Jun gets a new computer!
Jun's computer is... not great. He can't play the videos he's editing. He can't open more than one project file at once. His computer freezes once an hour. It's slow. It does weird things. He needs a new computer.

We're a Japanese/American intercultural couple, married for four years and making videos about Japan for three! We've spent thousands of hours planning, writing, and filming 200+ videos on four YouTube channels. It's a time-consuming, expensive hobby, and we love it!
Highlights of our channel include:
Shokunin mini-documentaries
Mini-documentary style videos showcasing Japan's declining population of traditional craftsmen/women and artisans.

Interview series
Asking Japanese people your questions directly.

And many more!

We spend between 12-50 hours PER VIDEO on average (and significantly longer on our Shokunin videos). This doesn't take into account the time we spend responding to comments, messages, keeping up to date with social media, and meeting people in person! This makes our YouTube hobby very, very time consuming. We don't mind!
The problem is our channel requires so much time to run now that it's interfering with our real jobs--a problem we can't afford to have.
Additionally, we have so many plans for the future of our channel, including a nation-wide hunt for Japan's shokunin. But transportation is VERY expensive in Japan.
This is the distance between Nagoya (our city) and Tokyo. It's roughly 350km/225miles, less than the distance between Los Angeles and Sacramento. Taking a plane or shinkansen costs us ~$200 per person. We could take a six hour bus ride and still pay $100 per person. And believe it or not, driving ourselves costs $75+ in tolls ALONE one way!
For the two of us, plus hotels and food, traveling even just to Tokyo (one of the closest large cities) costs us a lot! And so far we've never earned enough ad revenue to make up for travel expenses, not to mention the time we put into filming and editing.
There are a lot of shokunin, special locations, and breakthrough Japanese technologies or projects from Okinawa through Hokkaido that we want to introduce to the world, but we can't afford to visit these places on our own!
And this is where Patreon comes in!
Through Patreon, you can help support our channel so we can spend more time making better quality videos. You can help us upgrade our equipment so that we can finally buy an external microphone, and Jun can get a new computer that doesn't freeze once an hour! Our stretch goal includes a second camera we can use for our shokunin videos. We've missed a lot of awesome footage in all of our shokunin videos so far since usually multiple family members are working on different steps of the process at once. Additionally, when we interview shokunin we have to choose between getting the video footage of the interview or getting video footage of people working--another difficult decision that's resulted in the loss of a lot of interesting information!
So thank you for reading, thank you for your consideration, and thank you very much for your support!
