[–]PorkchopsandHotdogs#TeamViolet 13

Fairly, he was the club kid version of a one-time Jeffrey Dahmer. Minus the rape

[–]mansonfamilyVintage smut for your nerve

We've all seen Party Monster. I can see some valid opinions on both sides, the entire point of serving a prison sentence is rehabilitation and being addicted to drugs which is an illness can make you do some very bad stuff, it's not an excuse at all but it's a part of it all.

Yeah, but we all know Prison isn't as rehabilitating as we'd like it to be. Some people can come out worse than when they started.

[–]mansonfamilyVintage smut for your nerve

Very much true! I of course wouldn't personally go to lunch with him I just believe someone who has served their sentence and been released needs to have chances or it was all completely pointless and we may aswel just kill people for their crimes

oh, is that what you think, mansonfamily? no hidden motives there lol

[–]UpInRusWigs#TeamMKD 101

Leader of the club kids along with James St. James. Was a big drug addict. Killed his dealer, poured draino down his throat, cut him up into pieces and put him in a box in his living room for a week before the smell started to get bad and he dumped the box in the Hudson River. Ended up going to jail just got out last year on parole.

Somehow I think he's a bit too dark even for Sharon...

[–]gbinasiaSweating like a hooker in church

Watch the movie Party Monster - it sort of portrays the story of James St. James and Michael being portrayed by Seth Green and Macaulay Culkin respectively.

I don't think the movie is a good representation of the facts of what happened

Experience Alig in all of his unrepentant, sociopathic glee. It's fucking gross.

I find it kinda ironic that people are critiquing and decrying the idea of Sharon meeting him, while then in the same breath referring others to the celebrated movie based on his story, which cemented him in the cultural narrative landscape.

He did his time. As far as I know he's not an addict any more. I'd be interested to see them work together

He's famous....... but is it for good reasons?

Us all watching a movie about him doesn't mean everyone viewing it loves him.

They're referring people to the movie evaluate it loosely depicts what happened because clearly some of you kiddies are a bit rusty on your drag herstory. No ones pointing anyone to the movie because we liked the fucker, what the hell kind of logic is that?

I mean... is Sharon sober now? I can't imagine Michael would want to fuck over his parole by getting together with another addict leading to who the hell knows what.

[–]unfunnypun"...it's a wooden hanger" 2ポイント3ポイント  (0子コメント)

My thoughts exactly. Even if he is a completely changed, clean man, I feel like the main reason Aaron would want to have lunch with him would be to further push Sharon Needles' "so edgy! fuck you, it's art!" concept? Like, use their meeting(s) just to rile people up. Which isn't fair to Alig, despite all he's done.

I hope so. I know she's a smart queen, but a part of me can see her thinking this would be a cool thing to do.

[–]unfunnypun"...it's a wooden hanger" 1ポイント2ポイント  (0子コメント)

Because it could be controversial, I think she'll do it.

[–]UpInRusWigs#TeamMKD 6

[–]ZeeenGardenFace, face, face of cakes 9

This is honestly scary... I can't believe there are actually people commenting on her post telling her to meet up with him... Michael Alig is a total narcissist, and an overall fucked up person. People like that DON'T change. It's sick that people are willing to overlook that just because he was a "legendary club kid."

I dunno, for all the shit people talk about Sharon (a smallish portion of it deserved), she's very smart (at least in the daytime and early evenings), and has a moral compass, and has been around the block a few times. I suspect Michael Alig just wants to meet with her to leech off her for monetary gain, and she knows that.

[–]OdinichkaDon't like me? Don't care. 1

Well, if he's trying to leech off of Needles for monetary gain, then he might be up shit creek....if certain rumors are true.....

[–]memeshayClassy, yet trashy!

[–]Its-very-thatGlamazon Bitch ready for the runway 12

because he is a legend in the drag/nightlife community, just like James st James, Amanda lepore, Richie Rich, Sophia Lamar, and to a lesser extent Rupaul

I'll say this. Alig got a pretty light sentence for what he did. He also did the full twenty years instead of the ten he could've gotten for good behavior which should be indicative that he hasn't changed enough for people like u/Jambeard to defend him.

James St. James may not be a saint (pun intended) but he grew out of it, while Alig just by looking at his Twitter account I can tell he's still living up to his description as an attention whore.

[–]Salchicha#beyondthisplanetREKT 11

I'd love to have lunch with you sometime slice your throat and bathe you in Drano for a solid week then dump your body in a river, if that's something you would be up for. Let me know!

I trust Sharon is smart enough to avoid that altogether, or at the very least bring someone trustworthy with her.

can´t leave this thread alone, though i probably should. there´s something i´d like to ask the commentators who seem so adamant on denying michael alig his rehabilitation: do you seriously think you yourself are incapable of doing absolutely abominable things? you just wouldn´t, not under any circumstances, not in any state of mind, not under the influence of any substance? now, even if your answer to this question is: no i wouldn´t. certainly not what he did, anyways. please try to imagine otherwise. do you then think that your heinous actions would be the only thing that define you as a person?

what i´m trying to get at is a) i believe everyone is capable of the atrocious, given the “right” circumstances and b) with the exception of some humans that are so sick there really is no other option than to lock them away till they die, those people who have behaved in the most despicable way nevertheless also have other parts to their personality. and the ability to change. and as a society we´d best be facing these facts and act accordingly.

I think it's kinda interesting you're trying to 'rationalize' what he did by saying "you probably would do that too!!" No, I definitely wouldn't. I can say undoubtedly at least 60% of the people in this country wouldn't. And you saying like... in a DIFFERENT state of mind... doing all these SUBSTANCES is just, in my opinion, irrelevant, because the fact is, most people are never going to end up in that situation. And hypotheticals like that are meaningless, because they are so far removed from reality it's impossible to really even answer them: "Well, if you grew up in a deeply homophobic environment with a possibly not too hot home life, were closeted all the way through high school and then fled to New York and then started doing all these hard, crazy drugs..." like that's just so absurdly different from what everybody is actually doing with their lives that there's no meaningful, realistic, or substantial answer to that, or purpose in considering it. "If you were an alien..." How the hell would I know? My existence would be radically different. I wouldn't be the same person.

Like, I guess what I'm trying to say is you're not really asking me that hypothetical. You're asking me to pretend to be Alig and answer that hypothetical.

And I feel like hypotheticals by nature involve you being asked a question where you, as the very person you are, are put in a situation without your action or consent (does that make sense?). "What would you do if you were framed with the murder of Angel?" I could answer, because I'm still the same person in that hypothetical. "What would you do after you killed Angel?" is different because that hypothetical requires me to assume the persona of someone who would do that, and the answer I would give wouldn't really be applicable to virtually any real life situation.

Does all that make sense? I'm typing on my phone lol

And regarding Alig's "rehabilitation"; I still don't trust him. He can live the rest of his life peacefully if he wants, and good for him, but that doesn't mean I'd trust him. Like others have said, prison is kinda shaky as rehab.

sorry, i´m on my way out and i´m also not quite sure i fully got your point, but since you took the time to react to my comment i´d like to answer.

if i understand you correctly, i think it boils down to us having different views on the human being in general. whereas you´re sure you could never become a monster and believe neither could 60% (let´s just stick to that percentage) of the population, i´m not so sure about myself, and i would definitely never place a bet on who the 40% are that might snap at some point in their lives. so what to you is a meaningless hypothetical far removed from reality to me is a possibility.

and what i´m trying to rationalize (irrespective of the specifics of alig´s case) would then be how to deal with those members of our society that have acted against it.

Nothing I've seen from Michael Alig after his release screams to me "I'VE CHANGED!!!!!". What have you seen?

When Michael had just gotten out of prison, I watched an hour long interview he did with Huffington Post. I thought that the time in jail seemed to have really given him time to reflect on his actions. He accepted full responsibility for murdering Angel, and he was very adamant about the fact that he deserved to live with that guilt forever. No it doesn't change what he did, nor does it bring Angel back to his family, but I think he is dealing with it as best he can.

what i see is someone who, after having completed much of his sentence, was found eligible for parole and thus released and is now trying to the best of his abilities and skills to find his place and meaning in a world that has been moving on without him for the past two decades. what i haven´t seen is him going completely off his rocker or murdering again. which might not scream of change to you. does however suggest an ever so slightly altered behavior to me.

See, here's the thing. I don't give a FUCK what state of mind he was in. He willingly took drugs. He was an awful person even before the murder. He fucked over mama Ru. He fucked over James. He killed someone. He lied about it. He's disgusting. Now here his narcissistic ass is trying to become relevant by latching onto Sharon (which he tried as SOON as he got out of prison, after his paid interviews of course) he's disgusting and I hope he rots. I'm not gonna lose any sleep over denying Alig his "rehabilitation"

yours and many of the other comments on this thread exasperate me, but i cant´t be bothered to argue my take on the matter any further, so i´m going to take the easy way out now and just leave the discussion
