I think it's pretty clear this user isn't capable of moderating without daily tantrums and sporadic bullshit mod action. And now telling us all to go fuck ourselves? Really? There's clearly no respect for the users of this subreddit or the other mods, which means he can't moderate or work as a team effectively at all. He's even handed off his project to Rad so what reason is there to keep this person around? Just for the sake of basking in his derisive tone? It's almost like he's determined to piss off everybody one by one.

Look, we don't have to put up with this kind of behavior, we can have standards for our mods. We have the power to vote this person off the island and just be done with it. After everything I've seen, I think it would be absurd not to.

I've really been trying to stay away from a lot of this, and requested that jackrousseau keep the drama contained to meta or necessary sticky threads, and they have disregarded that request. Do we really want a person that acts as an arbiter of our community to be telling everyone to go fuck themselves? I think that jackrousseau should be able to do whatever they want. I don't want to silence them. At some point I have to question if they are actually acting as someone we want as a mod. I don't think they are hitler. I don't want them banned. I don't even want them warned. However, I also don't want them to be a mod.

When Sync made the controversial decision about cosmic (which given the developing power dynamic between him and the handful of users/mods that vote in the meta, I support), jackrouseau was the one one who had to enforce it while taking insane amounts of flak. Also the reason of his initial unpopularity was that he didn't subscribe completely to the current group-think on Min-the-antichrist-thamee and suggesting that the aforementioned handful of users/mods that vote in the meta had played it's part in aggravating the situation.

Jack has been a good moderator (sometimes a smidgen paternalistic, but overall solid with good intentions) up until the last 48 hours or so.

As I said in the other thread, I would probably abstain as well - if he hadn't been doing the same as Sync and moving to silence the opposition. Mod's have too much ability to do that, so we have to take that power away from him.

              Quick question: what stops sync or jack from deleting threads like this? What, in practical terms, stops someone from getting mod powers and then closing the door behind them? I'm assuming nothing, but I don't know all the ins and outs of how this sub runs.

              You would have to ask them, but for my time as a mod here, such an arrangement wouldn't be in my interest in part because the drama produced by the coup would be untenable for me to handle alone.

              I'm hoping the current mods have a similar disincentive.

              Literally nothing. I could close meta, demod everyone else, remove the transparency mirrors and lock the place down in whatever way I saw fit.

              The only thing stopping any of the other moderators from doing that is that the moderators above them can undo it and remove them.

              There's nothing stopping me from doing that, though. It's the way reddit works.

              It makes sense, but it doesn't line up easily with how we want to run things here.

              Nothing to stop them really. Jack did delete a "Demod Jack" thread posted by Enkara either last night or two nights ago (it's all running together). I'm not entirely sure, but I'm pretty sure there are mods besides Sync that can demod him though. It might just be based off of add order of the moderators.

              For Sync, absolutely nothing. Sync is the Top Mod and no one has the ability to remove them.

                That thread withered up and died when you deleted it. This thread is the legitimate one because you haven't tampered with it, and its relevant to your recent behavior.
