Mine talk about this way about foreign people. It bothers me but I try not to think about it. Live in a way that minimizes your stress and realize people are idiots.

I'd kick him right in the nuts to show him what ethnicity he is!

I just don't understand how people can be so full of hate.

Edit: Update. http://i.imgur.com/NvFCpQE.png

From the title, it sounds like you at least somewhat understand.

Oh these aching sides of mine... OP self-destruct

It appears that I've been hoisted by my own petard.

My mother has said, and I quote, "Look at those scared niggers run because someone pulled out a gun." And, "I don't know why people blame white people for slavery in the U.S.. The first person to sell a nigger was another damn nigger." If we ask her to do too much she says, "You're treating me like everyone's fucking nigger." She's also said flat out, "I hate niggers."

Then she gets super offended if I say she's racist. What the fuck does she think racists do? Eat black people?

Besides the fact that they arent very smart. They are also insecure. Notice how each and every comment is saying how they would or wouldn't do something. They are trying to show others how righteous and brave (in their mind and culture) they are.

"I would do this if I were in the situation"

"Oh yeah? Well I wouldn't let my child do this and that".

It's all about them trying to look good and conform amongst their peers.

"Either would I."

Says it all right there.

[–]StinkpotTurtleI don't like the things. 3

Also "your a homosexual."

Partially because nobody ever told them it was wrong.

I don't know why you got downvoted but I think that has a lot to do with it. If your parents are racist, homophobe pieces of shit, you probably will be too.

That's becoming less and less true with the Internet age. Newer generations are exposed to it more often and it becomes accepted. My parents are homophobic and racist but I was exposed to it so I'm not.

Or you can be exposed to it and hate it even more. Sort any thread about race or gender here to controversial.

Same here. I'm from the deep south and raised in Baptist church. I was taught not to trust other races and homosexuals and that they were pretty much just bad uncivilized people. But moving to a different city for college and meeting a lot of different people and hearing people's stories completely changed my outlook. Now instead of being disgusted when I see or hear about these poeple, I am instead disgusted by my upbringing and the fact that I ever believed that shit.

[–]CormanTPeople chewing carrots 5

I've thought the same thing about my family that are on Facebook: it must be exhausting keeping track of what to hate on a daily basis. It's astounding.

To be fair, you sound pretty full of hate yourself. You took more time to "hate" on your family than your family took to "hate" the idea that locker rooms are about gender instead of sex.

Speaking of which, why can't locker rooms be about sex, not gender? Boy or girl, it doesn't matter, if you have a penis you change in this room, if you have a vagina, you change in this room. If you actually have both or don't have either, then you can pick one.

If you have a problem with my use of the word "hate" then I urge you to check yourself, because I think that your confusing disapproval with hate.

Well, I hate the one dude that said he wanted to beat up the transgendered person. I hate that.

I'm not very good with words, maybe hate isn't the right word.

Why can't it be that way? I'm not transgender, but sex is an arbitrary thing. It's because these people don't identify as the sex they are given and they WANT to go to the other locker room. Being forced to do something you're uncomfortable with is the problem here. The other side of the coin is for some reason other people are uncomfortable showering with these people. It's hard to manage the whole issue due to both sides having issue with it. I find it ridiculous how protective and weirded out people get by penises and vaginas really. Would I care if my son shared a locker room with a transgender woman. Not at all. Why would I? You're there to change and shower. It's not a greek bath house. Hell, maybe make friends with her him and learn something about your opposite sex's anatomy lol. The issues that really confuse me are when people get upset about bathrooms. For shits sake, you're there to shit and piss. Who cares which gender/sex you are? I've never understood that separation at all.

Let me explain. You hate your family. That's how people are full of hate.

You just think you're better than them because you have a "progressive" mindset while they have a traditional one. No one can argue that one is better than the other and successfully win.

But you are closed minded against their views. Why can someone not choose to be gay but you determine that they choose to follow their tradition and thus are wrong?

I'm not really super progressive. I consider myself to be a conservative. I just don't see why they want to actually physically hurt someone for being transgendered.

Because it's very offensive to them and their beliefs and that is how they deal with it. They would not actually do it just because they said it in a group mind

choose to be gay

You're wrong.

you can't just take something completely out of context.. it's like if i quoted you as "gay You're wrong."

My guess is religious indoctrination? Maybe? They pretty conservative?

That's the thing that gets me about the women in my family. It just seems like SO MUCH EFFORT to hate everyone that much.

From a psychological standpoint? Dopamine fuck-up.

Haha, same here. Yesterday my father-in-law was disparaging Indian people, not realising my brother's girlfriend and my aunt are both Indian.

Do they ever say: We should go back to where we came from!

Lol about "foreign people", sure. They're just good old fashioned racist.

[–]Vpvpvp 0

Pretty much. I just live by the motto that "people are dumb" and it makes life easier to deal with. Sort of.

These people are obviously extreme. But I can see moderates having an issue with a boy in the girls locker room as well.

My wife is a teacher and something very strange is happening at her school these past couple of weeks. A boy is claiming that he identifies as a girl. He doesn't dress like a girl or act feminine at all. But he identifies as a girl. The strange thing is that he also claims that he's a lesbian, too. This has put the school between a rock and a hard place. This boy says he feels uncomfortable dressing in the boys room. But when he uses the girls locker room, the other girls say they feel uncomfortable. The boys parents, and the parents of all the girls, are up in arms about this. The school is concerned about being sued. No one knows what to do. I just feel like all this accepting of people...however they are...is a slippery slope and can potentially be taken advantage of by some.

TLDR: A student claiming to be a "gay, pre-transition trans female" is using the girls locker room and is potentially lying in order to oggle the girls. The school can't do anything because they could maybe get sued. The girls/their parents are furious with the school.

If a student wants to skip recess because of allergies, they need a doctor's note. If a boy wants to identify as female and join the female locker room, he should have a psychologist's note. That's how you weed out the perv kids.

Not to suggest that I view gender identity issues as mental illnesses, but psychologists/psychiatrists would be the professionals one should seek out for advice in such a situation, correct?

You're correct. Such notes are often requirements of beginning hormone treatments for transgender minors as well, so it seems reasonable enough to me.

This does not surprise me. I remember there being plenty of weird/creepy guys in high school who would be more than willing to claim that they identify as female in order to use the girls locker room. The question is, how do you distinguish who uses what without using physical characteristics? The only other alternative I see is to designate build 4 sets of locker rooms (male, female, ftm, and mtf), which would be very expensive.

It's a good idea. But it really wouldn't help this particular case. Let's say there was a "MTF" restroom that this student could use. Well...he says he's also gay. So even though he is a trans-female, he's sexually attracted to the sex of the students in the MTF locker room...which would be self-identified females.

See, I learned a good 10 years ago that many labels were pointless, and what's important are the values and evaluations those labels represent.

Since then, society has completely abandoned that philosophy and is putting all its stock into self-ascribed labels.

In this case, gender separation is for the benefit of the evaluator, so self-evaluation is not only counterproductive, it defeats the whole purpose of the concept of gender.

For all that matters, a complete man may walk into a men's bathroom and make someone uncomfortable, and it really doesn't matter how that person identifies, he made someone uncomfortable. The onlooker's evaluation was made without any communication of self-identification.

It does then follow to ask what we should do about people's evaluations, and that (I would say) is nothing. Evaluations can be all over the place. We can't stop them, and we shouldn't pander to every wildly swinging view of the world.

This is why I take a very live-and-let-live philosophy. What goes on in your head is your business, whether you are a pretty pony princess inside, or are constantly offended by something. Neither can I force you to think differently, nor can you force me to stop doing whatever offends you.

The world needs more people like you. If everyone had your viewpoint most of these issues would disappear.

Surely transgender kids go through rounds of therapy; has this student?

He's got lesbian parents. Personally, I think that may be the reason he's attempting to cross over sexes/labels.

I would expect any kid to have been diagnosed by a psychiatrist before claiming transgender rights. If this student hasn't, it would sound to me like the school administration isn't doing their job.

How does having gay parents make one more likely to be trans?

The desire to make his parents happy. They were out of the norm, therefore he strives to do the same.

The parents may also have raised him to be whatever he wanted. I imagine lesbian parents are much less likely to enforce gender roles on their children, enabling him/her to grow up as something other than cis-gender. Putting the idea in his head at an early age would develop him to become something other than cis.

That's actually a very fair assumption. Thank you for answering, I thought you were just being bigoted.

Thats why there should be a penis room and a vagina room... What tackle you sporting? ok you go in that room. I don't care about orientation just your biological sex.

The only, and obvious, solution is to have unisex locker rooms and take the taboo away from the human body.

If you hate your family, how is this just "mildly infuriating"?

Feels like an instantaneous situation, I'm sure they aren't always like "I'm gonna kick this transgender's nuts".

[–]PM_me_a_scary_thing 88ポイント89ポイント  (48子コメント)

Hey! We have the same family! (not literally didn't mean to freak you out)

I liked your question at the end, I ask it a lot and never get a good answer.

I like to think of everyone's expressions as representative of what they think of themselves, like how Carl Jung explained the shadow and projecting traits on people.

Folks who are negative about others are just projecting their own insecurities and probably don't like themselves very much. Every insult they hurl is a commentary on how they really feel about themselves.

I don't know man, I call people faggot a lot but I'm like 88% sure I don't want to suck a dick.

But

The answer is everyone is allowed to have opinions whether it makes sense to you or not.

They don't need to be so hateful about it, though. That's the thing.

Having an opinion is a neutral point. It's not justification to be a bigot.

Everyone is allowed to have opinions. Everyone is not allowed to threaten violence.

That doesn't explain why they chose to have an opinion filled with apparently unjustified hatred.

I'm sorry but I don't want my daughter changing in a locker room with another man. Call me old fashioned because I don't have a kid and am in my mid twenties

Yeah, I'm not sure how I feel about it either, but I definitely don't want to beat up some kid that is probably having a rough time as it is.

Would you want your son to change in front of a trans-girl? Would you want your daughter changing in front of a lesbian?

In my mind it's like this:

Let's assume you go to the locker room for your appropriate gender. Then someone says "What are you doing in here? There are children changing you pervert." And you're like "What are you talking about? This is the locker room, who cares if there's kids in here? This is where I need to change." But they keep screaming about how you're a perv, and you have no idea how you can fix the situation, because you're just changing your clothes, and you don't care about other people's kids being in the only changing room. Where are you supposed to change? There's no " adults only" rooms. It's just Boy and Girl changing rooms. You can't go into the other changing room, so the people calling you a perv just have no idea what they're talking about. You're not a perv, you're not looking at the kids changing, you're just trying to change and they're freaking out for no reason.

Now just substitute where necessary with transgender.

I'm not so sure you got that right man ... I wouldn't want my little girl changing in the same locker room as a person with an exposed penis. Or using the same shower. Regardless of how they dress or view their sexuality.

God, could you imagine a female to male Transgender taking showers in the locker room with a bunch of teenage boys? What a disaster.

Most high schools now have individual showers anyways, so I'm not sure that's an issue anymore.

Not only that but there are very strict rules about a coach/adult being either immediately available, or in the changing/locker room with them.

Regardless, I understand where you're coming from, what with exposure to the opposite sex's genitals at such a young age. Though, I would offer this as a thought exercise: would you separately shower a very young boy and girl, say no older than 3-5? If not, why not? Perhaps because they lack a sexual attraction? If the sexual attraction is gone, out of the equation, why do the genitals matter? Would you be afraid to change in front of the opposite sex for fear of accidentally raping one of them?

Let me know your thoughts, this is an area I'm not very familiar with.

God, could you imagine a female to male Transgender taking showers in the locker room with a bunch of teenage boys? What a disaster.

Mate if a bunch of guys can't control themselves like that they should be in jail before they do something worse. Plus whats up with not having individual shower stalls, I dont want to see any one naked regardless of gender.

But on the other hand, how is it fair to force someone who is (mentally) a girl to change in front of a bunch of boys? Imagine how terribly uncomfortable that person would be.

Or said transgender person just goes into their original locker room and be the only person freaked out vs making several people uncomfortable. Because they just want to change right?

Except for now there are people in the other locker room with that same reaction.

How about you just change and stop worrying about everyone else in the locker room?

Because I as a 24-year-old guy do not want to be changing in front of other women and don't want other women changing in front of me just because they identify as a male. It doesn't matter what they say or do, they will always be the sex they were born as. It is bad science, and I especially don't want my kids having to deal with that either.

I'm 18 and a dude. If I could slap a sign on my chest that says "I identify as female" and walk into a female locker room is be soooo happy.

And would they not be making others uncomfortable in their "original" changing room? What if they had long hair and fake boobs and makeup and all? Would the men in the men's changing room not be uncomfortable?

This thread is talking about high school kids. No fake boobs and stuff.

Yeah, you're right. Though, to be fair it's not as if high school girls have much to show off anyways. And it's not like high school boys have much to show off either.

Then they're transsexual, and it's fine. The difference shouldn't hinge on mental characteristics, but on physiological ones. I'd say it should depend on if you have a penis or vagina for bathrooms, since those are designed for using those organs, and assumed sex for locker rooms, so a feminine form goes to the women's locker room and masculine form goes to the men's locker room.

I feel like it should be the opposite. If you appear to be a female, you should use the female restroom. Nobody will notice, and nobody will ask.

However, it becomes more complicated when you consider the fact that others may be seeing your genitals. Then I would be inclined to say that someone with male genitalia should be changing in the male changing room, because generally in a changing room you will be in a position where others will see your genitals.

I feel like I would be a lot less disturbed to see someone who appears to be female but has a penis in my changing room than if what seemed like a male entered and stripped to reveal female organs, and the same if I was a female.

The whole subject is sort of taboo and weird to talk about. Society is still exploring options. If I could choose, I would say everyone should just do what they feel most comfortable with and everyone else should just accept it. I'm interested to see where things head in the next few years. I accept this whole movement, but I'm wondering how gender-separated bathrooms and other areas will change.

I'm thinking more along the lines of what the two are designed for. One is for changing, and unless the chick with the dick is running around without at least a towel around her waist the other people won't venture a glance at their private parts in the short span they're in the open. Bathrooms, on the other hand, are designed around the genitalia, males get urinals because we have the ability to use them, females can't for the most part so they get stalls.

What about those in between? Another commenter made a good point in that they would not like their son/daughter to be in a changing room with exposed privates of the opposite gender, regardless of sexual orientation. How do you solve the issue of feminine form, but still has a penis? Or the opposite for that matter?

Just curious about your thoughts.

Well, I figure that 99% of the time spent in the locker room is with your genitals covered, so that really isn't a problem. I guess you could cause confusion that way if you were transitioning, but I doubt many people would, and then it's just as awkward as the old guys that walk around with their balls scraping the ground and no towel on. I haven't been to a ton of gym locker rooms, but the ones I have been to have all had separate showers, so even then it's not very likely that other people will see the transitioning person's genitalia.

I guess that my argument may be flawed, though, because I was thinking about the functionality of the facilities, but completely forgot that most locker rooms have bathrooms in them.

So, I guess it'd be better to have the person using bathrooms that were designed around the opposite sex than to have confusion and possible ostracism due to outward appearance.

A transgender would never use their 'original' locker room. If someone identifies as a woman, looks, acts, lives as a woman why would they go into the men's locker room?

That's the same as you (assuming you are male) going into the women's locker room.

I don't think you actually know what a transgender is besides penis/no penis.

Let's assume you go to the locker room for your appropriate gender.

THIS. This right here. This is the problem line. This is why we can't have a rational discussion about the issue.

You want locker rooms to be about gender, but other people want locker rooms to be about sex. You want locker rooms to be about what is between your ears, and other people want locker rooms to be about what is between your legs.

Either way, someone has to lose.

Now insert teenagers willing to lie about it so they can peak at the opposite gender.

A major gender identify crisis is a huge issue to a teenager, they should be at least evaluated physiologically.

They should be evaluated. And lying about being transgender is much more difficult than just saying it. This would be akin to lying about being crippled or having a major learning disability. It's not something that's faked easily.

You haven't met many horny teenage boys. The scenario as described will happen.

Changing rooms should be segregated by equipment, not sexual orientation. Just put "Dick" and "Pussy" over the door.

Do you feel that way because you think the transgirl has man thoughts like yours. For example, the way you as a man would think about a girl changing in front of you. Do you feel that way?

[–]Dalek1234My ego is thicker than this flair 15

At first I thought this was a little harsh, as most of the early comments are just talking about people being assholes and how that's not really warrented, regardless of beliefs. However, as I went deeper, I saw that we were getting into more philosophical and ethical arguments that aren't appropriate for an internet forum site. They should be discussed amongst experts in the various relevant fields and all take the topic seriously, without biases.

You're right, this thread is cancer.

I wanna go into the women's changing room as well. I am not a transgender, but it shouldn't matter.

Why are we so focused on dicks and vaginas and not treating each other like people? I think people here just have issues with their own body. If you are so worried about being judged don't get naked in public, because gender has nothing to do with sexual orientation.

did they ever answer your question at the end there?

Do you want the update?

yes, did they ever answer your question at the end there?

I gotta say Blue made some reasonable points, Red and Yellow are clearly ignorant and full of hate though.

This wouldn't be an issue if nudity wasn't so taboo. If all the students in that highschool were from naturist families, all genders could all use one general locker room.

Yeah. Turns out they basically are just scared of their kids seeing penises.

Hate me if you want, but everyone is entitled to their opinion, and we shouldn't hate them for it. That's a dangerous road to tread.

Did you post this article to your own Facebook page?

No, family member that hates gays, mexicans, gay mexicans and transgender people posted it to his wall. I commented on it.

Most people I have seen that are like this have never met a trans or gay person and are just stupid.

I wouldn't use stupid, I'd say ignorant. Bigot who were raised by bigots tend to never question their ideologies and so never get any outside experience that helps them grow as people. It's not hard to imagine this, even with everything being more connected with the internet. People develop echo chambers like /r/CoonTown just so they don't need to make the attempt to become better people.

We don't really know that they're bigots, they might be assholes to everybody, in which case they are treating tranny's the same as everyone else.

You're right, we don't know. Based on evidence though, there not enough support to say they hate everyone, only transgender people. Were there an adjacent post by OP where OP's family members said something to the effect of "I hate white people" (tried to go for the most neutral example that didn't just show simple racism), then we might be able to say that OP's family are just assholes. However, without such evidence, we can't safely say that that is the case.

What's "infuriating"? Why should women have to share a locker with a transgender "woman" ( AKA a man in a dress? ).

Just because you worship hollywood and mindlessly accept hollywood "message" doesn't mean we should ignore science and reality.

mindlessly accept hollywood "message"

fecking judeo-bolshevik cultural marxist social justice warrior illuminati, am I right?

Just because you worship hollywood and mindlessly accept hollywood "message" doesn't mean we should ignore science and reality.

Oh the irony.

I agree with your sentiment.

ITT: Uneducated people trying to justify trans-phobia/homophobia while taking a higher moral ground.

Penises go in male locker room. Vaginas go in female locker room.

In all honesty, I'm not sure someone who has a penis should be using the same locker room as high school girls. Instead of "girls" or "boys" locker room, I guess it should be "penis" or "vagina" locker room.

You were just about to correct comment #4 regarding the use of "your", right?

I dunno, the road was pretty 'rocky' for Jenner ;)

I fucking hate being transgender.

I just want everyone to know that I downvoted this post because the title is really stupid, not because I am transphobic.

That is all.

gets down from soapbox

LOL I wanna meet the guy in blue.

That comment had me geeking.

This kind of stuff bothers me because they're really uninformed criticisms and opinions. In this world, I respect any opinion that doesn't discriminate another race or gender. If it's about a specific person, there had to be a reason with evidence for them to hold a negative opinion. But if they're saying they're going to kick a transgender in the nuts, they must. Not understand what a transgender is, therefore they have no right to say what they're saying.

Not super related, but reddit was down earlier and I didn't really have anything else to do, so I went to voat. I should mention this was the first time I have ever visited voat. Anyway, this same article was posted there and the comments were pretty similar to the ones above.

Oh, god, here comes the SRS takeover of /r/mildlyinfuriating. I predict two months before the mods start banning anybody who posts "hate" (i.e. non-liberal) speech.

Does anyone else find it mildly infuriating that OP "hates" other people because other people hate?

I think my levels of hate are a lot different from their levels of hate. I don't want to beat them up or anything. I dunno.

It's sad, when you're young and you look up to your family and think they're superheroes. Then you realize that they are humans with their own beliefs and opinions, and sometimes you're disappointed in them.

Personally I'm just glad to be able to disagree with them. I'm glad I don't share their views of the world. Just be glad you're not so small minded. ☺

My father just ranted about the BLM movement without tagging it or anything else, just ranted like he was talking to BLM but instead he was only posting it to people on his Facebook friends list, the sadder thing is he actually got ten likes when I saw it. This shit kills me because he was the guy that always preached about not seeing color and has/had all of these black friends from work some even moving just down the block from us because of him and now all he fucking does is talk about race or killing Muslims or shitting on liberal viewpoints I mean we can't even talk about sports, TV, or family anymore every conversation goes straight into politics calling Obama a n***** and defending the scumbags on the right. It's like "oh yeah Game of Thrones was great but did you see what that cunt Hillary did." Which I am fucking over Hillary to begin with so I could care less, or"The Giants are going to do alright this year but that fucking Muslim in the white house is just leaving our borders open to ISIS." I miss the good old days of him trying to defend Tim Tebow's playing ability, because now it's all politics and the sooner he starts droning away in my ear about it the better.

The worst thing though is he corrupted my younger brother so badly that he wasted a fully paid off college tuition from my parents savings on a Poly Sci degree, he practically minored in robotics but had to get that Poly Sci degree so he could try and go work for Fox News or the GOP, and now he's a pharmacy tech, not a terrible job but $11 an hour for a college grad who had an $80k education it doesn't quite fit the ole' ROI.
