Is that Philomena Cunk?

Looks like her

It is her. Her real name is Diane Morgan and her page on her agents website shows the mole on her neck.

..why did you need to mention the mole?

Any distinguishing marks and features? You don't need to keep staring at it.

MOLE! BLOODY MOLE! WE'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO TALK ABOUT THE MOLE, BUT THERE'S A MOLE, WINKING ME IN THE FACE!

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmole.

Take this quarter, go downtown, and have a rat gnaw that thing off your...uhh...neck.

That is the mob segment herself.

I love Screenwipe's talking head captions:

  • harbinger
  • televised mouth user
  • enthusiast
  • wordshitter
  • flappy bird champion
  • lifeform
  • mansplainer
  • captioned human
  • amateur expert
  • occurrence analyst
  • enfleshed larynx
  • thing discusser
  • dapper laughist
  • mob segment

I think if I had to choose a favourite, "enfleshed larynx" would be it.

'Amateur expert' is my favourite.

The philosophy professor she interviews midway through is incorrect at 02:50. Here she seems to claim that there is no test you can perform to determine whether you are awake or asleep, because tests will respond the same whether you took the test, or you dreamed of taking the test. The "pinching test" is unreliable -- however, there are a number of pretty reliable tests that can be performed to determine whether you are awake.

Ah, but how do you know that those tests are reliable?

It's not just Moments of Wonder that she's in. Search her name on YouTube and you'll find more of both her and Barry Shitpeas. This is one of my favourites of hers.

All of these clips are from Charlie Brooker's "Wipe" programs on the BBC, like Weekly Wipe and News Wipe. Most of them are on YouTube in full, but this is one of the more popular clips from it that floats around reddit.

Also his one on Mass Shootings.

If you weren't aware, these are characters in Charlie Brookers Screenwipe, the actors real names are Diane Morgan and Al Cambell, the latter also directed Screenwipe.

/u/CANT_TRUST_HILLARY is all over the place. 29 day old account with 300,000 link karma.

That's 10,500 link karma per day!

Just posted 8 things within the last hour. gunning for /u/gallowboob.

at least /u/gallowboob has tons of comment karma too and contributes a lot of original content.

And frankly, most of his reposts are either not very egregious or actually crossposts. He's one of the few "serial reposters" whose content I actually like.

OC no. But content which hasnt been on reddit before.

no he really does. he's a big contributor to /r/photoshopbattles

And a lot of his gifs are made by him. Yeah he didn't record the video, but he did make the gif.

Which is good enough for me. I always find it odd when you see people calling gallowboob out for being a karma whore. Like they want him to know they see through the great facade of him posting tons of content for karma. Who cares? For the most part its good content, we are all here to look at what reddit has to offer, yet people complain when someone is better at providing content than most.

I think a lot of people are under the illusion/miss the days when Reddit was more, I dunno, "organic"? When the stuff you saw day-to-day was mostly just random chumps posting whatever they thought was interesting and happened to make it to the top. The idea of career-frontpagers or power-users who're actively gaming Reddit fads and whatnot for visibility clashes with this image of Reddit as an organic place for any old person's content to get noticed.

Reddit hasn't been that old Reddit for a long time. The current Reddit is still pretty good, but it doesn't stop some people from getting really upset when they realize that someone's getting karma like it's their job.

Not supporting the stance, just describing it.

Yeah, was surprised when I started browsing that sub and saw his shoops, figured he was a bot or something, but lo and behold he was posting OC that was pretty good.

I've never looked into this further, but the claim is that some users will farm karma on Reddit and sell thier account to various marketing agencies. This gives some validation when they start thier Reddit post/ad campaign. I read about this in the comments of another one of OP's posts that made the front page.

Also with an election coming up...I'm sure someone is interested in buying an active reddit account named CANT_TRUST_HILLARY...

[–]the_light_of_jesus 3ポイント4ポイント  (4子コメント)

that's one serious lack of a social life! someone needs to tell him you can't exchange Reddit karma for real-life respect.

Looking at the OP's post history, it seems he is actively protesting posting OC on Reddit.

I don't think it's that bad. Sure, it's less effort than going out and protesting somewhere, but does that make it worse? I mean picketing is just people holding up signs with things written on it, too.

Nowadays, though, you can arguably have your message reach more people by posting your cause to social media than by standing outside of a government building.

Exactly, at least they're voicing their opinions to friends and family who may or may not look into the issue at hand. The hope is to get at least one other person to look it up. Everyone hating on people who do this are just prudes, putting your self out there is better than staying in a basement all day playing LOL

I would say posting a pic of your face on your personal social media account with a message is both acting and providing support. Sharing the image less so.

Look what happened with gay marriage. Do you think change happened because of a march or an act of force. It changed because 1. Monied interests didn't care because it didn't affect their money and 2. a critical mass of support was reached that turned the tide of popular opinion.

Images like this are what caused the tide to turn.

I've got to be honest, Reddit manages to pull off both slacktivism and counter-slacktivisim shockingly well. There is the constant posts about invasions of privacy that get massively upvoted, but there doesn't seem to be any ideas on how to prevent it. People seem to get the impression that upvoting will change the world, and then don't really do anything. On the other hand, they will constantly make fun of the "1 Like = 1 Prayer" and similar versions of slacktivism in what would be considered counter-slacktivism.

So now I'm taking a stand against counter-slacktivism! We shall call it counter-counter-slacktivism. Anyone that wants in on this just let me know. We are going to stop counter-slacktivism one upvote at a time!

Coincidentally, this is why people on reddit are convinced Bernie Sanders has pretty much won the election already.

I'm not American, and Reddit is one of my major sources of news (just checking /r/all periodically). I knew he was behind Clinton for a while, but was under the impression that the gap had pretty much closed. Eventually I wound up finding a graph detailing the polls from the last four months and was shocked at how wide the gap still was. Now I try to expand my news a little bit.

I think that's just confusion between thinking people are excited because he's winning when they're actually excited that he's closing the once huge gap. I mean compare now to when he announced they've certainly covered a ton of ground. More over the sanders for president subreddit does actually help organize events and members.

You get all of your news from Reddit? Oh God you must think the US is the worst place on earth.

One of the major sources I use for US news, although I'm quite aware of the bias. Usually it's where I initially heart of something, and if I'm interested I'll search out additional information

Problem is that Reddit is not a source for news, its an aggregator, which is posted by people and upvoted by others, meaning that there is a huge chance that things people here don't like will never make past /new

According to reddit the US has the most invasion of privacy and least amount of rights in the world

America according to Reddit: Racist Evangelical Christians who hate women, blacks, abortions, the poor, women, equality, birth control.

Americans on Reddit: Middle class white men who handle their bills on auto pay, contribute a matching 4% towards their 401k from their IT careers, share a Netflix account with their friend and play computer games.

If you're main news source is reddit, you're going to have a bad time. Reddit has to be the most biased news source ever. They act like Bernie is Liberal Jesus, and pretend that he actually has a chance at winning. It's quite laughable really. This is Ron Paul all over again

Reddit has to be the most biased news source ever. They act like Bernie is Liberal Jesus, and pretend that he actually has a chance at winning.

Except there's always comments saying exactly what you are saying nearly every time he gets brought up outside the Sanders subreddit.

The thing about counter-slacktivism that I just can't get behind, is that they act like they are an enlightened minority and everyone else is naive and biased.

Is this counter-counter-slacktivism?

Unless you are referring to the Sanders subreddit specifically, then ya probably.

That I am. You cant even ask critical questions of the guy.

Every counter circle-jerks greatest weakness is that it pretends it doesn't exist, therefore when it becomes big enough it simply becomes the thing it is trying to act against. Most people need a healthy dose of unbiased rational thinking, not just on reddit.

It's just that many redditors only get the spirit of skepticism, and become pessimistic counter culture assholes instead of critical thinkers. It's still better than the general population, which rarely attempts skepticism/critical analysis at all.

[–]Jitte 7

It isn't counter-slacktivism, it is called having a discussion about the meta of reddit. Calling it counter-slacktivism is just you trying to place yourself above the other person in an effort to look more smartly.

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2016/president/us/2016_democratic_presidential_nomination-3824.html

According to RealClearPolitics, Hillary only has a 24.2% lead over Bernie. That's not a crazy gap. Just look at how his poll numbers have climbed over the last few months. I don't think even Ron Paul had that kind of performance. I think the Reddit enthusiasm has spread to (at least on my feed) Facebook enthusiasm. My sister who hasn't followed politics or voted in the last couple presidentials and mid-terms shocked me by posting stuff about him. I think the Bernie Sanders train deserves a bit more credit.

I kind of see where you're coming from with the whole Ron Paul thing, but there's a big difference between an election with an incumbent and an election where both parties are competing for the nomination.

The fact right now is that Bernie is being talked about on all sorts of late night shows and news channels and shit right now, which is huge. He's doing very well for himself as a grassroots campaigner for now. I have heard multiple people talking about Bernie Sanders in the city I live in(in Kentucky, mind you). I know for a damned fact that I'd know exactly who he is if I'd never heard of reddit.

I hate the hivemind circlejerk as much as you do, and I can see where your skepticism is coming from, but I wholeheartedly disagree with your comparison of Sanders' campaign and Paul's campaign.

reddit is more like my alert system than a news outlet. "oh hey trump is running, I'm going to look up what his campaign goals are."

He is literally Hitler, he wants to kill everyone, make video games illegal, and force all strong independent womyn into the hands of jerk Chads instead of the nice guys they really want but just haven't realize it yet!

source: reddit

I cant support him because then i would have to unfriend all my facebook friends apparently.

He does have a chance at winning. Go to any legitimate betting website and Hilary's chances at winning are 80%. If you think that's wrong, by all means place a bet and clean the fuck up.

However the free market is surprisingly hard to beat at forecasting, given the information it knows. Quite like the stock market.

Ipso facto, Bernie has around a 10-20% at securing the nomination apparently. That ain't great but it is "a chance."

Fuck you, Bernie Sanders will make anime real! Upboat if you agree!

I posted something on another topic yesterday, but I think the hate for "slacktivism" is kind of dumb. If I'm talking to a group of friends and mention something political, I'm having good conversation. If I talk to those exact same friends with the exact same words on social media, suddenly I'm a "slacktivist".

Hell, people yesterday were hating on the rainbow filter thing on facebook. That wasn't even a movement, but was just people celebrating a supreme court decision. I think reddit just has a large group of people who hate social media and get butthurt by it as much as possible.

Reddit probably has that. It also has a large group of astroturfers whose job it is to create credibility-destroying memes around specific social/political/economic agendas.

And using social media to drive donations works for causes, especially when well thought out and engineered for maximum impact in minimal time. The ice bucket challenge reaped millions for research.
