In those days it was more about the fun and the competition - since TI4's insane prize pool I feel that the overwhelming sums of money weigh pretty heavily on these players and make them just feel relief at the end.

They just need to rebalance the prize pool so it's not so fucking top heavy. Like 3 million for the winner, 2.6 for 2nd, 2.3 for 3rd, 2 for 4th, 1.6 for 5th/6th, etc. Then they would already know they won a fuck ton, the money didn't really matter.

Not really. Sure, they chose OK words to describe their feeling, but Fear looked like he just wanted to sleep after countless sleepless nights finally being over. Universe and Aui were like on acid trip. PPD was happy. Suma1l looked like he was thinking he could rule the world.

We got a 15 second pan of fireworks right when the game ended instead of a booth reaction shot. That was where emotion would have manifested but wow how do you drop the ball on that and then not even show it later.

I think Fear pretty much saved it from being a total disaster. Talking about taking a vacation and a break from dota, and reminding everyone just how much they've been playing.

Honestly they should've just given them more time between the victory and the interview, so that they could actually decompress. Fill the rest with analysis or something, you know? It's not like we just had four matches you could cover or something.

I think the audio was set up poorly at the desk for interviews. Any crowd noise and they couldn't hear him. It makes it doubly awkward for everyone.

The only one who didn't seem fazed by it all was Fear everyone else seemed to have at least a moment when they realized they won. They were probably so tired and they had been holding in their excitement after winning two games that they probably didn't really believe it happened. This is something Riot had problems with for several worlds as well, see the closing ceremony for S4 worlds and see what they did, that's how you close. You keep the team on stage MUCH longer, it's about them after all.

Got to see Imagine Dragons perform a great set that started with "I'm on top of the world." which fit really well. The entire time it had a shit ton of confetti raining on top of the SSW players as they kissed the trophy and posed with it for a good 10 minutes.

Hard to hype up EG when they're just like "welp... here's the trophy, AND HERE'S DEADMAU5"

Completely agree. Past years the winners were the focus of the closing ceremony. Gabe came out and talk, maybe an announcement and all.

But it was the winners 30min of fame, after all they're the ones making this entertaining and training hard all year. Mau5 is my favourite dj but this was really a disaster. They moved Dota from the stage in less than 5 min.

Hope it doesn't happen again in TI6.

EDIT: Welp, all they had to say was "We will leave the champions celebrate in private for a bit and we'll be back with them. Meanwhile enjoy Deadmau5" or something along those lines. That would've been a little more acceptable maybe.

I feel like Riot did a much better job last year at the ending of Worlds, they won, held up the trophy, and took a few minutes to collect themselves while the casters went over talking points.

Then they came out together and interviewed them for like 15 minutes in front of the entire crowd once they were a little more poised and relaxed.

The ending is deadmau5 mocking generel EDM artists. He's very against Avicii (which he played at last - levels, which he usually do to mock EDM) and his little flying around was probably to mock that "DJs just press play" (his opinion on it).
He's a very progressive artist. He's not much into the big room edm type music. and he's very against the mainstream edm artists.

Very often. You should see his performance at Ultra Miami 2014. or his recent show where he revealed his stage.
At Ultra he played Levels and a "Martin Garrix got a farm" remix of Animals, and just screamed into the mic, haha. (link) And at his reveal he pressed play, got out of his stage-cage thing, and just sat and took selfies, drank and.. it was weird. I can't really find it because I forgot which venue or whatever it was called.

Yeah they fucked up completely. If they absolutely had to do the deadmau5 music set, they should have:

  • Told the crowd to stick around for post game analysis and a little surprise after the event.

  • Then, go back to the analyst desk and talk about the game, do some highlights

  • Following which, do a post game winners interview by bringing the team onto the desk. I did like that bit at the end at least. Was better than an interview with just the Captain.

  • Finally, say goodbye, and I guess cut to Deadmau5 so he can do the music thing.

But honestly it would've just been better if they left out the DJ set entirely.
