I don't see Farage as a prophet. Anyone with half a brain could see where this was heading. I see him as a brave, articulate, principled man prepared to suffer abuse for stating the bleeding obvious.

I think Farage's main undoing was talking about Islam very early on. He should've let the Daily Mail win that battle for him. If he'd stuck to pure common sense, economic implications, etc, and stayed out of social issues, then he'd have fared better.

Farage is being proved right on a couple of his prophecies as we speak, the downside is everybody with a modicum of intelligence knew that these things would happen. Farage has common sense, and a lot of people either don't or they are bare faced liars.

I mentioned common sense on here once and was shot down because apparently common sense has never got us anywhere. I think the actual comment was that common sense blocked the way for a peace process in Ireland until Jeremy Corbyn rocked up and looked at the facts or something.

Common sense doesn't cut it with these lefty clowns these days. It's all about statistics with them. And they've got statistics to 'prove' whatever they want. Immigrants are clearly positive for the country. Immigrants do not cause increased crime rates. Immigrants do not take jobs from British workers. But immigrants don't claim benefits either.

And so on..... The fact that the rest of us have eyes in our heads and don't need "data" to tell us there's a problem seems to be unfathomable to some people.

Someone should maintain a list of all of his predictions, the backlash he received for his predictions, and his subsequent vindications.

He was right about the plans for an EU army, and vindicated a year later by Juncker. He was right about 50,000 Bulgarians and Romanians coming to the UK, and vindicated today. He was right about the rise of the anti-immigrant and extreme right, and has been vindicated in polls and election results from Greece to France to Denmark to Sweden. He was right about the government immigration target being horseshit, he was proved right last year.

He'll be right about a murder of a truck-driver or tourist in Calais, he'll be right about ISIS using Calais to gain entry into the UK.
