Purpose

You should consider using this procedure under the following condition:

  • You would like to disable hardwired serial failover without physically removing the cable from the BIG-IP system.

Prerequisites

You must meet the following prerequisite to use this procedure:

  • Have access to the Traffic Management Shell (tmsh) or the BIG-IP command line.

Description

Customers in remote data centers may want to disable hardwired failover for diagnostic purposes. You can do this by disabling the failover.usetty01 db key.

Procedures

Disabling hardware failover

You can disable hardware failover using the tmsh utility.

Impact of procedure: If you do not have network failover in place, and both systems are online, the systems may go into an active-active state.

  1. Log in to the tmsh utility by typing the following command:

    tmsh

  2. Modify the failover.usetty01 db key to disable, by typing the following command:

    modify sys db failover.usetty01 value disable

  3. Save the change by typing the following command:

    BIG-IP 10.1.0 and later:

    save /sys config

    BIG-IP 10.0.x:

    save config
