What the crap? I understand removing the list if they found that offensive but to close an entire sub over it is ridiculous. Was this actually an admin action or did the mods do this?

It was the decision of one of the lead mods, and the rest of us were removed as mods. One of the mods demanded the post containing Ashley madison leaks stay up despite it being very illegal and very against Reddit TOS (specifically on doxxing). I had the admins step in to remove the content and have the final word, and one of the lead mods became irate because they were told they can post NO part of the leaked information, hence the message on the page now. I am seeking further action.

Thanks! (from a former mode of /r/Arkansas).

Thanks, Really unfortunate that they would pwoer trip like that for not getting their way. I hope your efforts to bring it back up are successful.

Me too. It's a waiting game at this point. I just don't want everyone to start flooding the admins. I have a request in with them and have been in contact with their support team.

Agreed. That list was very illegal, but that was just one post. Let's totally make wild speculations, though! Who's in? Was it Asa???

Probably the guy that rehomed his kids. turns out he's cheating too.

Really? Missed that one. I pointed out that a local tea bagger radio host was listed.

[–]Arimer 0ポイント1ポイント  (0子コメント)

No he wasn't listed. I do have an old classmate that was listed though and he's pretty high up in the state republican party.

Looks like /r/naturalstate is about to grow.

The Corey and Patrick Show linked to /r/Arkansas - it wouldn't surprise me if that is why they shut down. They didn't want to deal with the influx of new people.

[–]M4ntr1d 0ポイント1ポイント  (1子コメント)

Incorrect. The shutdown was not agreed upon. The rest of us were removed as mods and it was done. I made a comment to about it.

I was only speculating after hearing it this morning.

That's a ton of personal information which shouldn't be posted. If the moderators are inactive, then yes reddit will shut it down. The same thing would happen here too, if the moderators didn't take action.

They can probably appeal and get it back if they step up the moderation, but it sounds like the moderators don't understand their purpose. Names and locations are personal information so they deserve to get shut down if they're not going to moderate. Sounds pretty black and white to me & the mods are butthurt about it. If a list of leaked Facebook names & locations was posted, it would (and has) be taken down too, why is this any different?

[–]M4ntr1d 1ポイント2ポイント  (3子コメント)

Mods weren't inactive. I made a comment to earlier with a small tl;dr.

[–]wheep 0ポイント1ポイント  (0子コメント)

I see your comment. Ok, so even worse, they were actively refusing to moderate. I moderated a local sub for about 2 years before I moved here so I pretty much know what's allowed & what isn't and this seems selfish and petty to me.

Looking at reddit's rules on these things, I agree with you and I regret gleefully participating in the shenanigans, the thread should have been shut down. Unfortunate that the whole thing went with it. It was pretty exciting for a minute there though.

The sub was not shut down by admins. The link to the data was removed and the sub was listed as private after all other mods were removed. It appears now the sub is being squatted.
