Arguably Buddhism isn't a religion. Buddhists for example don't revere the Buddha as a god, but as a teacher.

Buddhism may in some ways not be a religion but the faith most Chinese believe in, which they often call Buddhism, certainly is. It has its own gods, temples and mythology which are actually quitseperate from any Buddhism you might find in Thailand for example.

There's all sorts of Buddhisms and a lot of them are just as much about guilt-tripping and money-grubbing as any other religion. Buddhism often gets a free ride because people think it's all philosophical like Zen. But Zen is just a tiny sect and mainstream Buddhism is no better than the other scams.

As you obviously aren't aware, China supports all non-radical minority groups, including Muslim and Buddhist ones to the degree where the Chinese government literally is paying minorities to not give up their traditional lifestyle and also by exempting them from the one-child policy that only affects Han-Chinese.

Funny how the conflict herds in China always happen to be those heavily supported by the US, like the Free Tibet bullshit and the Muslim terrorists among the Uighurs.

Let me ask you a question: Do you want America to be given back to the native Americans? Because that case is more legitimate than expecting China to give Tibet to the rebels. China has a better claim over Tibet than Americans have over the US. What do you believe would the US government do if Native Americans in Arizona said they will take back the state and their leaders start building an army of US deserters mixed with their own warriors while committing terrorist acts and military action against the US government?
