I'm a religious person (sorta) myself, and while I do find this a little... To say the least, odd, but it's nothing too cringe-worthy. Then again, I've grown up seeing similar things so it's not too big of a surprise. Heck, maybe it could get kids off of their parent's iPads at church and do actually read for once.

I dunno, it's just a little odd to me.

This comments section is the most Reddit thing I have seen today.

You can practically smell the neckbeard.

Ahh yes, pure sweat and doritos- any Redditor could recognize it for miles.

And the fedora tipping...

The fact that this is the top comment is the most reddit thing i've seen today

The first thing I see when I look at the comments is downvotes, and I mean tons of downvotes. Please don't downvote based on other people's religion or lack thereof one.

True, but there's a difference between disapproving of religion and disapproving of indoctrination.

So much salt

Is that the thread karma or commentkarma? I want to know how I can see the % of comment upvotes

Thread karma. I don't know if it's possible to view comment karma ratios.

It used to be...

It used to be.

Meh. It's a little weird, but it seems harmless enough and almost cute. I bet the dude who wrote this got his kids involved to take whatever screenshots are in there.

Certainly hope this doesn't become a thing though.

I'm not very religious, but this is just adorable and I see no wrong with it.

I've seen a bit of this, it is actually quite charming and half decently made if you ask me. It has actually been around for quite a while, over a year I think? I've seen it here once or twice a few months back.

I think this is creative as fuck.

If you don't like the book then don't buy it, really that simple. Any family who would buy this book for their child is already likely raising them by their religion anyway.

Though I do wonder how much of the Bible is omitted given some of the more violent sections.

Just ask anyone who teaches/ went to Sunday school.

To answer your question they most likely leave out all of the sex and murder, but leave in more "harsh" passages than you'd assume.

Whats wrong with it?

I assume it's the idea of co-opting a game for the purpose of preaching something entirely unrelated. I don't see anything inherently wrong with it, but it just seems kind of like they're pandering to kids

If it's anything like the Brick Bible, it's super inappropriate for kids. Granted, a lot of specific scenes from the Old Testament are pretty kids inappropriate (buckets of foreskin, anyone?) but seeing it layed out in Lego.... Egh.

[–]Toraden [

It's like saying "How dare they make cartoon versions of the Bible stories!? It's like they're trying to get kids to learn about that Bible by using something they already enjoy!"

That's the idea!

I just don't like the fact that they are using something that young, impressionable kids enjoy to try and forward their views. I'm sure they're nothing too heavy, just your basic little-kids Sunday school stuff probably. I'd guess they'd have David vs. Goliath but not the part where he cuts off his head and carries it back (but it be kinda funny to see Goliath's head placed on the ground with Redstone thrown around it) but pushing religion on young kids just rubs me the wrong way even when there are good intentions (teaching morals and the like). I'm sure there's nothing nefarious behind the book and I'm not saying the book shouldn't exist or anything like that.

Christian parents want to raise Christian kids, not your kids. It's cool. Let's all live on this world together. K?

I mean, other than the Christian parents that DO want to raise my kids. Fuck that particular brand of asshole though.

Actually are those Christians even parents? I kind of suspect them to be the kind of person with nothing better to do, and raising your own kids would certainly be something better to do.

This triggers the neckbeard.

The incredible amount of downvotes in here is completely and utterly unlike this sub, what is going on and which sub is brigading?

[–]Toraden [

No one's brigading, it just appears that the majority of the users in this sub are religiously tolerant and are downvoting those who aren't I guess

Hahaha! Amazing. Where'd you find this?

There are these things called "libraries", and believe it or not, they might have the same book.

I don't see anything wrong with it...

Do you have a link to where I can buy one? It reminds me of The Brick Bible

he amount of butthurt associated with something as simple as this is kind of pathetic.

comment score below threshold, comment score below threshold everywhere

Religion is like a penis, it's nice to have one and to be proud of it. But you shouldn't wag around with it in public and especially not push it down the throat of little children

Relevant

I don't get what the big deal is.

This has already been posted few months ago

It's nothing different than if it was Sesame Street or Iron Man. Personally not a fan of mixing other things with religion that weren't meant to be, and I don't want children thinking minecraft is some religious game.

It's a game made for creativity. So what? What's wrong with people who agree on something creating it with a creative game?

You only say "oh no" because it's the bible and that's cool on the internet.

It would get no screen time if it were the iliad or some phlosophy-related book.

Chill.

I really don't think they should be doing this. I know there's something wrong about this, but I can't explain how. The only thing I can really say is about how they're 'manipulating' a game popular with children to get unknowing children into a religion. It just seems a bit wrong in my opinion.

This is a children's book. If you're looking for "The Brick Testament" except in Minecraft instead of Lego. Don't buy the book.

[–]Lyzern 0

What's odd here is that christians were always the first to condemn video games and now they aim to make money off minecraft. Cool.

Whats odd is that people who see Christians immediately force ideals and agendas associated with a few extreme people within the group.

There is absolutely nothing in the Bible against minecraft and I am aware of millions of Christian kids who have families who enjoy the good natured and clean fun of the game.

[–]Toraden [

lol "All Christians are the same because I hear about some saying stupid things on the news/ interenet!"

Just like all athiests are pompous, egotistical, know-it-alls right!? /s

That's generalizing who knows how many people (mostly because I'm too lazy to look it up). It's not strange that there's one that doesn't think that, is it?

[–]Avexyli [

I think this is pretty cool, actually.
