Reading through comments here, I'm seeing a lot of arguments from both sides, but it doesn't seem like the majority of people who disagree with his ban understand the issue at hand. You are in fact right in saying that in the short term, no harm was done. It's funny to look at in hindsight, it was something they did within a controlled space and that everyone was in on. Hell, watching the video at first, I even thought it was funny. The issue isn't the prank itself, it is its implication.

Swatting is something that I'm pretty sure most streamers and online personalities sincerely fear; its a situation where one wrong move can result in destruction of property, injury or even death, with no one at fault but the person calling in the threat to the police. If you would like to see a pretty real example of what swatting can turn into, I suggest you watch Kootra's video of when he was swatted during a creature channel stream. The police have no choice but to be incredibly firm with who they're dealing with, because to them it is in fact a life and death situation; if they see anything remotely off, they'll shoot on sight. Most of the time, the streamers end up being thrown to the floor and cuffed, while the police usually mess with their hardware. As someone said in another comment, if you have a dog and it begins to bark, it will most likely be hurt.

The majority of us here can take this as a joke, and I hate to say this, but people on the internet are fucking idiots. No offense to you subscribers out there, but Trick2g doesn't exactly have the most intelligent or mature fan base. Just watch one of his streams and look at twitch chat, you'll see what I mean. The last thing we need is one of the less intelligent/mature viewers out there thinking this is just a joke, and doing this to other people. And I can guarantee that there is probably someone out there who isn't on reddit, and doesn't see the implication of what was done; they probably think its just a joke, and they'll probably consider swatting a streamer because to them its still just a harmless funny joke.

So, those of you who don't understand the ban, its not the joke that got him banned. We make jokes about ISIS, 9/11, and North Korea all the time. Its about, sadly enough, teaching a lesson to the lowest common denominator out there who might actually act on what they saw, and not understand the fact that a joke is fine, but swatting in and of itself is something that isn't okay.

I don't like Trick2g... The few times I've tried his stream it didn't entice me to stay at all.

But I think a lot of people are missing the reason for the ban, it wasn't because some people got offended by a joke, its because swatting is a real problem, and streamers on Twitch are often endangered by it, and in a real swatting, it is very dangerous and one wrong move or misinterpreted action can result in someone getting shot.

By making light of it like that there is a risk that more immature viewers (which if I am right makes up a vast proportion of Tricks viewers) will not see it for being as severe as it is and will "copy" it and actually swat someone.

Goes a bit more beyond a silly joke and goes into the realm of being potentially dangerous. Twitch want to stop swatting, stunts like this just promote it. Pretty much simple as that.
