The "6 million" is a myth too. It completely ignores the other 5+ million killed (as well as the intended genocide of all "inferior" ethnicities occupying the Lebensraum) and frames the Nazi atrocities as some historically unique event and specific suffering of the Jews when, in fact, genocide has been a regular feature, if not the very essence, of martial conflict since prehistory. That a story is based on true events makes it no less of a story (or "myth") when it becomes increasingly divorced from its context and trotted out as an explanatory or exculpatory device when seeking to excuse or justify the actions of a nation. It is this understanding of the "Holocaust" as a "myth" that finds Arab leaders making headlines in Western states but is an entirely reasonable adjudication.
