I read something that said that there is NO WAY this happened. They say if she was shot she should have been knocked back by the blast (Despite the living witness said the gunman missed his first two shots at her) and that because the is "no way they didn't notice him" despite the fact he was someone they worked with, and they were doing their jobs on air so they couldn't exactly react. All of this is of course wrong and retarded, but r/conspiracy had this "figured out" within a day, because they're smarter and always right.

Newton's 3rd law.

  • The target receives exactly the same amount of force as the shooter. (minus a tiny bit lost to friction with the air)
  • The difference is that the force is concentrated into the tip of the bullet for the target, and spread out over the palm of the hand for the shooter.
  • Unless firing the gun would knock the shooter over, getting shot with that gun wouldn't knock the target over.

to expand on this, the mass of the gun compared to the mass of the projectile also has a huge influence on how much of a shock the gun transfers to the shooter. Whilst the force exerted on both is the same, the massively larger inertia of the gun causes it to accelerate proportionately less than the bullet.
