Anonymous asked: why do you block people that disagree with you? do you not like having your small minded view on the world questioned?
I block people that are rude to me, that insult me, that lie in order to waste my time, that spam or who’s blogs contain hate content. If people do those things I feel no sense of obligation to engage with them and it’s absolutely entitled to expect me to.
i don’t mean to take over this ask but can i just say how fucking seriously anon’s question pisses me off??
i see it all the time, especially on facebook. i live in the south so finding people that understand racism and sexism outside of “I DON’T DO THAT” is hard.
i cut those people out of my life for a multitude of reasons and especially because they “don’t agree with me”. because on things like women’s rights and the oppression of poc & the lgbtqia+ community and all the ways those intersect, disagreeing with me means that you think we are subhuman, that we are not deserving of those rights/respect and i take personal offense to that.
so yes, i will block the fuck out of people that don’t “agree” with me. because you’re disagreeing about someone’s quality of life, not their fucking ice cream preference.“I’m right because I say I’m right, and if you disagree you’re wrong. BLOCK!”
What you essentially just said. Well done.
“People wanting to be protected from “opinions” that inherently devalue them as a person and disrespect their existence and lived experiences with every expression of bigotry is basically the same thing as a child throwing a tantrum to me because I do not care about the effects that toxic opinions can have on people what so ever.”
What you essentially just said. Well done.
