Hey. I'm Lilybet, and i've been a mod here since May 2013. I'm kind of happy that you guys chose me to be the first AmA. I hope not to disappoint you too badly.

That just because a decision was made, that doesn't mean that everyone agreed to it. We each have our own opinions, and trust me, discussion can get pretty heated once we get going.

Also, that just because we didn't choose the thing a particular person wants, it doesn't mean that we didn't listen and take that argument into account. Listening to people =/= doing that thing.

I don't want to kill all men, tbh. I just want people to look at women as people and not things, and I want people to respect other people.

The reason i put it as my flair is because I got sick and god damned tired of people using "You're an SJW, so we don't need to listen to what you say." as a way to discredit me in discussion about the sub. I was getting lots and lots of PMs telling me to "get my misandry ass out of here" and calling me a whore and all sorts of things.

So i said "Fuck it. If they want me to be an SJW so bad, i will be." and so I decided to own the term instead of letting it own me. That way, I can get back to what's important -- discussing things.

Retweeting a photo directly comparing men to a bowl of M&Ms where a few are poisoned goes a bit farther that asking for "basic human decency", don't you think? I've always been skeptical when that term is used, because to a lot of people it's used by, it allows leeway when it comes to insulting straight white males.

When you've been assaulted, you tend to look at everyone under a scrutiny lens. That's what the image is about. "Do I take the chance that I might be hurt again, or do I play it safe and avoid potential danger". You don't have to agree with me, but that's how it is. You should be able to see my reply to that question a bit further down, because someone already brought it up.

              How do you feel about having /r/leagueofmeta[1] , was the decision to create it unanimous in the mod team?

              I love /r/leagueofmeta. I've been trying to push for a sub like this for over a year, but could never get it voted through. It still wasn't unanimous, but it was able to be a thing this time.

              Are there rules that you don't like?

              There are several rules I don't like.

              Did you ever feel bad about having to remove something?

              Yeah. Every time someone posts a story about a friend who died, or that they have cancer, or they just want to thank someone for doing something awesome, I feel bad. I felt the worst when we had to remove Ironstylus's post about depression. I felt it was something everyone should hear, but it didn't fit in the rules.

              adagiosummoner is just my reddit username. I have always gone by "Lilybet" in this scene, and it's my summoner name.

              Before being a mod, how active were were on the sub? Frontpage top comments celebrity, or just some random redditor?

              I was very active in new and took part in a lot of meta discussion. I have also been a part of the IRC channel from the very beginning of the current official channel, and did a lot there to help out and keep things in order, giving opinions on stuff.

              Why do you thinks it's worth being a mod?

              Because even though you get hate, you get to look back and see how many people are enjoying something you helped shape. You get to help provide the place for people to discuss the game you love, and help people appreciate it too.

              How do you think you fit in the current mod team? Like leader-type or something.

              Me? I'm a blunt-as-fuck person who asks heavy hitting questions. I want to know everything about a position and make you think about exactly why you think this is a good solution. I also help make sure other mods are following internal process.

              Do mods have mods above them? :)

              We have the top mod above us (but not really, only in dire straits), and then the admins.

              Do you think you are close to others mods?

              I'd like to think so. It's pretty hard to work so closely with people for such a long time and not form strong bonds. And when I cast a vote to add a new mod, it's because I really think they'll fit into our group, even if they hold different views than some of us.

              How do you manage your work as a mod?

              I used to spend almost 30 hours a week doing mod work. But since we more than doubled our active mod team, I've been able to balance it with other things in life a bit more easily.

              What do you think it's a good report?

              I'm not sure what you mean by this question.

              What do you value the most outside of being a mod? Hobbies, family, politics, nothing :D

              I value the time I get to spend with my fiance, playing videogames, and my cat.

              All reports are useful reports. Especially when you use the box at teh bottom of the report window to explain why you reported it.

              If a lot of people report something, it's generally something that breaks rules, but even if we get 1 report, we'll check and see if it breaks rules.

                  Modding has forced me to learn how to speak up for what I believe. Because i learned that if I didn't, nothing I said would ever get through. I learned how to argue a case efficiently and to watch my words, saying exactly what I mean to say. It's so easy for something to be taken out of context.

                  Because as someone who has experienced some of the things that poster references, it strikes a chord with me. It describes the fear that I live with. "Oh my god, I was wearing a skirt. Will someone believe me?" "Do I need to be afraid of this person? I know it's not likely, but still..." "Can I go to the bathroom and come back to the same drink I left?" "I've told this guy no like, 5 times now. If I give him a number, will he just GO AWAY and leave me alone?"

                  These are thoughts that a lot of women who have been abused have. It's not rational, but it's the truth.

                    I really enjoy running the art thread. It makes me happy to know how many people want to create because it exists. Otherwise, i like listening to everyone and tracking opinions and mentally taking notes on things people like and do not like not only when people are actively complaining, but how people interact in the sub and what people feel about certain issues when it is not the pet topic of choice.

                    I like working through things to make sure everyone is heard, even though to some people who didn't get what they wanted, it doesn't seem like it.

                    What is your least favourite part of being a mod?

                    Harassing PMs and modmails. People who default to a label instead of reading what's written and forming an opinion on that instead of what they think a person is.

                    Favourite champion?

                    Sona, duh.

                    I used to cheer for Curse, but then Voy left. Now I'm firmly in the Renegades camp and hope they can make it into LCS!

                    I am actually no longer teaching preschool. I got fed up with the poor pay and how the schools don't let teachers tailor the learning to the group of children they are teaching. Common Core is the devil.

                    1. I've completed an associate's degree for formal education, but i do a lot of learning in my spare time. I don't think that an expensive piece of paper should be the be-all and end-all of a person's worth.

                    2. I wanted and still want to go into network security. I looked at the course outlines and talked to a few people and it seems a lot more hands-on working with wires and stuff than programming is.

                    mod stuff:

                    1. For really bad ones, I do report to admins. Most of the time, I just lol at it and move on. Sometimes screenshot some really tryhard insults.

                    2. Not because of hate mails from users. The hate mails are funny at best and sad at worst. I was a GM for private RO servers, and I've played games all my life. I'm used to it. I don't LIKE it, but I'm used to it.

                    Not as much as a question as it is a comment, but I wanted to say you're one of the mods that I'm REALLY glad are in this sub. Having many different perspectives helps in modding and its great to know there is someone on the team that will understand why having creepy comments on threads mentioning women isn't ok or will take care of homophobic statements.

                    People use it as a buzzword but it does feel safer when that kind of behaviour isn't tolerated.

                    Hi Lilybet! Just want to thank you again for everything you do for the subreddit. I don't know how /r/leagueoflegends would be without you. You handle a lot of hate that comes in the way and I'm sure you also handle a lot of background stuff and decisions to maintain the quality of the subreddit. You keep doing you!

                    As for a question...how are you able to constantly handle the harshness of the subreddit as it is slowly become more aggressive over the last few years? Is there a favorable point in time where you thought the subreddit was in its best state, in terms of a healthy community and good content?

                    Well, sometimes I go write, or I rant a bit to a friend (my fiance is super sick about hearing about reddit bullshit and asks me why i even stay).

                    Honestly, I think that the subreddit is always at its most productive and best right after a rules rework. I saw it last time the rules were reworked, and I see it a lot now, too. The more we learn, the better it gets.

                    I don't plan to go anywhere anytime soon. :)

                    I prefer bot lane. I'm a person that works best in a team. I'll play damn near anyone support, but I like to play Jinx, Cait, and Ashe for adc. I used to like MF, but I haven't played her since she got changed up a bit.

                    I can play mid pretty decently, but put me on a melee character and I'm fucked.

                    As for other games, I play a bit of RO, GW2, some FFXI (came back recently after a couple years off), and recently got into Vainglory.

                    Ashe or Jax. I really miss before they reworked Ashe's E to give a flat 3 gold at all ranks, because I would do what I called "Investment banking Ashe". Max E first, take all gold giving masteries, and pick up an avarice blade. take a cs every so often and build as you would an adc with sightstone. It worked way better than it had any right to ever work.

                    I would say that whms are better than rdms.

                    I used to use a lot of regen to keep parties up while I rested MP, and only used a direct heal in an emergency. PLD tanks would want to heal themselves for enmity and a good nin tank didn't need more than that. if you were looking at colibri, i spent more time rebuffing than healing. fuck snatch morsel. (Disclaimer. I never healed a colibri party. when I was meriting whm, imps and stuff were popular in caedarva mire.)

                    Ofc not. I don't ask Riot's permission for anything. The reason last friday's thread lasted so long is because 1: i forgot to put it up on friday. and 2: nobody decided to take it down.

                    Y'all had three magathreads to discuss the sandbox, and i don't know who took it out of the header, but it was probably because more current events needed the space more.

What an unfortunate coincidence this happened right when there was anti-Riot megathread in the header and it had to be replaced :(

                    It's just remarkable how quickly those threads disappeared from the view, as if someone had a second thought about them and realized it was not such a good idea.

                    I'm not saying Riot tells you what to do, but when Riot forces you to sign NDAs you don't have to be an illuminati freak to think the cooperation might continue in a certain way.

                    Nobody was forced to sign an NDA. half the team still hasn't signed an NDA. I did sign one. We also don't talk very much at all. When server shit isn't going down, we barely exchange a few words a week.

                    If you really want to think that I'm the sort of person who would do that, I suggest you take a look through my history at all the times I've disagreed with Riot and its policies publicly. I'll give you an enormous rant on why I think learning machines are a horrible idea, and ways to revamp the honour system and make it relevant.

I have a background in child and human development and behaviour and taught preschool for 10 years.                                 I meant the royal we as in other Snorlaxes XD my bad. However it is nice to know there are other snorlax fans out there. My partner still plays and refused to defeat the Elite Four without a Snorlax in her party. Took her months to get one traded.
