People who want to end the federal reserve are gullible and have no understanding of economics.

Said the Keynesion.

Anyone who uses "Keynesian" as an insult reveals far more of their own ignorance than they probably realize.

Wow. I think I hit a nerve. The fact that you think people are gullible who want to end the Federal Reserve makes me wonder if YOU know anything about economics. I'm sure that you have heard of an economist called Friedrich Hayek. This man won a nobel prize for his work in economics. He argued tooth and nail against what Keynes' easy monetary policy condoned. He suggested that increases in the money supply by the central bank would drive down interest rates, making credit artificially cheap. Businessmen would then make capital investments that they would not have made had they understood that they were getting a distorted price signal from the credit market. I'm assuming that you probably think Hayek is an idiot though too. If you do, you look at the macroeconomy with blinders on. If you think that quantitative easing has helped the U.S or any other economy with a central bank for that matter you are living in a fools paradise.

This is funny coming from someone who dismisses Keynes.
For the record, my understanding of economics is not built on hero worship, but if you think that Hayek has been vindicated be the results of QE and that Keynes has somehow been refuted you simply have no clue what you are talking about it.
Beyond that, I frankly don't care to waste any more of my time arguing with someone who is simultaneously so arrogant and poorly informed, so bye.

Arrogant? You were the one calling people gullible and lacking a complete understanding of economics by simply saying we want to end the Fed. My point in bringing up Hayek was that he is a famous economist that obviously refuted many of the central banks actions. I guess by your standards the Nobel prize winner lacked a complete understanding of economics. You have generalized way more than I have without really making a sound argument. If you do not wish to argue with me then I would suggest not making broad generalizations about my knowledge of economics simply because of the way you believe. Have a good one.

Arrogant?
Yes, arrogant.
You were the one calling people gullible and lacking a complete understanding of economics by simply saying we want to end the Fed.
No, you used "Keynesian" as an insult then tried to accuse me of being ignorant of Hayek based on nothing other than the fact I pointed out that was a really dumb thing to do. That's pretty much the definition of arrogant behavior.
I guess by your standards the Nobel prize winner lacked a complete understanding of economics.
He did lack such an understanding, and there are many other Nobel prize winners who would tell you that as well. I think you misunderstand what the Nobel is all about. It means you've made a huge contribution to a certain field, not that you are the final word on everything remotely related to that field. This should be pretty obvious given that many Nobel laureates, living and dead, have massive disagreements with one another. Just saying "He won a Nobel!" doesn't prove anything.
On that note, you know who else won a Nobel? That filthy, no-good Keynesian Paul Krugman! And he did so considerably more recently than 1974. Now what?

Haha, no, the definition of arrogant behavior is saying I have a lack of understanding of an extremely broad theoretical social science on the sole fact that I disagree with you on the fed. That my friend is arrogant. Who are you?? Janet Yellen?? You didn't even back your claim of this. If you are going to make such broad accusations at least tell me why.
I graduated with a degree in economics. If you think I have a lack of understanding of my field that I spent countless hours studying for, that is your opinion and you know what they say about opinions. Also, I wrote a 10 page paper on Keynes in college because I wanted to know more about "the greatest economist of the 21st century." I know more about Keynes actually than I do about Hayek.
My views are formed out of the Austrian School. If you don't like it, I don't really care.

Except that never happened, so, you know, there's that.

I'm sorry for your loss.
