Who came up with that number and chose it?

Yeah that was me. That particular number was chosen more for its aesthetic value rather than anything else! The number appears in the sidebar, header and sticky. Only I have control of all three, and I hereby promise never to change the number. Even if one day I think of another that makes for better graphic design! ;-)

I have to ask, when you consider that Russia is bigger than China, does China's size relative to Canada and the U.S. match? In other words, China is roughly the same size as Canada and the United States and Russia spans over both China, the Middle East, and parts of Europe. And we have to assume Russia spreads this far because of the historical context (wars they've gotten into that they might not have due to their geolocation and that it's fairly known that one part of Russia is more European in genetic descent and the other part is more Asian).

China seems about right. I don't remember an exact size for China but it was about the size you mention. I look at a map and it looks the same.

So if Russia is bigger than China and China is about the same size as United States and Canada, why do you accept that Canada was, in your previous dimension, the biggest country?

Because those 4 countries were very similar in size but Canada was the biggest slightly

That's not possible unless the shape of Russia has changed from your memory vs maps. Was there more land mass added to the north? To the east/west/south? If Russia looks the same relative to China then it's impossible for them to be roughly the same size. If you look at several map projections of Russia and China (and look at several because a lot of these maps are distorted) Russia is twice the size of China visually. What would follow is that Russia is twice the size of China and therefore twice the size of Canada and the U.S.

I'm not trying to question your belief in alternate universes (I am subscribed to this sub after all), I'm just trying to understand what your previous world looked like. It's not possible for these four countries to be similar in size where Canada is largest without assuming China is half the size of Canada, or that Russia somehow lost land, or that China had more land to the west and also the entire eastern hemisphere was smaller in your last dimension.

You can't record anchor numbers and verify them later. The you that was in this universe wrote down that different number. You can only carry the information that is in your head across dimensions.

I know but I forgot what it was :(

So how big is Russia where you came from?

How big is Russia ON THE MAPS where he comes from? Many people posting here excitedly about 'continents changing places' forget they never witnessed landmasses moving, but base their observations on different maps. And maps are not, and often are not meant to be geographically accurate.
