Not sure if you thought I meant Veno was bad, but that wasn't my joke if that's what you meant.

I'm assuming he was playing the 1v1 mid game mode, Veno is fucking broken on it because you essentially can't lose unless the enemy is a skywraith or something, IIRC you win if you get their T1 and T2 down, a Veno maxing wards can easily do that before you can stop him (I know this because when I was dicking around with 1v1 mid I used Veno if I was bored of playing Skywraith or OD) and it's just bullshit because there's no easy way to deal with it, you can't out-push him because the wall of wards beats your pushing power, so you either get lucky and kill him (which if he's smart you won't) or lose.

In terms of a real game I actually like Veno, He's a strong early game support and I used to play him Mid alot in HoN, Wards make last hitting pretty easy against anyone, and now with the addition of an Octarine core, landing an ulti gives you some insane HP regen (Apparently, my friend was wondering about it, an Aghs veno hitting 5 people gave him something close to 120 hp/s, veil ontop gives you like 170 hp/sec, realistically you wont hit all 5 people with veil or even your ulti, but hitting 3 people with it still gives you enough survivability for the fight) Which is actually a shame because I used to like building him as a carry, but unless I feel like going mega AoE Radience build now, I can't justify going carry veno over grabbing an Octarine core for the survivability and lower cd on shit.

Veno in 1 v 1 mode is just "I want to win this game". He's strong 1 v 1 and super cancer. In a real game he's kinda a win-lane lose-game hero if you don't stomp with him, though he does scale well with items well.

1v1 mid (the game mode) is a joke if you play Veno, you can almost never die, you can't be pushed against, and you can kill their towers before they can mount a response and win the game.

Whether RNG is natural or pseudo doesn't matter for the script.

The one I saw on PA - it would very rapidly start and stop attack until it detected the swing with a crit, and would let it through with no interruption.

Crits and bashes alike happen the moment attack animation begins, before it actually lands.
I don't know exactly how it works, probably a memory reader waiting to see the crit animation being loaded into memory.

Then you're playing him wrong. SB's bash is more noticeable, but a slardar with an AC and a moonshard has a better than equal chance of permabashing his target at level 25 IIRC.

He's actually not that BS, its just he's got RNGesus on his side. He's got huge EHP but given his playstyle he basically needs it. He can be zoned out of lanes pretty easily and with a lot of wards and safe play you can completely starve him for farm- if he doesn't get a bunch of kills/assists by around 15 minutes without dying, he falls off HARD.

I believe the reason it isn't is because you proc a bash when you charge, thus it would be very difficult (for several hits, at least) to proc a bash when fighting afterwards.

No. It's because it's a completely scripted skill, not an actual hardcoded Bash in WC3 engine. Whoever created it just went with the easiest way and put a if(randomInt(0,100)<17) instead of creating a custom PRD system for just this skill back then. There are options tho, like using (a passive hardcoded spell) Orb of Slow as a base ability since it supports both PRD and cooldown and allows to specify an ability that will be automatically cast on target when it triggers.

I'm a Venomancer player, it's my main and favorite hero. That Venomancer played awfully. Just a sting attack and the gale would drop Barathrum's damage output significantly, because his bash deals a percentage of his movespeed as damage, that would be lowered as a result of slows, and also wouldn't let him to even come close and land an attack without using CoD. And even if he somehow gets close to attack, it wouldn't let him to swiftly run away after diving, barely surviving.

Well they were both level 1 and he took poison sting instead of gale, and level1 poison sting only has 11% slow which will totally not stop that bara from killing veno given that bash had that near 100% proc chance.
