Speaking as a moderator of a subreddit this is a terrible example of moderation. I understand you have 10x more subscribers but the principles of moderation stand: do not censor issues that the community decide are relevant. This subreddit does not belong to you but the community. If the community wishes to speak about immigration, they must be allowed, given that they are civil.
Blatant censorship and the dismissal of opinions that you don't approve of but that are shared by a large percentage of the community will only raise tensions.

Probably best if you stick to posting about subreddits you know, agreed?

Sigh. It's not censorship if it's at the top of the goddamn sub. Stickied.
If the community wishes to speak about immigration, they must be allowed, given that they are civil.
They can talk as much as they want. They are actually given more visibility.

No, because if you were honest you'd realise most people read news websites by simply reading headlines. Reddit functions the same, people read the titles of posts, see an image and for the most part decide then whether to upvote or not. This is not the correct use of Reddit's functionality and so it is censorship.

Oh spare me your bullshit about how it is censorship. They can post any comment or link they want. And people interested in immigration can still participate.
Some of us are really fucking tired of seeing the bigoted comments that generalize people of races/ethnicities/religions or whatever. At least this way we can have real discussion with people who actually want to debate rationally and not the racist pricks who want to brigade every new immigration thread posted.

Now the top 50 comments are about the mods action and not about immigration. Censorship by obscuring is a real thing and it works. Ask me about my age and I will send you War and Peace with a little pencil dot next to the relevant numbers - somewhere in the text.

And how does filters change that exactly? Besides making this subreddit more enjoyable for those who do wish to talk about immigration in a reasonable way?

If the community is primarily made up of racists, maybe it's a bad community?
[–]Brenbren25 17ポイント18ポイント19ポイント 1時間 前 (10子コメント)
I don't understand how being anti-immigration is racist, but maybe a community that is concerned about immigration should be allowed to at least talk about it and not have their views censored!
[+]SenseiSwag スコアが基準値未満のコメント-6ポイント-5ポイント-4ポイント 1時間 前 (9子コメント)
The problem is that the racists and xenophobes are highly active because this is an issue they care deeply about. As such they post many links and up/downvote actively. They're like the "vocal minority" tea party in the United States. It's not a sign that "the community" shares their sentiments.
[–]Brenbren25 [スコア非表示] 1時間 前* (8子コメント)
If being an average European makes me a racist or xenophobic 'vocal minority', then I'm afraid that label has been abused to the point of meaningless. To me, those numbers do not look like a vocal minority but more like the majority. /r/Europe is a default subreddit for European redditors and I'M you have to realise that comes with more mainstream opinions.
Note: I am not defending harassing users, calls to violence or hatred.

Implying because many people are xenophobic or even racist it's somehow acceptable.
[–]Czechiaferoslav [スコア非表示] 46分 前 (1子コメント)
Impyling that being against imigration is racist or xenophobic. You are the best ally of actual racists, because you caused that no one takes accusation of racism seriously anymore.
[–]SenseiSwag [スコア非表示] 34分 前 (0子コメント)
I'm not saying it's racist or xenophobic as such to be against immigration. I'm saying that many people are against it because of racist or xenophobic motives, and those motives are unacceptable. Many anti-immigration posts on /r/europe are examples of these motives.

You are defending xenophobia and racism though. Maybe you belong in /r/european instead of /r/europe?

My opinions held are not irrational or based in hate. They are drawn from an objective study of statistics and an admittedly subjective, personal (but coherent) philosophy. If we could all admit that we love to rationalise things and imagine ourselves as a moral champion we'd at least have better discussions beyond pathos moralistic insults. The political spectrum results from differences in perspective. One person can have a totally different opinion on an issue than another and neither can be wrong.
From the graphic:
Should your country allow fewer immigrants?
An objective answer wanted to a subjective, multi-faceted topic. Wanting fewer immigrants is not xenophobic or racist though.
Immigrants today are a burden on our country because they take our jobs and social benefits
Tricky because there are different groups of immigrants. Some do receive unemployment benefit, housing benefit to a much greater extent in comparison to the native population. Other groups in fact receive few social benefits; Poles in the UK for example. However, the presence of a large, unskilled workforce does drive down wages for British nationals. The question is poorly worded as there rarely is a group that does both.
Immigrants in our country today are more to blame for crime than other groups
Immigrant groups do have higher crime rates. I don't believe in generalising the issue to individuals so in terms of how the question is framed (in English at least) I would not agree. I would expect government policy makers to understand group differences in crime rates however and I would like them to identify at-risk groups. Ignorance doesn't solve anything.
Immigrants in our country today want to be distinct from our society
Subjective question and evidence could lead you to conclude either side is correct. Lots of British Bangladeshi's identify as British for example. But one only has to look at one of the largest immigrant population in the UK, Muslim British-Pakistanis to realise that segregation is very real in the UK and parallel lives are being led.

TL;DR - "I'm not racist, I just don't want people from other parts of the world living near me. Also, they smell and are dumb and I don't like them."

Did my post warrant that response?

No. Your post did not warrant that response in any way.
