The #ThingsFeministMenHaveSaidToMe Hashtag Is The Best And Worst Thing Ever

It’s a day ending in -Y, so men don’t understand feminism, and women are spearheading another ridiculously awesome hashtag on Twitter. The hashtag comes on the heels of a Twitter battle that took place between a BuzzFeed staffer named Grace Spelman and a washed-up, disgusting, rude ex-podcast host by the name of Ben Schoen. You can see their, let’s call it an “interaction,” in full here, but here’s the gist: Grace politely declined Ben’s various aggressive social media advances, and much like Tinder did to a recent Vanity Fair article, Ben pretty much went off on her. It was a delight to watch.
Ironically, Ben is one of the original founders of a site called Feminspire, the goal of which is to create a positive community for women online (LOLOLOLOL). Ben’s interaction with Grace appears to have culminated in a response to the Daily Dot, wherein Ben says that he has “done more for the cause of advancing women’s rights than any of the people who are criticizing [him],” and that Grace’s outrage at his treatment of her was simply a “way to increase her profile as a social justice warrior.” #Bye.

But, because women are awesome, a related hashtag has sprung up and is now trending on Twitter: #ThingsFeministMenHaveSaidToMe. Women are taking it upon themselves to tweet the most absurd things that “feminist” men have said to them, and the tweets range from mildly comical to flat-out appalling. It’s full of all of the male ignorance and female snark you’d expect from such a hashtag, but that doesn’t make it any less perfect. Here are some of the best responses:
This very confused gentleman:
If someone could direct me to the section of the United States Constitution that addressed the rights of women’s breasts, I’d be greatly obliged.
This man who might not know what “patriarchy” is:

#ThingsFeministMenHaveSaidToMe "I think your heart is in the right place but you make men feel like patriarchy is all our fault"

Yeah, can we get this guy a dictionary, maybe?
This guy who’s concerned with the real issues:

I think it's really important that you make the movement more welcoming to men #ThingsFeministMenHaveSaidToMe

OMG you’re so right! Society is so unwelcoming to men nowadays.
This guy who was sticking to his guns:

#ThingsFeministMenHaveSaidToMe I'm just SUCH a good feminist. That's why women are skeptical of me. They don't believe I'm real.

Actually, this particular Twitter user has a bunch of other pretty great tweets about this whole debacle. You should check the rest of them out.
This guy who has it all figured out:

"Sometimes I feel like women take sexism so personally, they can't see the issues clearly." Um. #ThingsFeministMenHaveSaidToMe

I guess my little lady brain just can’t handle all of the issues.
This guy who doesn’t see the inherent flaw in his logic:
Okey dokey, then.
This guy who honestly just sucks:

#ThingsFeministMenHaveSaidToMe Me: "if a woman is sexually liberated then that's her choice." Him: "well good luck trying to find a husban

Yeah. He just sucks. He sucks so bad that Twitter didn’t even want to hear the rest of what he had to say.
This guy who has his priorities in check:
Okay thank you for cheering me up I totally feel better now OH WAIT A MINUTE.
And this guy who inadvertently summed male/female inequality in four words:
PLEASE SIR TELL ME MORE ABOUT YOUR EXPERIENCE.

My favorite (truly) reaction from some male feminists to this hashtag is that of learning. A lot of guys have been reacting negatively or gotten affronted, but some have taken the time to read and learn and DO BETTER, which is fucking awesome.
As for the ones that are like OMG THIS ALIENATES MEEEEE, I just shake my head :(

Yeah, this is very bold of him to take UN Women and Emma Watson serious - I mean, isn't that the very same thing that heforshe was all about (and failed miserable)?
Anyhow, I totally LOVE that hashtag! I had a great laugh, it's almost like sirens have a feast with their male sheeple. Feminism shows its true face in there. "Feminism is for everyone" they claim, but don't dare men speak out their mind... "Hush, boy, you don't know what you are talking about!" And quick the bootlikers are in line

Yes, -women- feminists are very awesome, they gracefully open their pockets and let everyone have a deep look inside what's hiding there: Selfish arrogance, egoism (the same picture that was already visible in the #giveyourmoneytowomen-hashtag, that was so blatant, that it got rejection even from some feminists) and how that whole "feminism is for everyone and helps men too"-thing is nothing but soft-soaping "allies".
