I've heard of a few people that do this. iMessage alerts you when other iMessage users read your messages. So you know if they have read it and are ignoring you or just haven't had the chance to check their messages. She is just really controlling and insecure probably.

iMessage doesn't show read receipts unless that person allows it. People like that and like that it lets you know when your message has been delivered and shows when you or the other person is typing

There is an option in the Messages settings, but I think that the default setting for iMessage read receipts is "ON," so you have to manually turn it off.

Also if you're sending a lot of photos/videos imessage is pretty fast and efficient. I used to talk to my ex on my work phone specifically for that reason.

Less that, more that before the more recent updates only iMessages could be sent and received on the MacBook while other sms messages wouldn't get relayed to the laptop. Texting several people at once can be a whole lot easier with a full sized keyboard and the app. When I used tinder I'd say a girl who had iMessage had a better chance of me continuing to talk to her after more than a couple days because it's a whole lot easier to keep up with their messages.
