Now, I know many of you will be looking at the title above, ready to rip me a new one, but bear with me here for a moment and allow me to explain.

I firmly believe that GamerGate has won. Its achieved all that it has set out to do. While many of you may say that, "We won a battle, but the war isnt over.", I must respectfully disagree. I think the war is over and what remains are the small skirmishes that need to be fought in order to clean up. Allow me to elucidate.

Up until GamerGate, the culture war was washing over culture after culture, lead by an elite of privileged, radical feminists, activists and con artists. These people were either out to make themselves a quick buck, validate their personal beliefs, or were merely tagging a long hoping more prominent members of the war would notice them. Atheism is a prime example of what happens when these political, identity assassins manage to sink their teeth and claws into a culture or community.

They thought, quite simply, they couldnt be stopped until they broke upon the wall that is the Gaming Master Race. We were the most unlikely to fight back, but fight back we did. And it was at this point, when gamers turned around and punched the bullies in the nose, that GamerGate won, before the hashtag was even coined. And many ask why it was gamers that were the ones that turned around and fought back. Simple history.

In the 70s and 80s is was Patricia Pulling and BADD. After that it was Jack Thompson and his crusade against games, stating that games caused violence and violent behaviour, despite all evidence to the contrary. And now, gamers have to deal with shrieking tumblr feminists, trying to validate their own existence by trying to appropriate and change others lives and cultures to more similarly resemble their own.

Gamers are gamers because of a love for the art. Because of the need to escape, for many reasons infact, so numerous it would take too long to post here. But, the moment we said no, is the moment we won, because no one had really said no to 'them' before. Then the hashtag was formed and things kicked off proper. And for a while, that victory I talk of seemed in doubt. But I knew, as many others did, that gamers were a sleeping dragon. And the SJW hordes didnt just poke that sleeping dragon with a stick, they wacked it with a bat.

Gamers want to win. Its bred into us. We are conditioned to take long, tortuous grinds to get that prized peice of loot. And above all of that, we knew we were right. And as time went on, that thought was validated. With every little bit of dirt dug up on various game news websites, the narrative crumbled a little more, and a little more. More and more people started looking past the one sided story, rightly suspicious of the single voice and narrative being told. We gained more and more allies...and in the end, many smaller voices, from gaters themselves to small news sites and channels around the world and even a few big ones, these voices all started to stack up until they rivaled that of the mainstream media in their own way. Whispers become storms ladies and gentlemen.

Now, what we are seeing is a mop up. No one really beleives the narrative the SJWs wove anymore. There are the diehards that will 'listen and believe' and those SJWs that will not give in, but more and more of them are fading into the shadows. Hiding away because they now the war is over and they are trying to spare themselves. GamerGate will never die now. Its a watchdog on the industry. All the good people who love this hobby will use the hashtag to watch over gaming sites and use the hashtag to flag unacceptable behaviour. The only real thing that remains as a legacy of all this is the culture of fear that has been built and is reinforced by a few, vicious and nasty remaining SJWs and the now defunct gaming websites that act as their soapbox.

These sites might recover, but GamerGate has won. Its forever changed the face of gaming and I feel for the better.

I know some may not agree, but, I feel that, while there is still a long slog ahead, the war is won...and it was a war. IMHO anyway. Im happy to have been part of GamerGate, to be a part of GamerGate and will continue to be a part of GamerGate.
