Whether Giuliana Rancic's controversial comment on Zendaya's dreadlocks was part of the reason Fashion Police went on hiatus for several months -- or just symptomatic of a general identity crisis the show was having following the death of Joan Rivers -- is something only E! can answer.

But one thing is for certain: The much-talked-about comment is not being whitewashed on the revamped version of the show. When Melissa Rivers, Rancic and guest panelist Margaret Cho sat down to discuss VMAs fashion, Cho couldn't resist getting in a dig at Miley Cyrus that was really directed at co-host Rancic.

"I feel like that hair probably smells like pot and patchouli," Cho deadpanned.

Earlier this year, on the Oscars red carpet, Rancic commented that Zendaya's dreads probably "smelled like patchouli oil…or weed." The comment drew thoughtful criticism from Zendaya herself, and in the wake of the controversy, both Kathy Griffin and longtime Fashion Police officer Kelly Osbourne left the program.

Since then, Rancic apologized for offending people and explained her side of the story. "In the editing process some of the gestures that I made, some of the things that I said were taken out for time. So I made peace signs, I said bohemian twice. Those were taken out for time and so when the joke aired some people were offended by it," she said.

Even if Rancic is ready to move on, it seems Cho isn't willing to let the opportunity for an awkwardly hilarious callback go by. 

Justin Bieber's new single, "What Do You Mean," received plenty of hype before its Aug. 28 release, and now that the song is out, it's getting even more attention. One person who isn't so hot on the new track, though, is Lena Dunham. 

The actress subtweeted her discomfort with the tune's lyrics Monday (Aug. 31), suggesting that "What Do You Mean" alludes to rape culture and asking to discontinue the release of problematic songs like it.

Dunham is referring to the song's chorus, where Bieber sings, "What do you mean? / When you nod your head yes / But you wanna say no / What do you mean?"

Although the official video for the single shows Bieber getting a bit racy with a girl in a bedroom, the lyrics to "What Do You Mean" are more about general relationship confusion than consent. As Dunham pointed out, the beginning of the chorus does sound a bit controversial, but other lines such as "You’re overprotective when I’m leaving / Trying to compromise but I can’t win" tells more of miscommunication than anything else.

Prior to the song's release, Bieber explained the track's meaning himself. "Girls are often just flip-floppy,” Bieber told Ryan Seacrest. “They say something and they mean something else. So … what do you mean? I don’t really know, that’s why I’m asking.”
