Agreed wholeheartedly.

One of the ideas that was put forth was to tag the users and threads. I could set up a bot so a handful of regular /r/firearms users can tag comments as they see them. No moderator required.

Personally, I like to keep racists in the open. They deserve to be publicly shamed.

On that same note, there could also be a special tag for trolls instead of banning them for 7 days like I have been doing. Spammers should still be banned, I think.

Permanent "Confirmed Troll" flair is a good solution. Better than a ban.

A troll is someone who posts intentionally provocative content, irrespective of his personal beliefs, solely for the purpose of eliciting a reaction. That nimrods like you cannot accept any divergent viewpoint as anything other than someone disingenuously attempting to goad you into a rage is a telling indictment of your essentially childlike and nuance-free understanding of the world.

As much as I disagree with your beliefs, you're absolutely on point about trolls versus disparate opinions. You're sharing an idiotic viewpoint in this thread and getting downvoted because the smart people here disagree with you but at least you're on topic in this post.

Sharing that idiotic opinion out of context on a separate post is pretty close to eliciting a reaction solely for the sake of trolling or fishing for downvotes.
