If you see the video, he even extends a hand to one of the activists in a gesture of goodwill and she just yells in his face. Ignorance at its finest.

They should have stood their ground and stopped them. They had no purpose to interrupt other than to interrupt. Fuck them. Also i thought any candidate running for president was given protection.

What are you some kinda white supremacist? Are you saying that black lives don't matter? How dare you.

Almost forgot /s

Whats sad is thats how it is to those individuals.

I can't believe people like this actually exist.

Bernie, this nation is too stupid for you.

Quite ironic, given Sanders track record

Bernie Sanders was very active during the civil rights

Edit: I'll save you the going to the link.

Bernie Sanders entered into politics through the civil rights movement, more than a half century ago. He organized with CORE (the Congress of Racial Equality) in Chicago, and led a sit-in against segregated housing as far back as 1962.

Dude, BS marched in DC for MLK's I have a Dream speech... He was a key figure in organizing Civil Rights sit ins and protests in Chicago...

Clinton was working for the presidential campaign of a man who voted against the Civil Rights Act

But Bernie's rally was the one that got targeted. Sure, Clinton's acknowledged the #BLM movement, but anyone with common fucking sense and an internet connection can tell he's done far more for African Americans than any other politican running right now.

I wouldn't expect fanatic activists to do any research into the people they're targeting beyond the most superficial stuff.

it is quite possible they are paid to disrupt his speech and slow his momentum

By Hildabeast no doubt.

This is true as well. The joys of the political system the world over.

[–]the_irony_is_thick 0ポイント1ポイント  (0子コメント)

It doesn't matter to BLM, he is white. therefore he is the enemy.

Yeah, but he's not black so they don't care.

They're racists. They're the people, along with mainstream feminism, who are trying to redefine racism and sexism so that it's impossible for a white male to be a victim of race or sex discrimination, all the while stereotyping white males has having privilege and power, regardless of their socioeconomic standing.

The term I use to describe this behavior is "transfer of privilege". People who act like this aren't trying to eliminate privilege, just transfer it from one group to another (their own). This is a terrible development and I really hope we can get back on track to a goal of getting ride of racism, not just taking turns on who gets to be exploited and who gets to do the exploiting...

[–]the_irony_is_thick 34ポイント35ポイント  (3子コメント)

BLM actually went out of their way to say that none of their leaders ever dared to say the offensive phrase "all lives matter" here's the article

http://www.charlestoncitypaper.com/TheBattery/archives/2015/06/22/no-a-national-blacklivesmatter-leader-did-not-say-all-lives-matter

BLM is a racist, violent organization. The time for sugar coating them as activists is over.

Then it's easy: put them "on the spot" and demand that they must say "all lives matter, white lives, asian lives, native lives" and if they don't they look like fools on TV

[–]one_with_rocky_road 74ポイント75ポイント  (5子コメント)

If you're being criticized by racists, you don't really need to defend yourself. They become more obvious the more you listen to them.

white supremacist liberals

That is racist. There is no debate.

[–]Crom_laughs_at_you 29ポイント30ポイント  (3子コメント)

If you're being criticized by racists, you don't really need to defend yourself

Unless those racists are your constituents, then you're in kind of a tough position. Pretty sure the Democrats don't want to start a flamewar with an angry black mob, even if the mob are racist.

No you don't want to do that. Just drop it and move on, which is what he did.

Quite ironic, given Sanders track record

Bernie Sanders was very active during the civil rights

They actually address this argument on one of their Twitters by calling it the new "I have black friends."

Not that I agree. But some of them are apparently aware and just don't give a shit.

Why aren't they crashing Clinton events?

Or republican's

I'm sure they will turn to the republicans once the nominee is chosen, the morons at the GOP picked Cleveland as their convention city. God knows what they were thinking there. But again, why hit Bernie if Clinton is the front runner? It's just an odd target.

Old white guy stereotyping?

We have a winner.

Bernie is the only one running for president who actually marched with MLK Jr!! If he's MLK approved, I think he's probably alright.

Because Clinto is funding it

Would you try and violently protest a place where there's a lot of overlap with NRA membership?

I'm only speculating that this is the motive, but I think because Clinton has verbally kowtowed to the BLM movement, while Sanders has not.

Still though, think about it. The Blacklivesmatter movement is literally niche within a niche. They have no widespread appeal or name identification, what benefit do they get from disrupting a Bernie Sanders event? It's odd.

Still though, think about it. The Blacklivesmatter movement is literally niche within a niche. They have no widespread appeal or name identification, what benefit do they get from disrupting a Bernie Sanders event? It's odd.

I agree it's odd. But I think it worth clarifying that at least a few of the articles I read made it seem like it was just the two people. While it may not be beneficial for the movement as a whole, I imagine you could find at least two members who would think it so.

This isn't the first time this has happened. Both Bernie and OMalley were shouted down at an event recently about illegal immigration.

And Hillary was conveniently absent.

No clue then. Sorry.

I was at his speech at Alaska airlines arena earlier this evening. His support for BLM was pretty unequivocal.

Out of curiosity, when did that appearance occur with relation to the incident in the link?

A few hours later. Alaska airlines arena was packed to the rafters, well over the 10,000 capacity with probably another couple thousand outside. Sadly, I didn't see many black people in the audience, though in such a white city it's not really surprising. I did see a number of black cops though, which could be happenstance or a surprisingly savvy move on the part of SPD.

Tin foil hat time, but all not that far of a stretch. BLM is mostly bankrolled by George Soros who also is a big Hillary contributor.

Secret Service wouldn't allow that.

[–]I_enjoy_poop_sex 5ポイント6ポイント  (8子コメント)

Secret Service wouldn't allow a protest at a Hillary event?

They wouldn't allow people to get up on stage and that close to Hillary. Remember she is an ex Presidents wife so she is afforded secret service protection for life.

[–]I_enjoy_poop_sex 8ポイント9ポイント  (6子コメント)

You bring up an important point, Bernie should have Secret Service protection as this point. However, you don't have to run up on stage to disrupt a rally. Again 0 Hillary rallies have been disrupted by this movement, why? It doesn't make sense.

True, he is high profile enough now to warrant it. Not sure for Hillary though, maybe because she is the first serious woman candidate? Although she won't be president.

[–]I_enjoy_poop_sex 2ポイント3ポイント  (3子コメント)

He is still in second place, and he was even lower in the polls when they attacked him and OMalley at an immigration event, btw he's in 3rd place. I don't understand your reasoning, they don't want to get their point across at a hillary event because she is a woman?

My reasoning is they wouldn't be allowed inside or on stage to disrupt things The secret service would shut them.down before they could turn things into a shit show.

One of the women who led this infamous Black Lives Matter event, where all non-black people were ordered to leave, was Rosa Clemente, former VP candidate for the Green Party, which is essentially the Radfem Party. It wouldn't surprise me if these BLM/SJW types only target white male candidates.

They'll get shot by the gun-hating Dem's bodyguards.

But they can have them, cause they're important. S/

She has better security

So what do they want? I understand they want police justice , but they need to get a person who supports that elected first. Shoving him off stage because he's not black won't do that. Are they upset because they just realized Obama can't run again? I don't get it.

Then what exactly is he supposed to do? His campaign is about increasing the economic power of the working and middle class, and reform of the criminal justice system. 2 major problems for minorities in the inner city and rural America

[–]the_irony_is_thick 61ポイント62ポイント  (23子コメント)

quote from woman who stole mic.

"the problem with Sanders, and with white Seattle progressives in general, is that they are utterly and totally useless (when not outright harmful) in terms of the fight for Black lives."

News flash white liberals...these "people" aren't your friends.

I have a dream

The marvelous new militancy which has engulfed the Negro community must not lead us to a distrust of all white people, for many of our white brothers, as evidenced by their presence here today, have come to realize that their destiny is tied up with our destiny. And they have come to realize that their freedom is inextricably bound to our freedom.

We cannot walk alone.

Martin Luther King Jr

It's like their own history do not even matter

Why people in scare quotes? Is there something else you wanted to say?

Yup. There's a reason why I don't support the BLM movement - I refuse to support any group that dislikes me for my race. I'd say that I'm sure they would understand, but I think nuance is beyond these bozos.

News flash white liberals...these "people" aren't your friends.

But they literally need the black vote at a 2008-level for Clinton to win the White House, according to political strategists.

Hence why Democrats have to appease #blacklivesmatter protestors, no matter how racist and radical they are. It's so fun to watch, as a conservative.

Yeah, and black people just worship him for it!

Not only that but dead simple to deal with: you cut the mic of the person speaking and hand a new live mic to Bernie even if it's just long enough for him to say goodbye.

I don't get it. If any current candidate will honestly try to make things better for minorites and the underprivileged it will be Sanders.

These people are dummies. They are basically preaching to the choir at a rally like that. Way to alienate the people they have most on their side. Shit's gonna get old real quick.

Spot on. That was insanely rude and self-absorbed to take over the stage, I can't believe nobody took them off the stage after they actually pushed Bernie away from the microphone. He handled it classy af though, considering.

I wonder if they were hoping they'd be forced offstage for the backlash? It worked for the transgender activist who recently interrupted an Obama speech: http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/morning-mix/wp/2015/06/26/transgender-obama-heckler-hailed-by-some-lgbt-activists/

Nice correlation! [Edit for clarification: that's not sarcasm] I'll bet you that's exactly why they didn't (and possibly why they gave in in the first place), Bernie/his people there knew better than to invite that. People like that are so narcissistic about their cause that they'll claim anything as repression against it.

BLM already pulled this stunt on Bernie earlier on in his campaign. The organizers of that event, woth the support of the crowd, cleared BLM from the stage after Bernie said he wasn't there to compete for the stage.

I have to admit, as funny as it would have been to see them turn off the speakers and have these clowns talk into a dead mic, this plays the issue off much batter and makes him come off as the reasonable victim instead of the all powerful elitest.

[–]Achillean_Odyssean 5ポイント6ポイント  (1子コメント)

Sure, it looks bad that Bernies people didn't do much to stop them but think about the field day that the conservative and even Clinton camps would have had if old white man Sanders had had #blacklivesmatter members thrown off his stage? Bernie exhibited extraordinary class and that will get overlooked

Exactly. It would've given them an attacking point and they would've ridden that point into the core mantle for all it was worth because it's something they could "actually" attack him about. That was kind of a fail-only thing, like you said: repeat the situation ad infinitum, and 99% of the time it'll be overlooked the way he/the organizers handled it, but every time he kicks them off stage it would be a feeding frenzy.

I can see this being a good move at a republican rally, but a democrat rally? what in the fuck? It's like the tea party disrupting a ron paul event.

It might be because it's the one rally they could get up on the stage to say something, and they didn't want to give up the attention. They were so ignorant of how bad they made themselves look.

I agree that might be what happened.

[–]the_irony_is_thick 2ポイント3ポイント  (1子コメント)

but it wasn't rude and self absorbed to stop highway traffic in the name of a dead strong arm robber?

They are basically preaching to the choir at a rally like that.

That's PRECISELY why they chose it. Because any other crowd would have questioned them....and then they would have had to back up their rhetoric or be removed from the stage.

They also couldn't hear the guy saying "we're going to let you speak" because they were too busy screaming in his face to be allowed to speak.

If there's one thing progressives are used to it's narcissistic ass holes trying to hijack everything they do.

"Sanders was an organizer for the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee and participated in the historic March on Washington in 1963 as a 22-year-old student at the University of Chicago. "It was a question for me of just basic justice — the fact that it was not acceptable in America at that point that you had large numbers of African-Americans who couldn't vote, who couldn't eat in a restaurant, whose kids were going to segregated schools, who couldn't get hotel accommodations living in segregated housing," he told the Burlington Free Press. "That was clearly a major American injustice and something that had to be dealt with."

This reminds me of how occupy would piss off the general public by stopping traffic and creating unnecessary disturbances. No quicker way to destroy your movement than by attacking your potential allies and alienating yourself.

wow how fucking moronic. Bernie Sanders is the only candidate who actually gives a fuck about their cause.

Being an asshole sure does tend to change people's minds about whether or not your life matters.

[–]Rhader 7

This gave me a better chuckle then I would like to admit.

I was there, and here is a picture I took of the stage shortly after they took the mic from him.

Come on Bernie, get those hands up. Stop looking so passive and defeated.

Exactly! I love his policies, but dude don't let a couple of ignorant bitches take away your stage. Get their asses booted out.

What a bunch of pukes.

"Sanders was speaking at a Social Security and Medicare celebration at Westlake Park and stood back when a protester took the podium.

Some in the crowd booed.

"I was going to tell Bernie how racist this city is, but you already did it for me," she said."

Maybe everyone isn't racist, maybe you are just an asshole.

When the crowd asked the activists to allow Sanders to speak, one activist called the crowd "white supremacist liberals," according to event participants.

I can't even. Do we know that these were legitimate activists, or did they get a check from the Koch brothers to show up and be disruptive? It sounds like Bernie needs some better security at his events.

Why do you think it is from the Koch brothers? Why aren't they showing up at Clinton events?

According to some of the comments from r/SandersForPresident, they were actually part of a local anarchist movement, so the early answer is "no, they're just crazy."

"Anarchist" groups have a long history of being FBI fronts.

the FBI was so good at infiltrating the anarchist movements that every member was working for the FBI.

[–]Facts_About_Cats 5ポイント6ポイント  (0子コメント)

The patsy recruitment movement.

Local law enforcement does that too. Seattle has a long history with anarchist protests, so that's possible.

Yeah. The "This American Life" radio show episode on FBI anarchist infiltration was eye opening.

That reminds me of watching some live streams from an Occupy protest. I was watching it for a while and reading chats, and then a group of all-black wearing guys show up and start trying to egg the protesters on so they'd attack the cops. Then they tried getting the cops to attack the protesters by taunting them and encouraging others to do something to them. People were talking, in a chat on the stream, about how the group was just a local group of anarchists that show up to events and try to get the people and cops to fight. There was a lot of talk, again still just in the chat, about how they just like an excuse to gets cops in fights.

Does it matter who they were? They not only disrupted, but completely silenced a candidate and political speech. Some behavior is not excusable.

It matters very much who they were not.

"white supremacist liberals"? Wrong Dem.

Thought that as well. Although there are people preachy and self-important enough to not realize that they were interrupting and pushing away the one politician who could actually give a damn about the issue.

Soros is the one that has been paying protesters to show up and disrupt events. The facts are out there for anyone to look up. The obsession with Koch while ignoring Soros speaks volumes of the hypocrisy of the left.

They're real lefty activists. Check out @marawillow

They are likely either Communists or Anarchists and them using Liberal refers to people that want to uphold the status quo of Liberal Democracy and Capitalism, they would also consider Republicans to be liberals.

What a lovely way to get people not to care about your message.

They looked irrational, irresponsible, and they only hurt their cause. As a 50 year old black father and grandfather, I do believe black lives matter, but there is a time and place for everything. To hijack an event that they did not organize shows a lack of insight as to what tactics are beneficial to relaying their message. I didn't see "black lives matter", I saw "black women being ignorant".

Why is the peaceful political process allowed to be disrupted? This is a presidential candidate that needs to get their message out above the noise of the establishment. Bernie Sanders isn't exactly a household name. Maybe this publicity will be better for his campaign.

My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.

What's more bugging me is that there are black people who have now negative view toward Bernie. I read thru bunch of twitter posts on their ignorant view toward the organizers and supporters of Bernie to this reaction, claiming that these supporters are being racist for not supporting this Movement led by imbeciles who seem to not know a single clue about upcoming election and current political atmosphere.

Not only to mention these fools literally disturbed the whole rally, which I assumed is hardly funded, threatened the crowds with not handing over the mic to Bernie if not respected with silence.

P.S. IF you watch the video of their intervention from the beginning, you will lose your mind out of anger... How can they possible expect for respect treating their fellow people like this despite their cause. Can you imagine Doctor King shouting "I have a fucking dream and you listen to the shit out of it"? Them shouting like goddamn orangutans were unbearable.

Bless Bernie for replying to them, "If that's your attitude, I have nothing to say to you". Just like a true American, he didn't negotiate with terrorists but simply hear their demands.

This is on purpose. I guarantee it. They were hired for this.

Classy move

Now I hope he gets better security

The protestors used the most accessible and sympathetic platform to detract from their own supposed cause.

This is either a whole new level of stupid or a political play.

This picture describes exactly what happened...

The Hillary campaign probably hired the lot of them.

"Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity."

If you look at their twitter accounts and history, they're basically professional lefty activists. They think everyone to the right of Mao is too conservative.

So they attack the avowed socialist?? God, they're committed.

Well, socialists are to the right of commies. In the commie spectrum, a socialist is just a lite capitalist.

They don't bother Hillary because she's paying them lip service.

Expect to see Sanders do the same thing soon.

Hillary Rodham Clinton’s black outreach director reportedly attended the Movement for Black Lives conference in Cleveland over the weekend, in the campaign’s first known outreach to the “Black Lives Matter” movement.

A Clinton campaign official on Saturday confirmed to BuzzFeed News that the campaign’s LaDavia Drane “had one-on-one meetings and group listening sessions to engage stakeholders including ministers, community organizers, elected officials, and other individuals in Cleveland for the Movement for Black Lives.”

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2015/jul/27/hillary-clinton-campaign-starts-black-lives-matter/

They're creating more racists (actual racists, not the "you're a racist for disagreeing with me" kind) every time they pull this shit.

This is so utterly stupid. Sanders is the candidate that is closest to representing their interests. This is not how you shift the debate leftwards.

At least the main BLM group on facebook or whatever disavowed these actions.

If he represents their interests, then it's safe to say that Bernie doesn't represent mine.

It's almost as if people have forgotten that white people were active in the civil rights movement (including Bernie) or that 5 heterosexual supreme court justices voted that marriage is a universal right or that men actually fought for women's suffrage or that white, land-owning males voted for a president who would abolish slavery. I think at the very core of what it means to be a Democrat is a willingness to fight on behalf of minorities of which you are not a part.

I'm all for the BLM movement, but I think if they want people to listen, they can't be total dicks about it. I get it guys, it sucks that racism is a thing. The problem is, a lot of these racists think you are lesser beings because they think that all blacks are thugs. So you're going to bring attention to the issue by bullying an old man? That really makes a lot of sense guys. I'm so glad to see you have it all figured out.

P.S. I am going to try to attend the Sanders rally in Portland. I'd like to hear what he has to say, so please, if you are just going to cause problems, stay far away from the event.

Here's a video of those nut jobs. I don't understand why these idiots think Michael Brown is a good example to use. That guy was a criminal who got what he had coming.

The person below you deleted their comment, but I still thought my reply was pretty good.

Here's the comment:

I can't believe we are still having this conversation.

YOU are the issue. You have the audacity to decide who deserves to be murdered by a cop? There's not a fucking chance in hell that you have anywhere near a single God damned clue what Michael Browns life was like enough to be able to say that he deserved to have his life taken away. As far as you know he shoved a store owner and stole some beef jerky and talked back to a cop and you think he deserved to be shot in the head? No. No, he fucking did not asshole.

You on the other hand, well, being the kind of person who thinks nothing of hurling out shitty justifications for murder for petty criminals never thinking for one second that people like Michael needed a guiding hand not some asshole praising his death. Meanwhile you're ignorant to the fact that their are much graver crimes being committed against EVEN YOURSELF by RICH white powerful men in every facet of your life.

So, truthfully, I don't think the world would be much worse off at all if you ceased to exist too. So go eat a bag of shit you fuckwad.

And here's my response:

lol. I'll defend you OP. Nice try buddy, but this is as far as OP knows. Not your fantasy world where you ignore reality. OP is entirely right. Mike Brown is a terrible example to use for police brutality against black people. He chose to do all those stupid, moronic things described in that NYT article (which you should try reading). He got the appropriate response. In the ideal world would he have been shot instead of tased? No. But this is the real world and I'm sure anybody with half a brain wouldn't

  • rob a store for some cigarettes
  • punch scratch and grab the cop
  • reach into the car where the cop is sitting and try to grab his gun
  • charge the cop with the gun after all this

and expect to get coddled by the cop. And I can't speak for OP, but I don't care whether "graver crimes being committed against [me]" are done by rich white powerful men or rich white black men or rich asian powerful men, etc. I think you're projecting your unhealthy focus on race onto every single issue you see.

"So, truthfully, I don't think the world would be much worse off at all if you ceased to exist too. So go eat a bag of shit you fuckwad."

Nice argument. This is the world of the SJW.

I don't know, it's like they never think of the victim: the storeclerk.

he shoved a store owner and stole some beef jerky

petty criminals never thinking for one second that people like Michael needed a guiding hand

Brown was one criminal, but how many petty crimes until the store goes out of business? If Brown wanted a guiding hand he would have got a job at the store.

And don't forget that his store got robbed twice by Brown's supporters without the police doing anything to stop it. He is the only victim of this whole story

What a narcissistic bitch

Hahahaha oh my God what the fuck. These are the types spray painting the parks in Albany all over the place with their shit I'll bet. Oh boy.

[–]FUCK_REDDITS_ADMINS 22ポイント23ポイント  (2子コメント)

Disgusting. They feel entitled to every single public forum. They don't understand that the world is more than their little, closed-off world. Hopefully the establishment media will start treating the BLM idiots with the contempt they deserve.

I'm kind of hoping we all start treating the establishment media with the contempt they deserve.

As someone who doesn't care about the blacklivesmatter movement, i love watching them shoot themselves in the foot.

Nothing like a crowd of SJWs to wreck a good event from the candidate likely to help their interests the most.

You don't understand, he's a cis, white male! s/

Yeah, way to go. Push aside the one man that agrees with you and the relevant issues you support. You may even prevent his election. DOH!

Where in the fuck was security?

Left wing extremists are getting out of control.

Imagine this happening at a republican event.

The Republicans would have them thrown out for sure and nobody would give a damn. Democrats can't though, because a large part of their base sympathizes with these idiots. This is one of the ways the left shoots itself in the foot.

I was behind the black lives matter movement but not anymore. You can't expect people to treat you different when you have black only meetings.

[–]Yangel 1

Hey, the LaRouchites and the NYC left got physical over this shit.

Remember when the media tried hard to convince us the Tea Party was as a racist hate group? BLM is an actual racist hate group and they get a pass.

Maybe this will serve as a wake up call for Bernie

I'm betting one of the other campaigns paid these women to interrupt Bernie, any other answer would involve these women being too stupid to breathe.

ha ha ha so the snake begins to eat its tail

These people aren't for sanders. Likely paid off by Hillary or some republican.

Why isn't this higher?

Because this is what happens when two of reddits circlejerks collide: gotta keep it on the DLow

[–]FUCK_REDDITS_ADMINS 5ポイント6ポイント  (1子コメント)

There was a more popular thread that got deleted already. Because no "politics" in r/news. Except for when it's ok.

Gotcha. Thanks for letting me know

LOL. This happened in Seattle of all places. Not a single black guy lives in the pacific northwest.

Nice to see the party of civility acting civil, as usual.

Looks like they were successful. Even if it makes people mad it makes people remember. There is a reason why one specific minority has a much larger murder and arrest rate than all the rest and it doesn't all have to do with the police. They are a little bit preaching to the choir though as the liberals are probably their strongest advocates.

Is funny because Democrats created this demon.

BLM is currently the most racist hate group in the US

Agent provocateurs.

Probably working for the FBI, Hilary, or some conservative group.

*Agents provocateurs

I'd normally agree, but growing up in Albany has shown me this bullshit movement is all too real. In all likelihood they're just insecure, mentally ill, and bored. Ironically the unibomber of all people warned against these types (not by race) before it really took off two decades later.

people on the left can be just as crazy as those on the right.

Yeah no. They're just your garden variety ignorant ass leftists.

So then why the fuck do they protest the MOST LEFT candidate? It makes no fucking sense.

Because they are so far to the left that everyone else is too right.

But they have ONLY shown up at places Bernie is at. It's fishy as hell. Literally picking the person they should least protest.

They think they are likely to find support there maybe. It sorta does encourage them when you give them the mic when they run on stage. Also tough to apply logic to the illogical.

I'm pretty drunk right now, but I kind of wish Bernie Sanders had let security force them off stage.

Are they disrupting Clinton rallies?

This might actually backfire and help him garner sympathy and ultimately, votes.

Thank you, BLM!
