You and the OP. It's a shotgun it has spread, he is aiming too high and hitting maybe 1/10th of the pellets, so it's not doing any damage.

At that range you should just go for a bodyshot. Headshots are only really done at mid range with the nova. But if you insist on going for headshots, aim for the neck.

I'm guessing it has already been said, but that close with a shotgun never aim for the head unless it is the only place visible. The pellets spread enough that often it will do less damage than the body, just due to hitting less pellets even though they do a ton more damage.

That's really unfortunate. I could be wrong, but it looked like you shot him in the head twice. I guess some of the shot missed, but still that is ridiculous, and then your team tries to kick you lol. That guy should have died though regardless of how accurate you were, you shot him in the head from a foot away with a shotgun.

It seems to me that you are aiming with the shotgun and not with your crosshair, bullets dont go from the gun (in first person view) to the point you are aiming at, they go by a perpendicular line to your monitor that passes on your crosshair.

You may already know this but maybe your subconscious decided to aim with the shotgun because your subconscious knows how real guns work. One thing that help me contradict this was deactivating first person tracers because tracers go from the gun to the point you are aiming, I found myself aiming with the tracers and missing close range shots
