I had some kids like that. They left a huuuge mess (on carpet that we have to sweep because why buy a vacuum?), consumed an entire bus tub of the parsley popcorn we give out, and no tip. But apparently I was the "best ever" and they wanted me to have a "great night" despite actively working against that wish. Gah

We have comment cards at work that people can fill out. It seems like 75% of the time when I get a positive one, I'm getting a 10% or less tip. Sucks.

Yesterday I had a ten-top that was very happy with everything, came out to a ~$200 check. They left me $13.40 :(

Was the bill $206.60?

[–]ServerDanifC 2ポイント3ポイント  (2子コメント)

No, $190-something. Don't remember the exact amount. Why $206.60?

It would have made an even $220 with a $13.40 tip. People like round numbers, regardless of the math.

Ah, I see, but no, it wasn't that amount. Oh well

Anytime I get complimented on my service, I mentally prepare myself for a ~10% tip. It's basically a guest saying "I'm tipping like crap because I'm a cheapskate, not because the service was bad!"

Whenever this happens I always wonder what they would have left if I had given them bad service.
