Eh. It can maybe be intimidating, but I feel that that person being open and upfront enough about having a firearm shows he's sane about it. It's out in the open and if they need to use it, they will. As opposed to those who have hidden their guns and killed at theaters and what-not.

It isn't as common as you might think. I live in a very rural, conservative, gun-friendly area, and I've seen folks openly carrying firearms (which is legal in my state) maybe 3 times in my life.

I've never been to an amiibo launch, but I have heard stories from people here. Some of the people that show up to these things are crazy.

Plus, my gamestop got robbed a couple months back. And it's literally right next to a military recruitment building. I'd probably be a bit worried waiting in line before the break of dawn for hours, too.

You don't really think it has anything to do with giving every crazy person out there a gun? Look at how all your gun shops don't even follow the rules and sold Dylann roof the gun when the FBI straight out told them "hold on we're checking his psych records don't sell him" but because it was past the day the shop owner said fuck it and sold him the gun even though he knew something was wrong. Atleast Wal-Mart came out and said they don't sell when t hey don't get a firm approval back.

It most definitely does not violate the Constitution. Being non-American, you don't live under our laws, and therefore aren't as familiar with them. You should read up a bit more on the American Right to Bear Arms.

Also, people who intend on using a firearm to commit a crime, will find a way to obtain a gun, be it legally or illegally. Strict gun control won't stop bad people from getting guns. It'll only keep those of us who legally own them from protecting ourselves.

Oh but it does...less heavy arms out in the public means less get trafficked illegally. Sure some will get in here and there but the rate would drop substantially. Look at other countries laws compared to yours, rates are so much lower because there are less heavy arms out there.

Actually, heeding my advice would really help you to appear less ignorant. This issue has come up in many US Court cases since the 1800s, and has been addressed similarly each time: every US citizen has the right to keep and bear arms unless one is a felon, mentally ill, or in a specific location that legally forbids firearms (a school zone, for example).

You should check out U.S. v. Miller (1939), United States v. Emerson, and Distrcit of Columbia v. Heller. Might help you out a bit.

You're missing the point. You stated incorrectly that the right to carry firearms was in violation of the US Constitution. I provided you with the proper information, and you twice ignored it.

Also, guns aren't just handed out here to anyone who wishes to make a purchase. In the US, you cannot legally purchase a firearm if you are any of the following: mentally ill, a felon, a drug addict, an illegal immigrant, a fugitive from justice, under a restraining order, charged with domestic violence, or charged with a crime that could bring a one-year prison sentence. In addition, some legal immigrants cannot legally purchase firearms here in the US, nor can those who have renounced US citizenship.

Just want to throw in that the United States has a much higher population compared to other developed countries in the world. So of course gun deaths are going to be higher. It's also worth to note that most gun related deaths in the US are suicide.

Look at the UK for example, in 2010 26000 people died from a gun. We all know the UK has some strict gun laws. Also it's much harder for illegal guns to sneak into the UK then it would be to sneak an illegal gun into the US.

Would I be scared if I saw someone open carry? No. Why should I be scared? I'm more likely to get ran over by a drunk driver then that guy pulling his gun on me.

I'm fine letting this guy open carry. At least you know he's carrying a gun and doesn't conceal it.

Lol, I have no fear of weapons as I actually own a glock myself :) But I don't feel the need to carry it every single place I go as a show of strength. It's also not very easy to get a hand gun in Canada either you actually have to go do training to have one and take courses to teach you everything you need to know. But in the US it's just ah screw it guns for you guns for you everybody get's a gun! And you wonder why when they get in the hands of crazy people they go on mass shootings.

I'd be scared. Yes, it's possible that this man could be a local hero. I could see the headlines "local man saves the day at Gamestop from madman shooter". But at the same time, the headlines could also be "local man shoots up Gamestop". That's my personal fear of guns. I don't know who is carrying the gun. Is he a hero or a villain? It's 50/50.

Fuck the activists. I'm proud that you carry a gun. I've been saving up money myself. I've been considering getting a pistol and taking a concealed carry course.

The entire point of the 2nd Amendment was for citizens to protect themselves, and to prevent government tyranny. Those concerns are still relevant today.

It would be better than no pistol. I'd rather go down defending myself than waiting in a corner for them to do with me whatever they wanted.

Also, implying tyranny would only manifest in one form. There are plenty of extra-military organizations controlled directly by the executive branch who are far more loyal to the President. The military is sworn to protect the Constitution, not the president or anything else. A true soldier would never agree to support tyranny, even at the expense of their own life.

When the Wii came out, I waited in line at a Best Buy with a couple buddies of mine. One's a cop, and he was concealing with his personal weapon. I actually felt much safer, because the mall wasn't exactly crime-free, and the intense demand for the Wii at its launch led to a fair amount of insane people doing whatever they could to secure one. Of course, everyone in line was civil and we all went home with a system and no drama.
