If you look carefully, Daniel Craig is also credited as a producer.

Always get a piece of the gross. The net is fantasy.

I'd like free cash please. I will attest to how expertly your James Bond expertise is for some as well.

Are we sure Manny Calavera isn't the villain?

So am I correct in assuming that is Baron Samedi behind him (or a character of his likeness)? If so, that's awesome! I love that they are tying the newer films into the tone of the classic Bond films.

[–]GetFreeCashOfficial James Bond Expert 195

It's not exactly Samedi but rather a character that we saw briefly in the trailer who appears to be dressed in a similar fashion. http://i.imgur.com/JKxh9he.jpg

Edit: Yes. That's Daniel Craig in the mask.

It's not a new character, it's James Bond in disguise. So this poster is basically just James Bond standing there with a bigger picture of James Bond in the background.

[–]THE_darkknight_pees 27ポイント28ポイント  (2子コメント)

I heard you like James Bond so we put a Bond behind your Bond so you can Bond while you Bond

I loved Baron Samedi. He was scary as shit while also being camp as knickers.

Love how they're going for a Live and Let Die feel with this one.

[–]GetFreeCashOfficial James Bond Expert 269

The white dinner jacket is Goldfinger-inspired but the skeleton man motif is definitely all LALD. Very nice touch.

Oh don't worry, they are going full on Live and Let Die.

That's only true if Spectre turns out to be super, super racist.

Yeah, figured this out when I was older.
Super interesting thing I read once linking each Bond film as either the front runner or lagging in setting the trend of the era.
Eg
Live and Let Die - Blacksploitation
The Man with the Golden Gun - Kung Fu
Moonraker - Sci Fi
etc etc.

Craig Bonds are definitively following that trend. It been bournerized.

I think they're following the trend of super serious no tounge in cheek 'what if it was real' super hero films aswell a bit.

In the book, the bad guys are basically the civil rights movement and the anti-colonialists of the 3rd world.

Awww, is that not actually supposed to be Baron Samedi? Loved his character in LALD, especially with the open ending to his character.

Best Bond soundtrack.

I know, any time someone mentions that movie I get all giddy as the soundtrack repeats in my head.

I still wish they'd just do a Live and Let Die remake. After rebooting with Casino Royale, I want them to just go back to the novels and move through them chronologically (with Live and Let Die being the next novel after Casino Royale).

I'd like to see the novels filmed in period style. Otherwise ones like LALD don't really fly.

I disagree. Casino Royale worked great adapted to the modern day, and the benefit of adapting the other Fleming novels to the modern day is that they would not need to be compared so directly with the Connery and Moore films. For instance: Goldfinger, for me, is the archetypal classic Bond film, but a modernized Goldfinger, done more dramatically and less tongue-in-cheek, would be different enough that I wouldn't feel a need to compare the two.

Goldfinger is such an outlandish, impractical supervillain that I wonder how anyone could remake the movie with an eye for realism and make it at all work.

The funny thing is, the Goldfinger adaptation had some pragmatic elements adapted in. For example in the book Goldfinger's goal was actually to steal all the Fort Knox gold, something both Bond and Goldfinger laugh at in the movie as woefully impractical. His plan to irradiate the major gold supply of the world to boost its price and make him a prime supplier wasn't too shabby of a plan.

With some adaptations, his plan would work pretty well for modern time, maybe change major gold supplies to stock and some kind of major terrorist action or war to drive prices...which I just realize is kind of the plot of Tomorrow Never Dies. Huh.

Yep. I'd kill for a 60's set Bond movie, even if it's just a one-off. Miss the atmosphere and chain smoking.

Whoever lit that shot should be taken out back and pummeled. Craig's admittedly prominent philtrum couldn't be more pronounced in that shot if you used a highlighter.

I thought just the same. It's either a bad superposition of re-cropped pics, or Bond's standing before a screen projector while somebody's doing a powerpoint class presentation on skeletons

You can get much better fanart out there I'm sure

My favourite SPECTRE poster fanart is this picture by Sahin Duezguen on DeviantArt. Love the smoke motif.

It's ok, but what's the point of the smoke, is he hotboxing? It beats this Mr.Skeltal poster though.

I don't mind it, but I don't like this "type" of smoke for it. More of the puffy type smoke and less the hard line whispy smoke. But pretty nice still.

Not just you, this is a terrible poster. The placement of Craig over top the skeleton image is perplexing, at the very least.

Yep, this is bad. It should be a lot busier if it's going to include something as complicated as that skeleton man image. This one should be an old-school Bond poster with shit crammed in everywhere.

I agree. For me it's something to do with how the background looks like a blurry crop of a shot

I think it's both, it's just a jarring contrast. Also it just seems artless, like they just threw a picture on another picture decided they were done for the day. I'm all for the old school feel of the poster but I think they could've polished it a bit more

It doesn't work as a small picture it's meant to be blown up and printed on glossy poster paper and set in dim-ish lighting like in a theater

I hate trigger discipline as much as the next guy but in this case I feel like it makes sense. That's just bond's personality. Would he have trigger discipline in the field? Absolutely, England's best agent. But if he was posing for a picture? Never. He'd put his finger on the trigger on purpose, just as a fuck you to everyone, to remind them he plays by his own rules.

I'm into suits and formal wear as a, I dunno, hobby. It's my jam. I was happy Bond wore a midnight blue tuxedo in Skyfall thinking they'd become popular enough for mass production (they were hard to find off-the-rack). All that happened was a bunch of designers made navy blue tuxedos. The idea behind midnight blue is that it actually appears darker in artificial light than black. Some of the imitations were straight-up Smurf like.

Anyway. The idea that the cream dinner jacket will come back into fashion next spring/summer is exciting to me - hard to screw that up.

If you're wondering, no, I don't know why I wrote this either.

                                  EDIT: words.

Really liked Casino Royale, didnt really like Quantum of Solace so is Skyfall worth checking out? And it is necessary to see Skyfall before Spectre to understand what is going on?

Skyfall is one of the most visually stunning movies I have ever seen. It's a worthwhile watch for the cinematography alone.

As for the plot and acting and such, it's miles ahead of QoS, but it doesn't really move the overall Bond story arc forward so much as provide closure about what's happened in the past, and lay the table setting for everything SPECTRE related going forward. It's important to the continuity and overall theme of Bond and his evolution, but on a strictly story basis it's not necessarily required.

It's not as good as Casino Royale but it's a good film. It's worth watching.
