I find it interesting that I am unable to access either of those subs using Reddit is Fun

Same on Relay. Most likely because this is brand new code and hasn't been properly implemented.

Yeah it looks like you have to "unlock" each individual one first before accessing it using an app.

There is no API endpoint for this yet, this means that developers aren't able to implement this in their apps. So these subs are broken in the mobile apps.

As how it's written now, the subs show up with the same error message as a non-existing subreddit.

So why exactly do they require a verified email to view them?

One of the commenters there said it best: left-wing authoritarianism. It's this mentality that gives these people the idea that they're better than everyone else, and therefore more capable of determining what people should and shouldn't be allowed to discus. The problem with this, of course, is the way it chills free speech and leads to ever increasing censorship and encroachment on open discussions.

I'll take this opportunity to point out that Reddit is based in San Francisco.

Wow, I hate disgusting subreddits too but this is going too far. They should just ban them instead of forcing people to give up extra personal info.

Yeah that part is highly troubling.

You can always... I dunno... make a second email account. That doesn't have your personal info on it. Or that has someone else's info on it. Or that has made up info on it. Not really that hard.

I probably don't want to know... but the name /r/drawpeople doesn't seem that offensive... What is/was that subreddit?

I know it was modded by a bunch of CT mods.

A subreddit where you draw people and can be as offensive as you want.

People draw people, shitily. But since the Ellen Pao deal, they've just been drawing shitty drawings of her and also of fat people.

Thanks, definitely one of the bigger subreddits banned.

Can we call these what they are? Reddit Ghettos.

They're going to round up all the undesirable subreddits, put them in ghettos, then starve them by denying them fresh users, votes, and opinions via /r/all.

Also, I'll bet my next paycheck that the mods in the defaults are going to institute deletions and bans if you link to any of the verboten subreddits, further deepening the rift between admin-approved opinions and the forbidden thoughts. It'll get so bad that there'll need to be separate channels just to discuss the people in the ghettos. Established users will chill their own speech, and fear setting foot in the ghettoized subreddits, as they know the SJW bots will hunt them down and mark them for automoderator persecution.

Pretty easy to bet on something that's been happening for a while now.

It's impossible to ban people for mentioning quarantined subreddits before those subreddits have actually been quarantined. They only started doing this today.

Comment history?

[–]SuperConductiveRabbiundelete MVP 2

There WERE no quarantined subreddits before today. It was just whatever the mods of that subreddit wanted to make AutoModerator ban you far. Now there's a canonical list that, I'm saying, will surely be used by mods for deletions/bans.

Automoderator cannot ban users; it can only remove comments. You'd need a custom bot to ban users.

(It can be used to notify the subreddit's mods via modmail and then have them ban it, though.)

You mean the Mr Rogers bot? https://slimgur.com/image/09j

I find it hilarious that you people keep linking to a "leaked" image of a publicly available post. https://www.reddit.com/r/modclub/comments/3edf8s/we_need_your_help_introducing_umrrogersbot_a/

It makes it appear more slimy / secretive than it is. (I am able to see /r/modtalk too; technichally the post that they leaked is private, since it's /r/modtalk, but there's a public version...). All the info about the bot is public, and if they actually would read the post they'd see what it is.

No, that bot also doesn't ban users directly. It, as well, only removes comments (or reports them).

You don't think some subreddit's mods already had their bots banning links to certain communities?

[–]SuperConductiveRabbiundelete MVP 3

The list that SRS bans you for discussing is surely different than /r/news, which is different than TIL, and so on.

I'm saying that the admins are creating a canonical list and that it highly encourages mods to make these the subreddits that shall not be named. My bet is that this list is going to be used for moderator deletions/bans.

Snapshots:

  1. This Post - 1, 2, 3

  2. /r/KikeTown - 1, 2, Error

I am a bot. (Info / Contact)

I made a subreddit if anyone cares to sub to for future updates to the list.
