She was on the ground, limp, and breathing in a bizarre manner. She would look at the officers but not speak with them.

They ended up putting her on a stretcher and wanting to take her to a hospital for evaluation, when she "sprang like Athena out of Zeus's head" (John Stewart) and rushed the cop that was trying to subdue her violent son.

Well, if you watch. She is perfectly fine one second, then goes comatose for no reason.

If it was after one of the take downs, yeah, she could have gotten hurt. But she was perfectly fine after the scuffle. There was nothing that happened to her between the scuffle and her passing out.

Not only that, but she then jumps off the stretcher and walks around like nothing happened.

That's not how the body works.

This is just what I gathered from comments of the original post.

The kid who was on the ground originally was suicidal. So his mom called the cops to get him into protected custody. He became violent, so they had to force him to the ground. Then his brother started talking shit to the cops, and that's where the video starts.

    In the US the windshield would stay in one big piece because they're not supposed to shatter and have been laminated. In Europe the windshield is supposed to shatter into tiny pieces. Different safety requirements.

    I learned this when trying to take a used BMW 850 from Germany to America, I would have had to get a US spec windshield amongst other US specific safety features.

                That's very valid. What I think they also probably don't understand is the violent US criminal culture that necessitates (one cardigan, two socks) that kind of response. (also possible that I'm underestimating European criminals) anyone could get a little crazy watching their son go to jail. This lady obviously had a head start in that particular area. There is no way of telling (in the split second the cop had to decide the proper response) if that lady was armed. All he knew was that she was running towards his partner (who had his back turned) while he was restraining a criminal. There's a very real chance that this officer will encounter a very similar scenario at some point in his career and he will save someone's life by doing this.

                      This makes me embarrassed to be from Long Island. Not the cops. I have many cops in my family. There are bad cops and then there are cops who need to take a situation and get it under control. Taser is a non lethal form of getting someone to shut the fuck up and stop moving.

                      No one realizes, in a lot of these cop attacking pedestrian videos that the original command was to " get down, hands behind back, stay there , etc . Me and my friend were filming a little music video gorilla style in Suffolk one time and some asshole saw us and called the cops. Told them a black male was pointing a gun at a white male and he was screaming.

                      Well actually, I was performing the lyrics to the song and my black friend was recording using a black camera ( guess it looked like a gun )

                      20 Suffolk cops showed up and immediately poured their guns and told us to drop.

                      We did.

                      They came over and handcuffed us.

                      Not angrily. Not aggressively. Felt fine if there was a scale of pain for handcuffs.

                      They propped us up. Asked us what was going on.

                      We explained calmly.

                      They laughed and told us they were sorry but it was protocol until the situation could be addressed.

                      We're we pissed ? Sure. We're we actually not doing anything wrong ?

                      You betcha.

                      The thing me and my friend realized is the cops have no idea what's going on and have to treat it like life and death.

                      Stay calm. Comply. Be respectful .

                      Now , while I know this won't stop a person from getting shot from a bad cop or untrained one, why increase the chance ? Why not try to understand that police today might not have a grip on their weapons and even if you think you're in the right, let them feel calm first and then explain?

                      There are ways of handling this and being white and telling a cop " I'm coming for you nigga " just makes me cringe .

                      These punks are in the wrong, the mother isn't in as much pain as she seems because she clearly had the will power and muscle strength to realize she could try and tackle again.

                              This happened about 20 minutes away from me. The only problem with this video was that the guy recording it ended up getting arrested for "obstruction of justice" after the dispute was over.

                              Not sure why this was downvoted, you're correct. He was arrested and they tried to delete the video, which is against the first amendment right ruled by the Supreme Court. You can film police. This cameraman did nothing wrong.

                              That's the weird part. I feel the video would exonerate the police of any wrong doing for any charge of brutality. The one son being cuffed and charging them, causing them to roll on their mom in the first place,then her coming behind an officer with a raised hand, I'd be asking for this video to back up what happened. The only odd part is the ems worker who doesn't check her vitals, pulse, and sits her up after an altercation.

                              In some countries what the cop did would make him look like a massive asshole. He's clearly using more force than necessary, yet not enough so to even stand a chance of facing any sanctions.
