcollegestudent @spiro7: That's the problem 2015/09/10 13:22:32 +0000 Comment by thcollegestudent You can be annoyed and express it without being a "shit lord" 2015/09/10 13:21:27 +0000 Comment by thcollegestudent Being in touch with your feeling makes you a full fledged person. 2015/09/10 13:19:49 +0000 Comment by thcollegestudent No way, then the mouth-pieces win the floor 2015/09/10 13:18:39 +0000
