THANK YOU. YES. My twitter got fucking hacked and I didn't even realise it until somebody told me on Facebook. Thanks for sharing too!

no fucking idea of all people why me though. I've not been to any cybercafes, logged my computer anywhere and out of the blue I get a message from Facebook by someone telling me my twitter is hacked. scary shit.

They are most likely just going hacking random twiter accounts with some amount of followers , I think you have nothing to worry about .

They probably picked Meracle because he's Malaysian, they're trying to spread their hate to the SEA Muslim community.

[–]seed of the whaleblinkallthetime

if you reuse passwords, they probably mined it from a stolen database, and then tried your email/password combination on popular social media sites. change your passwords!

[–]iceiceiceiceiceicenorax_d2 5ポイント6ポイント  (3子コメント)

You can bruteforce password on 1 account, or try one password on several accounts. To get a random account, the second is faster.

[–]seed of the whaleblinkallthetime

hey yeah, but that is not what i am talking about. simply put, sometimes a company has password databases that get stolen. given time, an attacker can recover the original password, and then they have a username(sometimes email address) and password pair. you can just download some of these databases and browse them. then you could attempt to log into popular social media sites with these credentials.

so lets say you run a social media site, and i get access to your server and steal your password database. let's say that you have hashed the passwords. i can compute hashes for a dictionary and then recover the original password. then i use the email address and password pairs to attempt to log into twitter, facebook, myspace, and etc.

[–]Will EE ever win anything?itonlygetsworse 4

I still don't get why most sites still ask for something like 8 characters + special characters and numbers and case sensitive.

[–]Le meme squad faceAPeculiarTangerine 8

A shitty password with no special characters is easier to guess than a shitty password with special characters. It's a poor way to enforce securer passwords, but that's the reasoning behind it.

[–]Hoho before you hahaThrowawayusGenerica 4

This is, of course, dependent on the potential hacker not trying a dictionary attack, for some reason.

Actually, 44 bits is what you get if you DO try a dictionary attack. 211 = 2,048 words. If you choose 4 words, that's another 4 = 44 bits of entropy.

The whole bits thing is so full of shit too. How do they even get to 28 and 44 bits. It makes no sense.

Second if there were no required caps and special characters hackers could simply exclude all special characters in their search which would be insanely much faster.

Xkcd to me is most of the time just a bunch of random references to nerdy things just so people can feel smart while most of the time it's completely wrong...

[–]Spactru!KapteeniJ 4

If you have used that password anywhere else, one of those other services very likely has been hacked and their database consisting of usernames, emails, and password hashes has been stolen. Attacker would then break the hash and gain real passwords from those, and use the username/email/password combo to log in to other services.

It is also possible that particularly weak password was simply guessed right, some people use passwords like "password". If you try thousand twitter accounts, you might gain access to one or two with some fairly common passwords. Which you then can sell to ISIS

Twitter does have blocks after you get hacked. I got hacked once and it was very easy to stop. They send an email first that there is suspicious activity on your account and it gives you the option to lock it down and set a new password.

This argument has been going on for almost a century, and this guy thinks discussing it over the internet, on the Dota 2 subreddit, makes it any better.

Well to be fair, in the case of Japan and China, and even for the Turk and Armenian, it's not much of a debate. I mean, people do argument on the matter, but it's more a criminal court type of debate than a scientific one.

Number are there : Turk killed Armenian in great number, Japan went on China in so a brutal way that it make the Nazi appear soft, those are hard fact, but people will talk about circumstance, casualties, try to transfer blame, try to discredit the semantic instead of the content etc...

It's kind-of the "rape-culture" syndrome. You have sociological fact, but a deficient semantic that divide people because it's attack their identity (Be it gender or nationality) instead of just describing a situation.

You are trying to show Turkey as the guilty side here, but it's both side's fault really.

"Branding them as terrorist" might be the right thing to do when PKK attacks village houses because they sent their son to mandatory soldier duty.

[–]Burn the refraction then nuke, why is it so bloody difficult?Clearskky 11

  • PKK kill everyone including kurds and turks then call themselves liberators of kurds.
  • Kurds use electricity in eastern cities like its free and make people in the cities to pay for them. Hell, DEDAŞ (electric distribution company) even made a statement saying "If you're going to use electricity illegaly, at least don't waste it".
  • PKK hold guns to people's heads to collect votes for HDP. Did you people know that men don't allow women to vote in east beacuse they would vote for AKP?
  • PKK holds the almost entire drug traffic in turkey.

Way to get your country (that never existed) back buddy.

There was a 4chan post with a young girls photo. The post said "first one to guess their post ID gets to know her body's location". Some dude guessed it right, and OP posted some coordinates. Later, her actual body was found.

I'm not saying that the possibility of a bomb going off during TI5 is even close to being high, but it's always a possibility. And since we are talking about actual lives of innocent people, we should take it seriously.

I'm about 90% sure that the post has been logged, including the posters IP, and that this information is logged in Reddits backend. The trick is getting Reddit admins to dig it out, but I would think they would hand the information if law enforcement comes asking for it. When they have the IP it is trivial to ask the ISP which connection and customer that is bound to.

I'm pretty sure that this is a federal crime, joke or not, and that there is enough information to bust whoever posted that comment. Disclaimer: Not actually American so I'm not 100% sure how the justice system works over there.

Update: The privacy policy clearly states that the data is retained; "we keep a complete log of all messages sent on our service, even when both parties later delete their accounts.", "reddit stores the IP addresses associated with specific posts, comments, and private messages for 90 days after they are made or sent."

You should really make a police report. Im a fellow Singaporean and we all know how sensitive our gov is aboht these things. Hope you get to see this!.

  • Likely scenario: Meracle probably was at a gaming cafe. Maybe got keylogged or left his account logged in. Some idiot changed his credentials and thought it'd be fun to fuck with the profile with a bad theme.

  • What we think: OMGGGGGIDMW<WDSDSD SD ISIS!

who would log into Twitter in a LAN cafe? it's so much easier to just tweet with his phone

In South East Asia, the culture around gaming cafes are unlike any other. People are a lot more comfortable with them.

I visited one when I was in Singapore earlier this year. People press 'Find Match' - insta alt-tab to Facebook and Twitter. It's almost an involuntary reflex.

i live in Singapore, and i've never seen such things, largely because a good sum of internet cafes actually actively block any browser use. i think it's to prevent people from using it for internet gambling.

As a Malaysian I can confirm this. I've seen a lot of people using social media on the desktop rather than their smartphone.

Hope they will fix his account, twitter is being spammed

Quite scary and sobering when you see a personality that you actually know and care about having this done to them. Hope he gets his account back. This could just be a really sick joke though.

What was actually said on his twitter?

[–]TEEMSECROT FANGAICabskee 1

It said a bunch of stuff in Arab which, I believe, roughly translated to "We are coming" and a link to Meracle's Twitch.

Might not be isis themselves but someone pulling a prank.

Sent him a message and will try to get others in Singapore atm to notify him.

It's not a joke guys, one of the videos ISIS killing a group of people with only their underwear to cover them. Fuck ISIS.

But I thought that the ISIS were a bunch of primitive cave-men who wouldn't even know how to start a computer, I thought them even knowing about Java or c# was an I'm probably scenario, how can this happen I'm still in disbelief
