Being asked to forfeit (self.RocketLeague)

Playing 1v1 alone and 2v2 with my brother, if we're losing by a significant margin, people on the winning team will ask us to forfeit. WTF? Are we not allowed to fight until the end? Are we wasting your time by wanting to see the match to the end? This behaviour is pathetic.

Just played a game where due to some lucky hits we were 3 down after 1 minute. The two others on my team voted to forfeit. It's so annoying seeing this, I have seen it increasingly.

Sure no-one likes losing but a 3 goal deficit is nothing with 4 minutes to play. Typically one of them stopped playing when I refused to forfeit, then he quit, then the other one quit. So both had 15 minute timeouts because they couldn't face losing a game that will be over in a few mins.

Bunch of cry babies who can't deal with losing. Well you will learn in life that you can't win everything, and defeat can make you better. Man up and try and and comeback in the game. And if you lose......no big deal it's a 5 minute game ffs

Yeah we went 2-0 down in the first 15 seconds and my 2 team mates voted to forfeit while I refused. Make it 2-2 and draw overtime scoring the winning goal. Forfeit is toxic. It's encouraging players to give up as soon as things look like they're going badly even when the match is perfectly salvageable.

Ya the other day I was down 2 goals with less than a minute left, my friend scored with 22 seconds left and I scored as time expired and we won in overtime. I hate how easily people give up in games.

I had a 3v3 where we were down 0-4 halfway through when one of my teammates left. We turned the game and won 5-4 while being a man down with a goal 5 seconds before the match ended. Most exciting match I've ever played. This is why you shouldn't forfeit a game. Things can turn around so quickly and that's where it gets really fun.

I have a no forfeit stance. I will try to come back on any lead. I've already had one game where we were down by 2 with 15 seconds left and managed to tie it up and win in OT.

I had another game where we were crushing our opponents and it was 3-0 with half of the game over. They came back and won with a pretty good margin.

There's been several games where my buddy and I have given up a 2 goal lead early in the game and still win. People just seem to give up too easily sometimes.

In ranked doubles down 4-1 with 3 minutes to go, partner asks to forfeit. I refuse, he leaves making it a 1v2. I won 5-4 in OT. Probably my finest game. Don't forfeit, people. Anything is possible in this game.

Sometimes its better if they just leave. I've had several games where teammates leave and we are able to comeback even down a man. Yesterday I was playing 2v2 and my teammate kept centering for them, and clearing balls near the opponents goal when I had a clear shot. I asked him to stop hitting the ball when he didnt have a good angle so he started refusing to play/taking pot shots at our goal and trying to block mine. I won 3-2 after being down 0-2. Sometimes teammates do way more damage than they do good. In that circumstance playing basically 1v3 was easier than 2v2 with a terrible team mate.

Amount of team mates I have had who constantly knock the ball away from the goal and send me flying when I line up a shot is insane. Some people just try to hit the ball and have no thought for anything else

Yep. Those people that think they are the only one on their team are the worst. Can't even count the times I had a perfect shot at the goal just for my teammate to come in from the side and knock the ball away before I get to it.

Only the first guy gets a 15 minute ban. This is so that if you're the poor guy left after people quit you aren't penalized if you want to just move onto the next game.

I can't stand when people want to forfeit. Yesterday, it was a 0-0 game half way through. Other team scores a goal and my teammate brought up the forfeit. I scored 2 goals to go up 2-1 as the forfeit timer ran out. Another game we were down 0-2 I think. Again, teammate asked to forfeit. With our team scoring 2 quick goals to tie it up, I decided that was a good time to accept the forfeit.

I don't see what good comes from having a forfeit button. The matches are 5 minutes, and you can't even sit through 2-3 minutes of a game you are loosing? It's also so disappointing when the other team forfeits and you don't get to have a proper win.

Seriously, the matches I'm losing badly are usually the matches I learn the most from.

Either I'm making mistakes and need to notice them, or the other player is much better and I can learn by watching.

If you're going to give up when you start losing you're never going to get better...

Personally i'm fine with people having the option of forfeiting, i think it's a very important safety valve.

Sometimes, you end up being down so far that it's unwinnable if the opponent plays half way decently (i would say something like needing to score multiple goals at a rate faster than 1 goal / 30s). Sometimes in theses matches, you're still having fun, and it's fun to keep playing. But sometimes it's because you, or one of your teamates is badly on tilt. Someone is suffering, not being able to get the shots and the saves needed. In that case, forfeit is a good thing. There is no point in forcing someone to play it through when they are just not having fun. It's just gonna frustrate them, and possibly make them go on tilt, or flame in this match or later matches.

So having the option to forfeit is a way to relieve pressure. And you should allow your opponent to forfeit. You should understand that it's better to avoid crushing someone who is already down. Being a sore winner is as bad as being a sore loser.

If there's a doubles team or even a singles team who is absolutely shitting on you (double digits) then games can take way longer than 5 minutes. Especially when they watch the replays.

This is a great idea, you have to wait 20 minutes to ff in league so it should be the same in Rocket League with 3-4 minutes

Forfeiting has worked out great for my ranked solo career so far. Any time I get more than 3 points ahead or so, the other player forfeits even if there's plenty of time for a comeback

I, by some divine miracle, turned an 4-8 match into 9-8 during the last 1 minute and 27 seconds in 1v1. I was pro, opponent was Veteran. Anything is possible.

I had that happen in a 1v1 on a particularly bad game, so I decided to waste as much of his time as possible. Since i couldn't get good shots on his goal I just own goaled it as much as possible. The game took about 10-15 minutes and it got to the point where he was defending my goal.

I got him again next game and absolutely destroyed him.

I wouldn't have wasted my own time, but destroying opponents after they act like idiots is the best :D in 2 or 3 matches right when I started playing ranked someone called me a noob, motherfucker,... you name it, after I was down like 4 stupid goals. Proceeded to score goal after goal on them and most of them just left, not saying anything :)

I'm a strong fan of the silent treatment for people who like to talk shit early. I got down 3-0 on some really unfortunate bounces in a 1v1 and my opponent wouldn't shut up. I forced overtime with 6 seconds left and won. I didn't say a word but he was so salty in chat.

I had someone scold me and my teammate for not skipping the replays of our own goals. Like, we were allowed to watch their goals, but should feel bad for wanting to watch our own.

I say just play the game to the end. I really don't understand forfeiting in this game. Each match is 5 minutes and it takes some time to get scored on a bunch. The longest wait would be something like 3 minutes.

I just use the mute button if people get weird. Honestly there are some games where I m fine to ff, like if its 0-7 and we have only 40seconds left in the game. But people voting ff after its 0-3 1minute in the game is just stupid and some of them refuse to play afterwards just to be even more annoying. IMO it should only be possible to vote ff if there is a certain time left say 3minutes into the genlke someone else suggested. Problem is some people might just do nothing and wait until 3mins are over to ff.. Tbh in the end some people always find ways to be idiots.

I don't know why people in this sub are so anti forfeit when half of the things they complain about will occur without a forfeit option.

Bad games happen. In a competitive game like this it is inevitable that trolls begin showing up. What I am worried about is them taking over, which has happened to other games that are also largely skill based. I am seeing more and more of them, some going so far as to play for the other team if you don't agree to a forfeit for as little as one point down (normal being three).

This really needs to stop. A bad community, and it certainly isn't everybody, can hinder a game far more than it's difficulty or learning curve.

The only ever time i'll ask somebody to forfeit is if they are 1v3 in a 3v3 ranked match where the two others from his team has left. It's pretty useless to keep wasting time then.

I had a game going 1v1 ranked that I was seriously bombing, other player asked me to forfeit.

I told him that I would not forfeit, but instead would use the game to learn how I can become better.

We did end up playing 3 more times..I won the last game, so yay?

Mad props to that guy though, the games got more even and even and we both had our strokes of luck and bad luck (so many simple arials we missed...)

I played a 3 v 1 after I didn't surrender and my 2 teammates left, the enemy team asked me to forfeit but I brought the game back ended up losing 6 to 5 after being asked to forfeit 5 times anyways this is such an unpredictable game and asking people to forfeit does ruin the game, so does leaving because of losing

I was down on my luck in a 1v1 ranked match and the score was 6-2 when the guy told me to forfeit and that I was a waste of time. The score at the end of the game was 7-6. It's always a bummer to me when people I'm beating leave or when someone else asks for a forfeit. If nothing else, the losing party can at least learn from the other player.

All in all, I have been very pleased with the attitude of most of the players I go against. This is a pretty good community.

In my experience most people who vote to forfeit keep trying to win if you just ignore the vote. Im a fan of comebacks so I rarely vote yes.

I love it when my teammates ask to forfeit, cause unless we are down by 7 or more with less than a minute left then I'm not gonna forfeit. One match we went down 3-0 in the first minute. And like clockwork my teammates wanted to take the easy way, the other team scores again... I wasn't ready to roll over. By the time there was a minute left in the match the score had become a much more manageable 3-4. I had carried the team with 3 goals and 7 shots, with 10 seconds left I'm going in the air for game tying goal as my teammate hits me... We could've sent it to overtime but nope we lost. It was an exciting match in the end though, even if it left a sour taste in my mouth.

TL:DR: Should've just forfeited.

I think it's quite good. It's not without its flaws, but it at least encourages a mutual agreement instead of someone just thinking "fuck it" and quitting the game leaving your team a man down.

I did my first forfeit today in a 2v2. We were about 6-1 down with around 40 seconds or so left and my teammate requested a forfeit which I agreed to. Sometimes it's good to just accept you've lost this game and move on to the next one.

You don't get the ban if your team forfeits. You only get the ban from leaving the game if your team does not agree to forfeit.
