Careful with that, boss. I think she's trans (see the beginning of her CV). Commenting about her appearance in any negative way will only give the libertarians ammunition against you. I think there are compelling reasons to mock her, just not her appearance.

McCloskey is a widely respected economist, being the central figure in the field of Rhetoric in Economics. Her pamphlet on Writing Economics is one of my favorite guides to share with people starting out writing economic papers. She is no doubt brilliant, and influential in economics.

She has shifted in some of her work in the recent decade towards being more sympathetic to Austrian critiques, but that doesn't discount some of her seminal papers in economic history and rhetoric.

And yes, she did transition over 20 years ago. It was a big deal for a person top of the profession to come out and do that. Any lesser economist would have struggled.
