Thermoforming is a more precise name for it. Vacuum forming gets the point across because well it uses vacuum to suck the air out and its easy to call it that but technically its thermoforming. Just saying. I design and make molds for a living at my shop.

Sure but for the purposes of this subreddit it wouldn't make any sense to post the entire video for that one satisfying moment. Plus OP posted source in the comments anyway, and anyone who saw the .gif here wouldn't have seen the video anyway so it's not like it's stealing money from them (it's just not giving them as much as they would if the video were posted), and people have the option to watch the whole thing so it's still just free advertising.

That's why I've always thought that upvotes/downvotes in the comment section are dumb. They don't encourage people to think for themselves, instead, they encourage them to do "what everyone else does" to avoid feeling different, or losing karma. The fact that anonymous comments don't exist only enforces this idea.

4chan (or any other chan, really) has a remarkably harsh community, but you're much more likely to find honest opinions there. In some aspects it's better than Reddit if you're looking for genuine discussion. You have to stay away from the mainstream boards, but the same happens here so it's not really an exception. Either way, its structure enforces you to form your own opinion as you read the comments, because there's no indicator of what the most popular one is.

And that's the other half. A while ago, I saw a post about the process of making something, but more interesting to me was the fact that the person made their own vacuform machine in the process. They showed drilling the holes and creating teh seal, but didn't show how they heated up the plastic. And this does. I may have to try this at some point. I don't even know what I could possibly use a mold for, maybe chocolates or something.
