Can we call these what they are? Reddit Ghettos.

They're going to round up all the undesirable subreddits, put them in ghettos, then starve them by denying them fresh users, votes, and opinions via /r/all.

Also, I'll bet my next paycheck that the mods in the defaults are going to institute deletions and bans if you link to any of the verboten subreddits, further deepening the rift between admin-approved opinions and the forbidden thoughts. It'll get so bad that there'll need to be separate channels just to discuss the people in the ghettos. Established users will chill their own speech, and fear setting foot in the ghettoized subreddits, as they know the SJW bots will hunt them down and mark them for automoderator persecution.

Pretty easy to bet on something that's been happening for a while now.

It's impossible to ban people for mentioning quarantined subreddits before those subreddits have actually been quarantined. They only started doing this today.

You don't think some subreddit's mods already had their bots banning links to certain communities?

[–]SuperConductiveRabbiundelete MVP 23

The list that SRS bans you for discussing is surely different than /r/news, which is different than TIL, and so on.

I'm saying that the admins are creating a canonical list and that it highly encourages mods to make these the subreddits that shall not be named. My bet is that this list is going to be used for moderator deletions/bans.

Nope. Many of these communities are moderated by powermods with over 100 boards under their control and use near-identical, if not the exact same, banlists.

Comment history?

[–]SuperConductiveRabbiundelete MVP 7

There WERE no quarantined subreddits before today. It was just whatever the mods of that subreddit wanted to make AutoModerator ban you far. Now there's a canonical list that, I'm saying, will surely be used by mods for deletions/bans.

Automoderator cannot ban users; it can only remove comments. You'd need a custom bot to ban users.

(It can be used to notify the subreddit's mods via modmail and then have them ban it, though.)

You mean the Mr Rogers bot? https://slimgur.com/image/09j

No, that bot also doesn't ban users directly. It, as well, only removes comments (or reports them).

Thank you for a legitimate answer. Yes it is to send reports as you said among other things to mods that way a human can decide to ban or not. It makes the job of filtering discussions easier.

You are really grasping at straws and making assumptions as to why I posted it while you both try to derail the conversation.

No It just became habit for me because I don't want to give reddit any more page views than I have to. Please stay on subject. you never refuted anything about the bot, just started saying it isn't secret when I have been banned from r\news for telling people it exists. It being secret or not has nothing at all to do with the conversation at hand.

And when was the last time any of these subs showed up in r/all? they're the racist ones, so they don't get much popular support... Now it is possible that in the future a quality sub will be quarantined, but I doubt that there's really ever going to be a large group of people sad that /r/coontown is banned, or /r/kiketown is in quarentine.

Aside from all the recent talk about banning and quarantine, can you point to situations where a racist sub has been relevant? I'd be curious if they've ever offered anything except a safe haven for racist individuals.

Coontown recently hit 25k subs and I knew that was the death knell. 600,000 pageviews per month and frontpage posts more and more frequently

Shit. I was seriously wondering for a minute there what a panichi story is.

      Good

      tired sigh

As a general reminder: reddit can not and will never be comparable to historical dictatorships, as their decisions do not (as much as they'd like to think) dictate the rules for websites everywhere

Being stuck in a country with opressive rules is far removed from being on a website you don't like, as no one's forcing you to stay here

The jews in fact were not given the option to leave for voat

That's a great idea. That way it could be easy to tell which users participate in undesirable subreddits, and are currently outside of a Reddit ghettoized area. Users should be allowed out from time to time, of course, to conduct business, but they should probably have their voting privileges taken away when they're outside of the ghetto, so that they don't infect the safe space with their dangerous ideas.

They should also be prevented from hoarding Reddit Gold, and, instead, everyone who already has it should be warned that upon entering the ghettoized subreddit they will surrender it, and will be unable to earn anymore.

They already hand out yellow badges to people who mod the subs http://i.imgur.com/gKWHEnw.png

OY VEY a literal yellow badge of shame.

        [–]SuperConductiveRabbiundelete MVP -3

        Good point!

Though, now that I think about it, this makes it easy to compile all their names of people stuck in these ghettoized subreddits and put them in a document, so that they can be invited to someplace better and saved from Reddit. A bunch of names written down for Voat invites. A list, if you will.

What, voat is still invite only?

        [–]SuperConductiveRabbiundelete MVP -5

Looks like it isn't at the moment. Just in time to be flooded by racists. Great.

Are you actually willing to bet on that? What time frame are you giving it?
