This will effectively be the excuse used across the media for closing down comments. Users were being racists/sexist/toxic/entitled/abusive/mean.

In reality the most triggering users were the ones politely disagreeing with the article's conclusions, premise, or implicit ideologies. Instead of embracing such a spectrum of viewpoints, and the internet as a forum for two way debate, the instinct of the fifth estate has been to keep the media as a one way propaganda apparatus, and bully ordinary users who disagree with the model.

Because they "banned the 30 or so people using it as a personal chat room" and the rest of the people were discussing GamerGate. Which is retarded, because you want users who use it as a chat room to bring in activity and discussion, and if your most active thread is on a topic, maybe you shouldn't shut it down?

Basically he banned what was left of the community and when nobody was left he got sick of operating an empty board.

You can't control people without outright banning troublemakers which then makes everyone else just treat you like a dictator.
