Its actually both. Dota is a warcraft3 mod, and the hero crystal maiden uses the Jaina Proudmoore model.

Let's just go with warcraft female mage. They typically all rock the mid drift.

Tell me that was intentional. Or a typo.

Fast and Furious: Warsong Gulch

Midriff is the word you likely mean. :)

Calling it a mod is giving it too much credit. It's a custom map built well within the confines of the Warcraft 3 engine.

I guess it depends what she claims to be.

Not anymore. Value was forced to make Dots 2 characters look pretty difference by Blizzard since they started making HOTS. CM has a gem on her forehead and the staff is quite different.

[–]Ranzok 0

Yea she also has a different gait than jaina. Much more swift. Like wolves. Of icewrack

i miss that line, still kinda bummed you only get it when activating a haste rune now, even if that makes more sense

*cough*slowestmovespeedinthegame*cough*

The models in WC3 Dota use various models for other things. Maiden used the Jaina model, Pudge used the abom model, stuff like that. Phantom Lancer's model used to be Kihmari from FFX which I always liked.

I think it was intended to be a Jaina csplay, but they literally are the same in game model

Hijacking top comment to ask. Is there a sub reddit with more cosplays like this for.....you know.......science

Not gonna lie, I was like, why is Jaina being called "Crystal Maiden" ignorantly forgetting that's a DOTA thing lol

This is definitely Lady Jaina Proudmoore. Just check this link with the same cosplayer but different source; http://www.gamersheroes.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/Warcraft-III-Jaina-Proudmoore-Narga-Cosplay-Gamers-Heroes-17.jpg

Edit: But this Jaina cosplay is on point, brings a little of my child spent playing warcraft 3 to life hahaha. Still good post in my opinion.

Upvote because of the edit, I felt the same way

She was escorted off PAX grounds for violating their No aggressive navels cosplay rule.

This is Gabe & Tycho's legacy.

Lol what does that even mean? People are jelly that she lifts or what?

"Your navel is aggressive. LEAVE THIS PLACE"

It didn't used to be like that, but back in 1999 a Sailor Moon nipple accidentally popped out at one of those events. No less than 100 neckbeards jizzed in their pants causing safety and health concerns. The janitorial staff ended up going on strike because of it. So, as part of the deal to end the strike the rule was enacted in early 2000 by the local health department in an attempt to stop that from happening again

The fuck are all the idiots in this thread talking about SJWS?

News at 11, Convention has dress code rules for people attending and hired models. Has feminism gone too far? Is this literally about feminism imposing 1984 thought crimes? Are dress standards for costumes at a family friendly private event the same as Sharia law?

Is feminism responsible for all the problems in your life? How far will one group of people go to keep up the illusion of their own oppression? We'll have the answer and more coming up tonight.

This whole thing is ridiculous. There's no evidence this girl was escorted off PAX grounds. That rule is for booth babes, not cosplayers. People are interpreting a gender-neutral ruling as oppressing women. This sort of shit makes /r/gaming look bad.

I don't know what any of that meant but any convention that has a problem with that getup is run by ridiculous puritans.

Do you have any evidence at all that any convention had a problem with her outfit? So far, all I've seen is one reddit post with no source. I'd love to see some evidence for all this outrage over a dress code (which applies to EMPLOYEES).

I'm pretty sure he's like those people that angrily shout buzzwords in random sentences to get people to listen to them.

PAX has a strict ‘no booth babe’ policy with the purpose of creating an environment where everyone can feel comfortable and welcome, and the focus is on games, not hired booth staff.

From this site under "both babe policies": http://prime.paxsite.com/safety-and-security#safety

There is also this:

Cosplayed characters that are playable in-game are an exception to this rule (within reason), and exhibitors must obtain permission from show management prior to the show.

She probably didn't ask for permission or something would be my best guess. In any case it's up to the organzer of the convention or any event for that matter what kind of audience members are welcome and which ones are not.

Don't want stinky people in your club? Make guidelines about personal hygiene. Want everyone to wear purple hats? Make a guideline about that. They can make up whichever rule they feel like if they think it furthers a nicer experience for everyone attending as long as they don't bluntly discriminize people in a way that berefts them of their inherent dignity as a human being.

Are they being ridiculous puritans for enforcing a dress code? Maybe. Are they giving into the propaganda of those SJW-feminists-persons-things or whatever the hell they are called? I don't think so.

It's easier to scapegoat if there's a dedicated group to scapegoat continuously.

Can you please link any of this. Because i strongly believe you are a dirty little liar.

I checked her Facebook and Instagram and i googled and i found NOTHING that even remotely shows that she were anywhere near any PAX.

She is from fucking RUSSIA... and on her facebook page she had to beg for 160$ visa fees to get to Comic Con.

So again... until you provide anything that proves she was indeed escorted off PAX grounds or her even being there, you are dirty little liar farming some karma by pushing some nonexistent outrage.

Doing the hard work of oogling and googling to get to the bottom of this. God bless.

What did she do? Add angry googly eyes above it and draw a frowny mouth?

It was caught shouting at other female con goers and driving women from the con.

So she was kicked out of the con.

Is that a real thing?

Partial nudity, the aggressive display of cleavage and the navel, and shorts/skirts higher than 4” above the knee are not allowed.

http://prime.paxsite.com/safety-and-security

with possible exceptions:

Cosplayed characters that are playable in-game are an exception to this rule (within reason), and exhibitors must obtain permission from show management prior to the show.

I wonder if they would allow girls in bikinis for Dead or Alive, for example.

I doubt it Jessica Nigri, who is a professional cosplayer, was asked to leave when cosplaying as juliet starling from Lollipop Chainsaw.

She was. Johnathan Holmes was interviewing her when it happened a couple years ago, he goes into detail about it on a super old podtoid.

That's a very misleading way to phrase what happened. She was asked to change her outfit when cosplaying as this more revealing unlockable alternate costume for Juliet Starling, not when she wore the regular one actually used in the game's promotion

It depends on who reviews the request.

That line applies for staff working at booths and stalls in the convention though. For just general cosplayer attendees it just says it's not allowed to be "overtly sexual".

What the fuck.... why? Shaming female bodies for the fuck of it? God dammit North America, get over your fucking fear of naked people, it is getting pathetic.

I think they don't want too many people masturbating in the toilets. It's probably a fire hazard or something.

It really reminds me of this photograph from the 1920s, where policemen went around measuring the length of bathing suits to ensure they're not too short.

It's not targeted at females, it's explicitly gender neutral. If telling everyone to cover up is interpreted as shaming females, then perhaps that shows just how distorted our perception of convention outfits is.

I agree it's so dumb.

Are these rule creators men? That would be shocking.

No aggressive navels

I didn't actually believe this, so I went and looked it up.

Booth babes are defined as staff of ANY gender used by exhibitors to promote their products at PAX by using overtly sexual or suggestive methods. Partial nudity, the aggressive display of cleavage and the navel, and shorts/skirts higher than 4” above the knee are not allowed. If for any reason an exhibit and/or its contents are deemed objectionable to PAX management, the exhibitor will be asked to alter the attire of its staff.

Cosplayed characters that are playable in-game are an exception to this rule (within reason), and exhibitors must obtain permission from show management prior to the show.

If for any reason an exhibit and/or its contents are deemed objectionable to PAX management, the exhibitor will be asked to alter the attire of its staff or remove those staff from the show.

Cosplaying attendees may be asked to alter or modify their costume if it is considered overtly sexual.

Why navels though? I mean, any sporting event will have cheerleaders with navels (gasp) uncovered. Ever take your kids to the beach?

I get the whole Boothbabe thing isn't something that they want to get out of hand, but I mean really...

It does say "cleavage and the navel", not "cleavage or the navel", implying that just showing stomach isn't that big a deal unless the rest of the top is similarly skimpy.

And I feel on this aspect it's less "oh god please think of the younglings" as it is trying to assert some standards of advertising that don't boil down to just throwing boobs and short skirts into the mix because most of the target audience is teenage men.

Which I get, but it explicitly says, "Cosplayed characters that are playable in-game are an exception to this rule (within reason)." I feel like cosplaying as a well-known character from an extremely well-known, beloved franchise would be "within reason."

Yes. An exhibitor dressed up is an exception. General admittance doesn't fall under the scrutiny imposed here.

They do according to the last line, but again, a Jaina Proudmoor costume shouldn't qualify as "overtly sexual."

I suppose it's so that people don't feel like all games are targeted towards straight men. Having a naval or two isn't an issue, but having 2/3rds of booths with cleavage and naval as if that's the only way to sell games is what can get ostracising.

I get the whole Boothbabe thing isn't something that they want to get out of hand, but I mean really...

That is essentially the reason. You used to have companies trying to one-up each other by having more objectified models than the other. Quite a lot of people were annoyed by this ( not just your typical SJW activists) and eventually the organisers decided it was not the image they wanted.

This was going to be an issue sooner or latter. Companies want to market themselves to women, and having a reputation for scantily clad objectified models and characters will make that difficult. At the end of the day they are in the business to make money, and the moment negative commentary about the events started to surface in mainstream media the rules were all but inevitable. To ignore it would be bad for business.

I think the real solution is to have scantily clad models of men and women.

having more objectified models

Sexualized.

scantily clad objectified models

Sexualized

A sexualized person is still a person, not an object. Even though in this context the words mean the same thing, still "objectified" implies viewing them solely as objects and not people. They aren't objects being made into something sexual; they're people being paid to be sexual.

That's not to say some people aren't objectifying them but to paint the whole situation as objectification is like saying all Muslims are terrorist.

/small_rant

So this applies specifically to exhibitors then? Or regular attendees as well?

PAX has a strict ‘no booth babe’ policy with the purpose of creating an environment where everyone can feel comfortable and welcome, and the focus is on games, not hired booth staff.

First sentence of the "booth babe policy" that leads into what you just posted. Should answer some questions I see floating around in here.

This is just ridiculous.

Gabe & Tycho run a children's charity, have children of their own, and promote gaming as a means of family bonding. I think it's safe to say that they want parents to feel like they can bring their children without having to worry about what they might see just perusing the exhibitor booths. Sure, they allow exhibitors to show violent games, but parents can keep their children from seeing that content. Not so much with a half-naked man/woman running around trying to get people's attention.

[citation needed]

This image seems to be from a RUSSIAN cosplayer.

PAX doesn't start until NEXT WEEK so you can't be escorted off PAX grounds when their are not yet grounds off which to be escorted.

Bans are for BOOTH BABES with a specific exception for cosplay of actual characters.

No one is banning sexy cosplay, please turn your outrage over imagined things that didn't happen down a touch. Because isn't getting outraged over slight things that never happened something SJWs are supposed to do?

How does it feel to be a liar? The "No aggressive navels" is not a rule for cosplay attendees but booth babes.

Probably feels pretty good. It's way easier to misinform and misdirect impotent rage than it is to actually, you know, be informed.

This is Gabe & Tycho's legacy.

I thought their legacy was the blown out of proportions Dickwolves shit.

That's absolutely ridiculous. Another win for the SJWs.

what is SJW

A social justice warrior.

And they are involved in this... how?

Another one of reddits many boogeyman. On the same page as lizard people...

That's so wacky, I was sure they were being parodies of conspiracy theories when I First heard about lizard people.

I mean yeah, there are some zealous SocJus advocates... But if you read even one thousandsth of the shit the "SJW" gets accused of it sounds like the really crazy conspiracy stuff.

Social Justice Warrior I think

"social justice warrior" is a pejorative term for an extremist feminist, or a 3rd-wave feminist in general. It is usually shortened to "SJW."

Wait. How do sjw enforce Burka like dress codes and not see the hypocrisy

First: this isn't a "burka like dress code".

Second: there is a fundamental difference between a legally enforceable dress code under sharia law and a regular old dress code that APPLIES TO EMPLOYEES for a family friendly event.

[–]Sfenik 5

Your answer is the last word you wrote. They are hypocrites.

Your guess it's as good as mine.

sjw's are hilarious. you just know it's split down the middle with angry feminists bitching about women being "objectified" by video games and on the other side are more angry feminists demanding that they stop slut shaming.

Bogus.

Whats the use of cosplay and cons if ladies cant dress up like sexy versions of videogame/movie characters?

It is inappropriate to comment on your physical attraction to this model.

Cosplay is related in no way to role play as we all know and as we are also asexual humans with perfect manners and a crystal clear empathetic understanding of each other's thoughts and emotions the Internet (in particular a focused and notorious community) is the perfect place to exhibit such images.
