I don't get this whole whining about voat. It isn't hive mind-y. The most you could say is it's Anti-SJW, which means it's anti-toxic

Do you even know what an SJW is? Because a lot of people just use it to define people they don't like.

No, the term's always been clear.

Far-left pseudo-religious neo-puritan dog-piling slanderous extremist.

That covers all the bases.

No. The term started out as a positive thing. Martin Luther King Jr. was a warrior for social justice.

Martin Luther King called himself an "SJW".

Where? I want to see this.

[–]verdatum 0ポイント1ポイント  (15子コメント)

I didn't say that.

All the way back in 1969, a biography on MLK was published, titled "Martin Luther King: The Peaceful Warrior" that talks about his fight for social justice.

That was just the first hit I got on a book search for titles from the 20th century.

Oh goody. I see you're a master in shifting goalposts.

No, I'm a master in saying what I mean. I didn't claim MLK referred to himself as such. You put words into my mouth. That is not what goal post shifting means. Goal post shifting is when I make an ultimatum claim "all you have to do this and you win", you then, satisfy my challenge, and then I ignore it and make another claim.

People referred to MLK as a warrior for social justice. When they did so, it was intended as a positive thing. It was not intended as a pejorative. Therefore, the term did not always have the same connotation.

If you're not claiming MLK called himself an SJW then why claim otherwise, as that was the term originally pointed out?

Or is clicking the 'parent' button under the comment too hard? Must your fight for universal justice be based on lies?

I'm very confused. I did read all parents. Lets recap:

You said that "social justice warrior" has always clearly been used as a pejorative, specifically, "...pseudo-religious neo-puritan dog-piling slanderous extremist".

I said, no. It hasn't always referred to that sort of group. It was used to refer to MLK, in a positive sense.

You asked where did MLK use it to refer to himself. Which I never claimed.

I then responded giving evidence to my claim that the term has been used to positively describe MLK.
