i'm liking nbc much better than fox. nbc is treating the sport with respect. fox treats it like it's a saturday morning cartoon.

Came here to say this. NBC's treating NASCAR like it's serious business is refreshing, especially considering so many average people off the street already consider NASCAR to be a joke.

All we need now is for NASCAR to treat itself like it's serious business and we'll be good to go

They're in the first year, I would expect that from them. Next year, everyone will be more acquainted with each other, and they will really start to get good with their coverage.

I am loving NBC so far. Steve and Jeff are doing a great job and will only get better with more air time. They don't treat us like idiots.

NBC is better than FOX but what do you guys mean by FOX not respecting NASCAR? Surely you mean in post race coverage by the other people. DW and company love NASCAR.

i mean, yeah, Fox has people who love NASCAR.. but they don't take it seriously. it's the same thing with most of their coverage, to be honest. and i've yet to cringe while watching the nbc broadcast.

FOX treated it like a hokey carnival. There are fans of the sport beyond the overly-redeck "boogity boogity boogity" variety.

I read that as Hockey Carnival and thought to myself, "I want to go there."

The Digger Cam? C'mon? haha

I'm so immensely satisfied by their coverage. I love Jeff and Steve in the booth, and Rick has a great commentating voice. They work really well together, and don't step all over each other like DW, Mike, and Larry seemed to.

[–]Earnhardt, Jr.hollywoodtlb 2

Rick is growing on me, but I wish a guy like Allen Bestwick had gotten the job. He's seems much better with words and coming up with catchy sayings when the leader comes across the finish line. His 2001 call of Dale Jr's Pepsi 400 win still gives me chills.

Yeah I remember reading Rick and thinking it was their "normal announcer" guy, and wishing they had Bestwick for that roll.

[–]Harvickaugustus_gloob 1ポイント2ポイント  (0子コメント)

Totally agree. I think I like Steve because he still very much has his crew chief hat on. He knows when to pit and why and tells us. Burton, the same, still really excited and in touch with the sport. I feel like both of them recently coming off the circuit is what makes them more interesting to listen to.

It's not that NBC is trying harder - as the new kid on the block, NBC has more to prove

Nah. Everyone loves the shiny new NBC right now. NBC has more to lose.

NBC. So hot right now.

I couldn't agree more, they seem to be putting a more professional spin on it.

The thing NBC is doing best is having Jeff Burton and Steve Letarte in the booth. We have a driver and crew chief that have actually drove/worked on the Gen 6 cars. They give us such a great insight on both sides of the equation.

Fox better step there game up next year!

We have a driver and crew chief that have actually drove/worked on the Gen 6 cars.

When FOX began their NASCAR coverage, DW and Larry Mac had both competed full-time the previous season, but it's been 14-15 years now. In a couple of years, NBC's advantage there will be erased, as it doesn't take very long for the technology to radically change.

I do think DW/Larry Mac have some advantages over Burton and Letarte, in that they've both been around NASCAR substantially longer. I think FOX adding Gordon to the booth pretty much erases any advantage NBC had in that area anyway.

Fox hires Jeff Gordon.

Lets see...

Driver or Crew Chief that have actually drove/worked on the Gen 6 cars. Check

Named Jeff. Check

Past Champion. Check

... Wait, NBC doesn't have that last one? Well gee that sucks. We hire people that know what they are doing. Boogity Boogity Boogity.

Edit: ... This was a joke. The anti-fox and anti-Gordon circlejerk are both so potent.

Swiggity swoogity, I'm comin for that boogity.

Next season, the FOX booth will have a combined 7 championships, meanwhile the NBC booth will have 0.

Not for jeff though

While not a major thing, I have noticed NBC missing restarts at least a couple of times. This annoys me.

Well... a restart is kind of a major thing.

True, I guess it is more than an annoyance. Seems like it should be somewhat easy to get the timing right.

I'm a fan of the NBC coverage, but here are a couple nits to pick. The announcers voices seem to get louder and softer depending on the camera angle. For wide shots, their voices are quiet, but others they're just fine. Also, since racing switched to NBC, it seems like I've lost the ability to dvr all the practices and qualifying, like NBC stopped labeling NASCAR as a series, so practice won't record unless I specifically seek it in the guide. Is anyone else seeing this? On Fox or ESPN, I'd just set a series recording for NASCAR Racing and get everything. Now, it's all labeled different, so I have to set individual recordings which is kind of a PITA.

Mine records every practice and qualification.

My biggest problem is the live extra app hardly working.

I also like the "Last Pit" ticker that they run too

I can't put my finger on it but something about Steve Letarte annoys me. Maybe it's that he always sounds 20 db louder that the other two guys in the booth.

[–]Townleygreg_jenningz [スコア非表示]  (2子コメント)

I have the unpopular opinion, I really like fox and the people that are working there. Mikey finally grew on me this year and I like that channel for my racing.

Even for the truck race, I enjoy that group in the booth.

[–]Earnhardt, Jr.BIGGamerer [

Finally, someone else who doesn't want to fucking rip Mikey's guts out!

[–]Townleygreg_jenningz [スコア非表示]  (0子コメント)

Haha yeah.. I really thought the taco thing at Texas was hilarious this year

[–]Chase Elliottdinosaursandsluts -2

I honestly liked it on fox better. It was simpler and the graphics were far easier to follow.

Sure...it's just too bad a lot of us can't watch it, because we don't have some top tier cable package. The Brickyard 400 not being on their major OTA network is a joke. And it's all a ploy by NBC's parent company to increase subscriptions. I'm sorry but fuck NBC.

Top tier packages aren't required. DirecTV's $30/month package has NBCSN. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for Fox Sports 2, which is on the $35/month package. Neither of which are anywhere close to top tier prices though.

Same for Comcast. NBC Sports is on their lowest-level package, whereas I can't even figure out which premium package to get for FS2.

Comcast doesn't offer FS2 on any of their tiers. It's kind of stupid, but w/e.

NBCSN and FS1 were not on the basic packages when I was a consumer of satellite providers a year ago. I got an intro rate with Dish and it ballooned into an outrageous amount of money with hardly any channels. I got tired of playing that game, so I'm all OTA and streaming now. I guess I don't understand how you guys disagree that one of the premiere NASCAR races should be on NBC, not some cable channel.

The last time I looked, ESPN was still cable. And the Brickyard has not aired on an OTA channel since NBC in 2006. That was 9 years ago. If the so-called worldwide leader in sports isn't going to air it on ABC, why should NBC?

Better camera angles,

How is this trying hard? Seems like a good thing to me.
