Many projects are doing just that. For example, that bullshit with Coraline Ada and that Ruby project.

Unfortunately, female and minority participation in FOSS projects is abysmal. What ends up happening is that people start believing the bullshit, that participation is low due to hostility and discrimination, and they try to overcompensate to show the SJW bullies that they are good little allies. So far these assholes have successfully infiltrated numerous fields and gotten their way.

To be honest, I think that millenials are spineless dolts and SJWs are taking advantage of that. They will win in the long run. It seems like only a handful of people have their heads screwed on right, and the rest are useful idiots for this new wave of cultural marxism.

Yeah, no. I hold my argument as irrefutable because nobody has been able to show me one mailing list, or one bug tracker, showing discrimination, sexism, or racism in an FOSS project. Every time one of these threads pop up I merely ask for evidence that FOSS is exclusionary and discrimatory and nobody has posted a single sliver of evidence.

How about you? Can you show me an example of a FOSS project which has rejected contributions or participation based on gender or race? Since this is such a huge problem I'm sure it will be a simple task.

a non negligible number of people commenting in this post are KiA posters according to my tags, including you

Christ, who the fuck cares. That you have to attack posters based on their affiliations and not their arguments shows that you're an intellectual midget. Piss off.

Still waiting for you to post examples of sexism and racism in FOSS projects.

I have the feeling I'll be waiting for a very long time.

What would you do if you weren't able to automatically tag posters? Refute their arguments? The horror!

I think you underestimate the willpower and drive of these people. They are too stupid to create their own FOSS projects, but by god they will take control of existing projects if it's the last thing they do.

Reddit is FOSS now? I didn't know that. What awesome FOSS projects does Reddit host?

What's wrong... don't have me tagged so you can't spout off some ridiculous ad-hominem? I'm not a member of any of those communities so you can kindly fuck off.

You asked for examples and I gave you some.

No, you didn't. It's a bunch of opinion with no examples.

This is your proof that racism is "everywhere" in FOSS

Browsing through the list I see that absolutely none are offered in Swahili, nor Ebonics. Obviously this is done to prevent black people from having access to the kernel.

Man, I can't argue with that!

Your sources are garbage. It's you who needs to re-evaluate why you believe that sexism and racism is rampant in FOSS.

So, a bunch of opinion pieces. Grasping at straws I see.

Everything that occurs in FOSS development is public. Mailing lists, bug trackers, conference minutes. Where are the actual examples of sexism and racism?

Didn't even need to look far:

It's threads like this that make denial (a tactic I've seen used many times when witnessing the targeting an individual) of misogyny/racism/-ism impossinble and prompt decisions like githubs.

Tell me, where is the misogyny and racism in FOSS?

feigned victimhood

You mean like all the bullshit that people like you and Geek Feminism spread about FOSS projects discriminating against women and minorities?

This has never happened to any patch submission. You're creating bullshit arguments here.

I never do, but I always ask. Apparently discrimination runs rampant in open source and there are tons of toxic communities (like the Linux kernel) yet nobody can point to any examples.

I'm not opposed to a CoC. I am, however, opposed to the codification of divisive policies like the drivel that comes from Geek Feminism. These people establish walls and labels where none existed before.

The only people that CoCs like this attract are rabid social justice warriors who want to shove their ideology down everyone's throat. Once this language is codified into policy, they'll start harassing projects who don't behave the way they want.

It does not attract potential project contributors.

I'm only opposed to Code of Conducts filled with divisive Marxist newspeak.

These people establish walls and labels where none existed. They create the problem they claim to be solving.

Yes. What open source projects really need is to evaluate their levels of privilege against those of contributors, and modify their behaviour based on the difference. /s

Or, you know, accept quality contributions and reject poor contributions.

Nope. I ask this question every time someone says that these policies are needed to fight the discrimination in open source.

Never gotten a response.

These groups (like Geek Feminism) spread FUD and strongarm orgs into implementing their solution under threat of being labelled bigots. Their solution, of course, is a list or Orwellian rules that orgs must follow. It's about control, not equality.
