I hate it when this happens. Sitting here laughing at my computer, then the wife goes... What are you laughing at? Then I spend 3 minutes referencing savage kid then referencing this post and going down the line of comments - She doesn't find any of it funny....

Plot twist: it's savage kid's sister. Their mom and dad are using a lot of sorts of experimental proteins to make their children into American pastime legends. All for that sweet sweet karma

Came here to find this gif. I think his routine is a bit better than hers. Not that I could do any of that. I'd get a bat to the nuts first try.

I am sure he got plenty of those as well before doing it as well as he did in the gif.

It wasn't even accurate. Jupiter would have filled up the entire sky if it's supposed to be as far away as the moon.

The Moon's a little less than 240 thousand miles away and about 2.2 thousand miles in diameter. Jupiter's diameter is a little less than 87 thousand miles across. It would be insanely huge.

You should, the radiation belts it produces would devastate life on this planet if it were that close. This doesn't even remotely take into consideration the tidal forces that would be exerted on our world.

Looking back, it's super easy to be cool. There's definitely a slight attractiveness factor to it that can't be controlled, but overall I'd be popular as fuck if I went back to middle school or even high school.

I cringe at my older self. It really is incredibly easy, but even when older people tell you that, as a kid, "you know better" and fuck it up.

Shouldn't you cringe at your younger self, now knowing how easy it is and knowing younger self fucked it up?

I think he meant "old" as opposite to "new". That is, his "self" from long ago.

It was worded weirdly.

As a current 16 year old, enlighten me?

As you get older and figure out who you are, you also get more comfortable just doing your own thing.

When you're trying to impress and act cool as a teenager it's typically overdone and through some risky move that has a 90 % chance of backfiring.

Knowing what you know as an older you, you wouldn't have to act or try. You could just be.

I will share some of my recent experience-based learnings. I am a 22 year old.

  1. Give all your fucks about things that matter, so you wont have any fucks left to give about things that don't. It's up to you to identify what matters in your high school.

  2. Being intelligent is by far the most over rated characteristic for success. In fact, when young, it can hurt you by making you lazy, complacent, egotistical, or assuming you don't need help. "We get by with a little help from our friends."

  3. Work smarter not harder, but work HARD to know what this over-used quote really means. There will be a distinct moment in your life when you realize what this actually means and why it is important.

  4. Just because an opinion is popular doesn't mean it is correct. Go listen to "Make Your Own Kind Of Music" by Mama Cass.

  5. The feeling of $100 to you now will honestly feel like $10 in about 4 years. So do not elevate your personal burn rate if you strike gold or get your first real paycheck. Put that shit in savings for when it really matters.

  6. If you can perfect your "genuine radar" aka your ability to honestly say "Damn... this person right here is truly genuine", then you are miles ahead of most of the kids (yes, kids) around you. Also, you owe it to society to be a genuine person.

  7. Work on your confidence. Confidence is self-consciousness' Kryptonite, and most high school decisions are rooted in self-consciousness. Making confident decisions in high school will make people respect you. High schoolers have only ever seen confidence in adults and, luckily for you, we are taught at a young age to respect adults. Demand some of that respect. "Look at me. I am the adult now."

  8. Say hello to the cute girl. Say hello to the cute guy. If you've not mastered #7, here's a fair starting point that will help warm you up to it: Smile at people in grocery stores and warm up to the idea of sharing that simple, yet intimate moment (a smile). Once you feel confident smiling at strangers outside your school, take that confidence to the halls and smile at that girl or that guy. It's normal, and fuck them if they think that's weird because they don't know shit about #6, but you, sir or ma'am, you fucking do.

That's about it. Well, that's not all of it. But that's what I have for you here and now. PM me if you want to dive deeper.

:)

Edit: Word

Literally nothing you or your friends or peers care about matters. The attitude that comes with that realization is priceless. All of you will be completely different people when you're adults, so - and here comes the advice - RELAX. Unless your parents are beating you or something legit, the stuff 16 year olds stress out about is the easiest stuff you'll ever experience in life. Surf this sweet, sweet ride.

Bonus, if you're not already, make out with anyone you can, you'll thank yourself for it when you're older.

Mostly comes down to confidence and kindness. Realizing that these people, after high school you're probably never going to see any of them again except maybe a couple close friends and at reunions. You think you will. But different jobs or colleges, relationships, moving away... You won't. So who cares what they think? Only worry about the people who are with you forever (or could be) like significant other and any family that truly cares for you. Don't be scared to screw something up. Don't worry about lying about stuff because nobody will think you're cooler because you told that one story that one time. Confidence, because you know it doesn't matter what people think, just be yourself.

And kindness because you shouldn't take 'don't worry what others think' to mean you can be a dick to people since you won't see them later in life. Be nice to people because the cool kid who is nice is loved by most. The cool kid who's a jerk is called a douche behind his back.

My approach? Make people laugh at me instead of using others to make fun. I don't care if I look silly or stupid as long as it's good heartedly making others have a great day or even just a moment. Too much of school fun is based on putting others down or making up stories of 'being bad' which may get you cool points but no respect.

Be responsible, but learn to let loose occasionally. Be nice to people, but expect niceness back. Be confident, but be humble. Hang out with others, but find time for yourself.

The list gets longer and whatnot. I'm still working on that, and I bet I look like an idiot to older people. But I guess that's a start for you.

P.S. the 16 in my name is my favorite number, not my age. I'm 24.

That's not right. The name of the sub is "Upvoted Not Because Girl, But Because It Is Very Cool – However, I Do Concede That I Initially Clicked Because Girl."

It's saying you clicked because of potential cute girl, but that you upvoted because it's really cool.
