This is glorious. Does she even realize how ridiculous she is or is this all bullshit?

Is anyone really certain that people on the show aren't told to exaggerate or make things up to make it more entertaining?

I can't say I'm "certain", but I've seen people on reddit discuss this show and other shows like it and explain how much they are staged and manipulated and stuff. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if these two were both actors.

He does look a bit like Wesley Snipes!

"Some silly bitches always tryin' ta ice skate uphill."

Dude..... Don't be racist that's obviously Bob Marley.

That isn't true. I saw the same discussion (someone who had been on the show) and they were "manipulated" in that the producer would say something like "if you get cut off, keep talking". It's staged in that the courtroom is actually a set. Of course it's a set. It's a TV show. And how could they be actors? The people in the gallery are actors, but not the defendant/plaintiff. It may be a TV show, but it's still two people who decided to forego a trial and take it to arbitration.

There was that AMA while ago from someone who went on the show, the producer did tell her to act a certain way like cutting off the judge but she didn't do it

Towards the end she does start to make one decent argument.

Did she? "I do comedy shows now because I made a babysitter but he can't because hes got a wife at home who he fed well and told her he loved her!"

Unless you're talking about the second part which I didn't watch.

She is saying he'd prioritize his work over her. While she did it herself it is a bad quality in him

[–]Kelmi 0

Well, she did say he was too nice by telling he lives her twice a week and cooking for her.

How can she say he was focusing on his work too much when he was focusing on her too much at the same time?

Oh really, this trifling bitch needs to be the center of his world 24/7? You women are ridiculous.

idk just watched the whole thing and it was bullshit the whole way through. If anything the story of the case itself is the most interesting part, the whole story is just kind of insane, given if it is not completely made up, which it probably is.

There was a girl that posted on reddit about being on Judge Judy. She said the producer told her to interrupt if she needed to speak. We all know how Judge Judy feels about interrupting. Seems like they might bait them into stuff.

yes-- in fact, the producer tells the witnesses that "Judy is hard of hearing, to speak up and to interrupt her to make sure she understands your point." Oh, my God thats funny.

On the other hand, she wasn't told to make stuff up or to emphasize parts of the story for extra drama. So there's that.

I watch this show under the impression that they all had a deal to be there and maybe were told to exaggerate it. They're both getting paid.

[–]Bobias 0

Yeah, she is half smirking the entire time like there is some secret joke that only she, and maybe the husband, were in on.

Judge - So the, "I love you" is too much for you?

Defendant - It's not too much but you don't have to tell me, like, twice a week.

Judge - So if I found you a brother that would run around on you, call you names, and smack you upside the head, you'd be in Heaven?

Defendant - Naw, he don't have to call me names or smack me, but...

She's a smart one...

She almost broke character at 4:15.

That guy seems like the shit, I wanna be friends with him

Don't lie you just want his 3am full course meal... i do.

Yeah but i'm trying to lose weight, he'd make me fat.

But he don't care if you gain weight, he still loves you.

I think what we have here is a couple of comedians going on Divorce court for exposure. The situation described is farcical, and gives the judge a great opportunity to drive the comedy. It's a genius piece of performance art that plays of the "nice guys finish last" meme.

Nah they're just trashy people on a TV court show. You dont apply for the show, the show picks cases out of existing legal disputes. For them to be on the show he had to have been suing her already. I really doubt two comedians got together, created a real court case about a simple missing vehicle, with the intention of it being selected out of thousands of others to be on television. Please dont talk about things if you have no information, that's how bullshit spreads.

You're right, I don't know anything about Divorce Court. Just seemed the most plausible explanation for something "too stupid to be real", although they could have decided to take this angle after being selected for a nationally televised show.

I still doubt it. She seems like a legitmate moron. Either she's the greatest performance actor alive or this is just a real and typical thing to happen. Black women have this opinion of relationships far more often than you'd expect. It's actually a bit of a problem in the culture.

Just seems a little too convenient that they're both comedians, and this is theatrical comedy that plays into commonly held stereotypes (as most theatrical comedies do). I'm not saying "This is 100% fake", I just wanted to point out a possibility here. Please notice in my original post i said "I think", therefore alluding that I have no facts to back this up. All I know is my personal experience working with comedians for a couple years (was trying to break into the scene, farthest I got was opening a couple times for some local big names). Probably tempered by the fact that I'm currently teaching my nine year old daughter not to take everything she sees in the media (internet included) at face value.

/u/princepurple1 is an idiot. You do apply to the show. The application is on their website, which talks about how you should "See if Judge Lynn can reignite the flame."

Apparently this show also has an application. Name calling is certainly called for. I got my information off of Judge Judy. This user is right that Divorce Court apparently also fields applications. He is also a twat, while we're being dicks needlessly.

I believe you're honestly just taking a stab and think you see foul play, but you're just looking for holes so of course you do.

You don[']t apply for the show, the show picks cases out of existing legal disputes. For them to be on the show he had to have been suing her already

http://28sherman.blogspot.com/2013/09/theory-on-low-white-male-black-female.html?m=1

The pairing with the lowest divorce rate is the white male-black female pairing. It's shockingly out of step with all others.

I'm feel it's been said in a different light already, but please don't correct people on things you know nothing about, and use apostrophes. Also, racism isn't cool.

Apparently you can also apply, TIL. Still dont think this is some kind of comedy conspiracy or scripted.

That article clearly states that they were selected out of other cases and that they made their fake case outlandish so it would be chosen. One of those guys even did an AMA on it. It wasnt scripted or faked by the show, they just made a real lawsuit wild enough that they knew TV would want it. The case from the above video is a simple missing vehicle and clearly not a similar situation.

Please dont talk about things if you have no information, that's how bullshit spreads.

...you then immediately turned around and said you have no sources and haven't even bothered verifying your claims, and even the most trivial of Google searches would reveal that you have to apply to be on the show and have to already be divorced. They aren't even legal cases, they're binding arbitrations.

EDIT: Apparently you don't even need to be going through a divorce to be on the show, you just need some good headshots and a scintillating story when you apply on their website.

Arbitrations pulled from local court cases. Everyone knows the arbitration part it's even a common TIL.

It's pulled from the list of applicants to the show and does not require you to be in a legal case. Maybe do some research instead of spreading bullshit?

Divorce Court is a bit of a non-traditional court show. You don’t need to be divorced to go on the show, just in a dispute that you would like resolved.

Ive already stated I was wrong in assuming this show was done like the others. I appreciate your bitchiness though. Really shows how much you arent seething at all.

Source?

That's how every single court show works and it's well documented. I didn't just read this somewhere so I have no direct source to pull up. Almost all of these shows are produced by Judge Judy or the company she works for and they all work the same way. You can feel free to google it yourself, though.

If you didn't just read it somewhere then how do you know? You knw judge judy personally?

As in I didn't read it just now. I was under the impression this was household knowledge. Guess I watch too much court TV if I'm assuming everyone knows about it. Again though if you are interested feel free to look into it in your own time. You can be snarky all you want but Im just not interested enough to pull up sources for you. If you believe me, cool, if not, look into it on your own. Not everyone online is responsible for holding your hand through google.

I guess its a fact that the shows don't create their own scenarios from time to time.

It is, actually. They just don't have to make anything up. I'll always laugh at the conspiracies where the entire plot is created just so the people involved have to work harder. The fact is there are a million trashy douchebags suing each other over petty nonsense because that's what trashy douchebags in America do. The show doesnt have to create story lines because its not worth the risk of being called fake in the public. There's literally no reason to fake it, it would be stupid, cost more to hire writers and actors, increase the show's likelihood of being attacked, and help nothing as far as ratings or content.

wow, so numerous court shows and not one of them has EVER scripted at least one scene. Good to know. Can you cite any of this information?

Can you name a reason they would script it? Also, I didn't just google this all so I dont have a site open or anything if you want to read more you can google it for yourself. You seem to know how a computer works so I trust you can do this if you didnt already know this stuff.

It could be real; kind of sounds like my ex. I've literally gotten in trouble for never swearing at her or grabbing her when angry. "You swear at other people but not at me". And this is why I've given up on dating.

Yea, I've literally had a girl text me "You're great, but you're too nice" FML. No FHerL. FEveryonesL. Fuck Life.

This woman deserves to be with an abusive asshole.

I don't think real divorce court televised with commercial breaks and a little logo in the bottom corner. I think the show gets views by trolling gullible people who are quick to anger.

This woman doesn't want to be with a 40 year old hack comedian anymore, I hope someone abuses her.

Who the fuck are you to tell me I'm quick to anger!?!

This can't be real. Please tell me this is set-up.

Such a great humble guy. That bitch is going to end up in the gutter some day. Hopefully, the guy ends up with a queen.

oh ok, i'ts a comedy not a real thing

All she wanted was a little abuse every once in a while. She's not unreasonable, she wasn't going to demand broken bones or anything, maybe just some facial bruises.

See Ray Rice did nothing wrong.

Negative excitement is better than being bored. Some people would rather be in trouble than be in nothing at all.

I'm surprised. With wearing his sunglasses indoors and all, I thought he looked kind of...

Shady.

But he's not the real shady

You're saying he's some sort of lighter version of shady, say Slim Shady?

I don't think he's really real slim shady though. Will the Real Slim Shady, please stand up?

Not to ruin the joke or anything for you two crazy kids, but he's blind.

Says glaucoma in the video.

Is he? In the video they said he had Glaucoma and that the lights bothered him.

I actually know a couple who got divorced for this reason. He would do absolutely anything for here. She said that she could wake him up at 3 am and ask him if he'd go to the store and get her a candy bar and he'd get up and do it without complaint. After a few years, she said she could no longer respect a man who would routinely do such things and left him. She saw his obedience as a weakness which was a major turn-off.

After all the "men should threat their wives like a princess" conditioning has finally worked, it's time to switch to guy to some scumbag, who probably bangs her sister (and gets her preggers) and then runs off with some strip tease dancer.

It's almost like women don't really understand what they want. Huh.

I remember this video. She said " He tells me he loves me like twice a week" which apparently was overbearing for her. And she tried to keep the car he paid for.

Pussy pass denied bitch

Bitch I hit you all the time!

...

I see what you did there...

If she wants a man that don't cook, clean, and or show any sort of affection then I...I think I found my perfect match.

David Deida, in his book "The Way of the Superior Man", writes about the need for "polarity", or dynamic tension, between two people, in order for a strong attraction to exist. He refers to masculine & feminine energies - how they are different, but how they both must be present for strong attraction. In situations where they aren't present, the energy is neutralized and people become partners rather than lovers. If one partner wants that energy, and it's not present, they may end the relationship, or cheat, to find it.

I could see this being some reverse-psychology trick where he confesses to beating her every night.

It doesnt sound like a crime either

reality tv for ya!

He's blind, so the fact that his outfit pretty much matches and isn't inside out is pretty good.

he's not actually blind, he has glaucoma.

which is why she allowed him to wear it in the court.

He's not blind. He has glaucoma.

He has glaucoma, so he was permitted to wear the sunglasses.

It's just proof that women like drama. Drama is tied to emotion and emotion is what women run on. It doesn't matter if it's good or bad emotion. As long as there is emotion they will be turned on.
