I'm honestly not seeing how this could happen with only 4 tabs. Are you sure you don't have like 50 tabs open in another tab group or something?

I can't see how this is possible either. Something either seriously wrong with the install, or we aren't getting the whole picture.

You can probably chaulk it up to a corporate load and whatever the fk they've done to bastardize this version of windows and firefox

I have no idea what anyone goes on about with their browser, chrome or firefox, being a memory hog.

I have anywhere between 15 and 30 tabs open every day. Firefox has never been over a GB of memory.

Either you are lying or you have a problem with your installation.

The Chrome comparison I decided to do an a whim didn't turn out so pretty. Same tabs open as FF39, the 33 tabs of YouTube Subscriptions page with YouTube Centre enabled and uBlock Origin.

13.556GB of RAM usage. 13.556 GIGABYTES OF RAM USED BY CHROME'S SHITTY PROCESS MANAGEMENT. Task Manager only says 177MB used for the main process. Which is meaningless when you separate the processes out so much that a tab becomes a Background Process. I can almost count on one hand how many Chrome processes are running with less than 50MB of RAM used. Some climb into the 200MB mark. Note, this is the same page opened many times, no discrepancies in RAM usage should happen, but Chrome manages to fuck it up somehow.

Here is my Task Manager

Here at work, I have 4 windows and at least 30 tabs open. It's still under 500MB. It's more slim on extensions and add-ons though. At home, it doesn't take me long to hit 750MB or higher with half the tabs open.

Damn son. 7 tabs open with 16 extensions uses ~500 MB of RAM for me.

Just for fun I opened a bunch more tabs. 38 newly opened tabs uses ~730 MB of RAM.

edit: I tried to do the same in Chromium, but it lagged out after 20 duplicate tabs (no extensions).

I don't even really get what the issue with that is, do you people just open tens of tabs and never close them?

[–]glennooi5-3350p, GTX980Ti, 8gb hyperx 4ポイント5ポイント  (0子コメント)

It's 4 tabs.

[–]cakespheresteamcommunity.com/id/headcrabslol 0ポイント1ポイント  (0子コメント)

Yeah, that happens if you keep 50 tabs open for a week at a time, like I do :^)

Meanwhile if you close it and open it daily like non-idiots (aka not me) do it's way less of a memory hog than chrome.

I have 6 tabs open on Chrome and only 119.8MB of RAM is being used...

[–]Koutou 2ポイント3ポイント  (0子コメント)

I don't think you are looking at all the Chrome process if you have only 120 MB used.

In the App category of taskman only the main chrome process show up, click more details and go down a little to see the rest. Or type: about:memory in a chrome tab.

Yes OP, you're right. It doesn't matter that most of people with Firefox doesn't reach even 1GB of used memory.
