Here are my answers:

  1. What is your username and account age?
IMissSplashyPants formerly known as go1dfish
  1. About how much time do you spend on reddit during an average week? What do you like to do on reddit?
Probably a good 20 hours a week in my peak, but less now that it has gone to shit. I like to discuss politics and bring transparency to the moderation/censorship that has ruined reddit over the past 4 years.
  1. When are you most active on reddit? Please provide a timezone, too. If you are uncomfortable with giving out your timezone, you can give it to us in terms of GMT.
My active times are rather sporadic, but I'm a west coast resident
  1. What problems, if any, do you perceive /r/politics to have, and how would you go about addressing them?
A lack of transparency. Public mod log.
BritishEnglishPolice. Removal as a moderator
  1. Do you see yourself as a moderator that works best independently, or are you more group-oriented? Please pick one or the other and elaborate as to why you feel that way.
I generally work best as a technical adviser and tool developer.
  1. What would make you a good mod for r/politics? Describe something about yourself that you feel would set yourself apart from others and provide us with a unique value.
I have been observing the political moderation of reddit for about half a decade now. I developed reddit's first removal detection bots (/r/ModsAreKillingReddit and /r/ModerationLog) after BritishEnglishPolice told me to keep trying the impossible
  1. Do you have any conflicts of interest (i.e. anything that has a vested interest in politics, a specific candidate or social media/news outlets) that could hinder your ability to serve as a moderator? (answering yes to this does not necessarily disqualify you).
I have coordinated with Lawrence Lessig in the past on musical projects related to Fix Congress First at ccMixter. He is now running for president.
  1. Do you have any experience with AutoModerator, Toolbox, IRC, CSS or bots? (If yes, name which ones you use).
I don't use AutoMod much but I'm familiar with it. I've never been a toolbox user. I have idled on IRC for longer than I've been a redditor. I know CSS but prefer to stick to logic over design and I've developed some of the most technically advanced bots on reddit. My most recent bot is the one powering /r/modlog
  1. Do you or have you moderated any other subs? Do you have any “references” from your time in those subs that would be willing to vouch for you?
I've moderated a few. I'm sure many denizens of /r/undelete would vouch for me.
