“My overall impression of this group is that their purpose is to track and bait and relentlessly ask to be invited until they get a ‘no,’ so they can bring a suit,” Hoffman told Yahoo News. “They’re not interested in actually reaping the benefits of the events they’re trying to get into.”
In other words: "We don't want it, but we can't have it, so we don't want anybody else to have it either." And then they walk away proud of what they've accomplished.
If feminists are going to subjugate men through providing services and MRAs are going to promote equality by removing services, I know which side I'm rooting for.

Nice to see that the Scorched Earth policy is alive and well today.

I actually have trouble wrapping my head around this mindset. I mean, for Chrissake, don't they have something better to do with their time?

Candelore — who has been a member of NCFM for four years—has been the plaintiff in 10 civil cases since 2011, not including his case against Chic CEO. In nine of those ten cases, he was represented by Rava. In eight of those, Crouch joined him as a plaintiff. In seven of those cases, Allison was a plaintiff. In sum, these men are often discriminated against together.
Literal professional victims.

Yahoo News so sassy
[–]chewinchawingumbiscotti censor 31 points32 points33 points  (6 children)
Those comments though:
It is high time to help white American males from being discriminated against. Everyone should be treated equally including the white American male in all aspects of life.
[–]Teeg_Dougland 20 points21 points22 points  (2 children)
It's Yahoo News; the only comment section worse than YouTube.

What about Breitbart and The Daily Stormer?
[–]sajberhippienRevolutionary Defeatist 15 points16 points17 points  (0 children)
Those don't have comment sections; they have acid pits.
[–]Anus_Blenders 8 points9 points10 points  (0 children)
People like that remind me of a political cartoon I saw a while ago. It showed a white man standing on a black man's back in order to climb a cliff. Then when the black man asked for a hand up the white man said something like "Sorry I can't help you because I believe everyone should be treated equally. Just pull yourself up like I did."

Wow such minority. Many oppression. Much suffering. Wow.

Sad thing is, you wouldn't have to change much to make that a flatly sarcastic comment.
[–]noodlewormEss jay duble-who? 15 points16 points17 points  (1 child)
They're going after geek girl too? Ugh.
The solution for now is really to invite them a long. I can imagine grinning as you sit them at a table surrounded by women go silently stare at them expectantly.
In my experience having any female orientated names on groups always seems to keep dudes out, even when they aren't actually banned,
When my companies women's group hosts an event we have to explicitly ask men to attend, otherwise they will assume they can't.
[–]Wrecksomethingess(ay) jay dubya 19 points20 points21 points  (1 child)
According to a legal complaint that they later filed with National Coalition for Men president Harry Crouch, Burns turned them away at the door, saying the event “was only open to women.”
So that's what their legal complaint says. But itmay be a fabrication,
Burns told CNNMoney that men are allowed to attend her events, but that particular one was at capacity. But Chic CEO's promotional materials -- which all catered to women -- were fuel for the lawsuit.
So to recap, the private event is aimed at helping women but men can attend. Three men (MRAs) were turned away because it was full, and are alleging this is gender discrimination.
Rava told Yahoo News that he doesn’t see the value in women-focused events, even if they have no discriminatory intent. He calls the desire to hold them “strange and sad.”
This coming from a secretary of an MRA group that holds all kinds of events focused on men.
... she eventually settled the case to avoid exorbitant legal fees. ... Rava, however, would like to remind Burns that the matter is not yet settled.
“Chic CEO never refunded my two clients the $20 they each prepaid Chic for a reservation for the event,” he says.
It's literally "settled." You settled the lawsuit. It's settled. Include $20 in the settlement if you expect $20.
[–]Talksiq☠Skeleton Justice Warrior☠ 1 point2 points3 points  (0 children)
That or they had the worst written settlement agreement in human history and their attorney actually forgot the section about terminating all other claims.
[–]InMedeasRage☭☭Cultural Marxist☭☭ 12 points13 points14 points  (1 child)
So now people know what's going down. I wonder how long it would take to find a dozen violations of any particular law within this association.
Like if a woman tried to use their services to file a grievance about anything.
[–]myGGthrowaway 5 points6 points7 points  (0 children)
I'd imagine they wouldn't need to take cases that are outside the scope of their mission. I'm sure the aclu and other activist orgs decline cases all time. If the cfm was holding men only networking events maybe they would be afoul of the law.
[–]ccmulliganCourtroom Justice Warrior 16 points17 points18 points  (0 children)
I bet the people cheering this are the same ones who decry patent trolls.
[–]jbradfieldWhitest Knight 14 points15 points16 points  (2 children)
(Rava refused to speak to me on the phone because he said he was concerned Yahoo News would misquote him. He also later emailed me to say: “I hope you print all sides to your story, because I am sure you would not want someone to publish a story about you on the Internet labeling you a ‘predator,’ a ‘gigantic bitch,’ an ‘elitist,’ a ‘soulless harpie,’ a ‘narcissist,’ and a ‘dumb woman,’ without that story presenting facts or opinions to the contrary.”)
A real paragon of the law, there.
[–]McCaberSweet Jerman Wizard 11 points12 points13 points  (0 children)
Man, I wonder what the misquote must have looked like.
[–]Talksiq☠Skeleton Justice Warrior☠ 0 points1 point2 points  (0 children)
At this point you just show a screenshot of the email. "We didn't make this shit up."
Edit: Also good to know he'll willingly set himself up for a libel suit.

I just ran into a guy today who was talking about how there's something like 200 Women's Studies courses in the US, and 0 Men's Studies courses. I pointed out that everything else assumes male as the default, and he told me I "wasn't being logical."
[–]DreadSkeleton 4 points5 points6 points  (0 children)
That is literally untrue; Men's Studies is actually an active field in academia.
However, as that page says, it is generally pro-feminism, which might be what pisses them off.
[–]HamburgerDudeAgent of degeneracy 8 points9 points10 points  (0 children)
Some courses are also called gender studies.
[–]mst3kluvMilo has a journalism degree from Chuck E Cheese 6 points7 points8 points  (0 children)
TBF, trans men and other gender related issues have some courses dedicated to them. Some sociology courses also talk about issues affecting MOC and gay men.

Oh, the "logical" Gators are downvoting you. Move over, STEMLords, we are not logical, we are fabulous.
[–]Blazicus 3 points4 points5 points  (2 children)
Just ask him if he ever took a History class.
[–]_rhetz_Sarcastic Jeff Winger 7 points8 points9 points  (1 child)
Funny you mention that. He had asked me for an example of a class that focused on men, so I brought up History. World, European, American, whatever. They tend to only talk about men. His response? "Well, what about Math, or the Sciences, or Sociology? You only have one example."
When I told him that he also only had one example, he brought out the "illogical" argument.
[–]Blazicus 6 points7 points8 points  (0 children)
After 10,000 years of thinking that we're the only person in the room who should be speaking it is difficult for some of us to understand that a balancing of the socio-economic scales is, in fact, not the first step in a takeover by our future Ovarian Overlords.

Oh by the elder things, the only place that's right to use that word is when discussing formal logic systems, not irl /facepalm

What's the relevance of the law being passed in the 50s?
[–]VorpalEskimo+2 against bigotry 0 points1 point2 points  (0 children)
To highlight how horrible it is that it's being used to be more regressive than the people that more or less want to make things stricter than the actual 1950s?
I found it interesting, at any rate.
